  • The Port of Rotterdam is not only Europa’s largest port, but also the most efficient, serving as a round-the-clock shipping hub which never sleeps. It serves as a key point of transit in shipping routes for the Netherlands, Europe and beyond, and has been making an increasing effort to use clean technology throughout.

The port of Rotterdam is a maritime motorway. Every day, it is traversed by an endless parade of ships, carrying more than 400 million tonnes of cargo per year. It is one of the largest ports in the world, and one of the most difficult to navigate.
With Singapore and Shanghai, the port of Rotterdam is the world’s busiest port thanks to its favourable geographic disposition because the Netherlands is located between Germany, France and the United Kingdom, the three main economies in the region. Without port of Rotterdam, no Mercedes in Germany.
Another factor that plays in favour of the Netherlands is the timing of inspections. The speed of inspections plays a very important role in the competitiveness of the business.
The port of Rotterdam gives more than 9000 people a job on ships, offices, on the cages, on security... without them, Europe would be near to collapse.

You want Opstelen back? Well, he did quite good on crime, but so does Aboutaleb, but in a hardened society. Or do you want Bram Peper back, stealing some money but who cares ;) Opstelten didn't have the more serious terror threats glooming over the city when Brussels, London, and Paris were attacked every other month it seemed in ~2015 i guess,
He did have football hooligans, but not ones that punch the members of the board of Union Berlin in a restaurant the day before the match. As a Feyenoord fan, I can tell you that's the lowest thing I've seen any fan(s) do, except maybe stabbing people wearing a certain shirt and ambush them when they are alone to pee or something. Opstelten didn\'t people either threatening or quickly meeting up to riot (look at the 2 large covid riots, first one almost a year ago with looting people, and last month with people destroying half the city, then the riots on the Erasmusbrug for the housing crisis demo. No Twitter during Opstelten, no Instagram, no Snapchat... Facebook was only 3 year old and nowhere of the reach it has to cause havoc. Anyway, you can dislike some of his points, but to me and many other and the city councl since he's re-eelected for a last term, think he does well.
Want Halsema from Amsterdam? That chubby Pvda woman from Utrecht? The one in The Hague that always seem to get in trouble within 3 or 6 months before have to leave prematurely. Maybe Joost Eerdmans could have become on back then, I would trust him and i;m not even voting on a right wing party, let alone on a more far right party.

Imagine if Romania and Bulgaria joined Schengen... With Greece's Piraeus and Thessaloniki ports, plus the opportunity to build enormous extensions due to the thousands of kilometers of strategic coastline the country has, offering quicker access of goods throughout all Europe at a much lower cost.. hmm, I see a very biased reaction here, concerning The Netherlands' stance on Schengen expansion in this region. Losing 10% of the yearly GDP, causing massive job loses, making the port of Rotterdam a secondary, or even tertiary one, is something, I am very sure, the country would do anything, and I mean ANYTHING, to not let this happen. Including becoming corrupt. Because tulips can't make up for it.

You realy think the 4 largest ports of europe where the 2 largerst rotterdam and antwerp combined have a larger cargo handeling than the folowing 10 largest ports combined . and of who the 4th largest is amsterdam , and 3rd largest hamburg germany ,. easy acces and infrastructure and all major rivers runing throught this area in to european heartlands .
Are threatend by romanian and bulgarian sub par harbours that need to go through the suez canal and bosperus to even reach those small ports in bulgaria and romania whit absolutely no infrastructer water ways or canals . 90 % of all eu nations have acces to the sea all have ports , and you realy think bulgaria or romania can compete with the industrial heartland of the EU ? you know the part where the belgium , France , germany italy luxembourg and netherlands are located , the region that provice 2/3rds of the EU GDP .
And britain to the west ,. no bulgaria and romania are a real threat ,. needing trucks and hundreds to thousends of them to transport te shear tonage to a region that is just 300 km from the main ports of europe . compared to 2000 km to romania and bulgaria .
2 nations that are corrupt as hell. untrustworthy filled with criminals .
I suggest you get a map and have a good look on how europe looks like and where the industries are located and which nations have more accessibel ports
      than bulgaria and romania.
here is a hint only austria , czech republic,Hungary , slovakia , switserland are the only eu and shengen regions with out a sea port . 4 out of the 27 EU nations and 5 in total if counting the swiss who have accest to the rhine river and close proximity to italy and france with the mediterainian ports.
Bulgaria and Romania are 2 nothing nations in the grand picture of maritime trafic .
You have lot to learn about trade , logistics and how a map of europe works.

German voters' support for Russia sanctions is waning
Will people in Germany have to sit in the cold come winter? Russia is supplying less and less gas - and prices are rising. What will happen to solidarity with Ukraine when life gets tougher in Germany?
