Rohstoffträger? Hast du einen Hitzeschaden erlitten- oder was?
    Junge, das ist ein Öltanker.

      Hallo
      Very Large Crude Carrier.

@@DjBrancoOfficial Dream on: the Knock Nevis has been in Rotterdam several times. It doesn't exist anymore. If it wouldn't fit in - by far the largest port in Europe - Rotterdam, it for sure wouldn't fit in any other European port.

8000 years ago, some guy saw a large tree limb floating by and decided to try to ride it. After a while he thought, if I hollow it out, I could ride it even better. He showed another guy what he had done and they both rode around in it - had the time of their lives. At some point they started to use long sticks and crude paddles to change direction. And now, you have this.

Men had veel tijd voor leuke dingen.
Men ging dichter bij elkaar wonen, men ging slechter eten vanwege de ontstane monocultuur, men bleef kleiner en men was vaker ziek.

Woow ! how ships have changed. I envy & give credit the men that build, service & run these monsters. Having served years on oil tankers myself ,foreign going . Years, many years ago I was amazed of the bright colours & size of tankers that could only take on crude oil in the Persian Gulf while at anchor & would leave well before we'd leave the jetty. I enjoy & appreciate close up video's of ship building, engine building & service's especially the deep & powerful sound at those humungous diesel engine.

When I was younger, I use to fish 20ft from super tankers when they where off loading crude oil. Right by the prop.
Imagine being 15 years old fishing in a 12 foot boat you build next to that ship!
We never worried about the proximity, because they filled it full of seawater before they left for another crude run to Venezuela.
Did you know that as they off load cargo the propeller is still turning super slow?
The blades are almost entirely out of the water at that point.
I don't quite remember, but ONE blade was about 18 feet.
Olympic Life is not the biggest tanker.
I was told back then, it was to keep the shaft lubricated.

    • @tomcline5631
      @tomcline5631 2 года назад +7

Actually it's to keep from egging the bearings. If they stopped the shaft,it would actually sink into the bottom of the bearing, causing it to be out of round.
