Picking my favorite motorcycle is a difficult thing to do because they all look very well. Not being able to ride them or hear them or see them race even miss it more difficult. But I am partial to the triumphs because in the 60s I raced them on flat track and I’ve always loved the way they’ve handled and ran so well. So right now that eliminates me because I am a triumph rider for 50 years. What cut my eye was the Indian believe it was the second photo very nice build. Love the show keep it up

Once again you give us a fabulous eclectic list to choose from, we can't compare some to others because they are so different, still, I thank you for giving me a huge amount of ideas to steal for my future builds(haha), as ever I will try to choose the best I can but when each & every one is a "Stand Out Machine" it poses a problem. Engraçado como sempre é só no fim do ano que me dou conta da dificuldade dessa eleição.. e sempre fico me sentindo de alguma forma injusto com algumas máquinas rs.. Mas apesar disso, dessa vez resolvi exercitar essa opinião de escolha, elegendo um pódio privado com minhas três preferidas.. são elas: Em terceiro lugar - BMW R Nine T BerryBads Motorcycle Em segundo lugar - Triumph Thruxton 900 Tamarit Motorcycle Em primeiro lugar - Triumph Bonneville 900 Pi Customs E como, como se diz no Brasil, "não aguento a morsa" 🤣, vou deixar uma menção honrosa também para a Honda CX 500 Tossa R. In 1950s-60s UK, young riders took original OEM motorcycles and modified them to go faster. Today, the people in this contest claiming to be Cafe motorcycle enthusiasts, take OEM motorcycles and make them slower. The modify the suspension and frame so it doesn't handle as well. They add on tires that don't grip as well. They modify the brakes so they don't stop as well. They add a very small and uncomfortable seat making it harder for the rider to control the bike and ride for reasonable lengths of time. They lower the bars so far that the rider's wrists and back are rapidly strained and fatigued, decreasing his ability to control the bike. They remove the air cleaner and replace with unfiltered velocity stacks, reducing engine power and causing the engine to experience rapid wear. They replace the lighting system with tiny taillights and signals, making it more likely to be involved in a serious accident. The mirrors - if installed at all - are so small they reduce or eliminate rearward visibility. They remove or minimize fenders so that mud and water is thrown up on the motorcycle and rider and even into the intake velocity stacks. In short, these modern "cafe racers" are simply ridiculous and should not be called or considered cafe "racers" at all. They should be called _cafe losers_ because they have been specifically designed and built to *lose* a race when pitted against the stock bike they started out with. And as far as aesthetics? They are absurd caricatures of the original and real cafe racers. I literally would not own or pay for any of these bikes.
I understand what your said. Unfortunately, british bikes for the 60's or 70's, and now very rare, and too valuable to use them on a cafe racer project. But the purist vision about what a real Cafe Racer has to be(or was), is not accepted by everyone. I already talked about this matter in other videos. Personaly, I think nowadays the original purpose of old/new motorcycles customized like the original Cafe Racers, does not make sense anymore. If we follow the pure perspective of those Cafe Racers, we would end up with something similar to a modern Yamaha R1. And this means that this rebirth of the "cafe racer" scene, must have a different approach. :) But thank you for sharing your perspective. :) Cheers.
@@RACER_TV I do not mean a cafe racer builder should only take 50s or 60's British motorcycle and replicate what cafe racers were doing back then. Not at all. I mean take motorcycles of any vintage and improve its handling, speed performance while also giving it a cafe style appropriate for its time period. For instance, take a 1978 Kawasaki KZ750, or a 1976 CB550, or a 1980 Suzuki GS1000, or a 1972 Kawasaki H2 and modify it in the classic way to look and actually _GO_ faster. Motorcycles are like airplanes - the ones that look fast tend to actually be fast. Once in a blue moon (i.e. very rarely) you feature a motorcycle like that. But it is very rare. In fact, I would say there are virtually none of the motorcycles featured in this competition that achieve greater performance than the original bike. Quite the contrary. Maybe the RD350 does, at least in power, maybe. But that's it.
I agree 110% with your sentiments , one or two I classified as cafe racers , the rest , no go , I doubt most would handle very well or be very practical or comfortable .
@@donaldwalklett4074 Yeah I think what we see on this channel is that there is a subculture that's developed in certain parts of Europe and Asia that likes these stylized only cafe racers. It seems the Latin side of Europe likes this trend and the "jungle asians" (as the Japanese call them) like it as well. I personally don't like it, but I do admit to liking some of the scrambler builds like the Triumph Jack Pine special by Hammarhead (now defunct due to a dishonest owner). But only the ones that actually improve the bike's ability to go offroad. Not just look like pig with lipstick.
@@drott150 For me a cafe racer involves improved handling , more power , loss of weight but not always possible , generally making the bike better . The majority of these are pure styling exercises with no thought of practicality or of improved handling , most actually resemble a bobber and sport bike mix . High profile oversize tyres on narrow rims actually worsen the handling , some have adventure bike tyres fitted ??? I have seen bikes where the angle of the shock and swingarm actually made the shock totally ineffective . When I build a cafe racer I concentrate on building a bike that works first and foremost , the looks I work on afterwards . But then again I am a motorcycle technician so tend to look for technical things . Actually most ' cafe racers ' I have come across have been downright dangerous , but then again if the builder is none the wiser ....
'And on th 8th day, YHWH took a little ride on a single-cylinder cafe racer...' I gotta '89 Honda NT 650 Hawk : that Two Brothers thing with left-side exhaust, clip-ons, bar-ends, stickies, etc ...my '81 Yamaha SR500 is jealous.

I like the style of the k series Bmw and it’s pod shaped drivetrain. Even if it’s not as simple as other cafe racer in looks.

Engraçado como sempre é só no fim do ano que me dou conta da dificuldade dessa eleição.. e sempre fico me sentindo de alguma forma injusto com algumas máquinas rs..
Mas apesar disso, dessa vez resolvi exercitar essa opinião de escolha, elegendo um pódio privado com minhas três preferidas.. são elas:

The Number 13 Yamaha Virago! I wanted a bike like that but the parts here are very hard to find! So instead I got the yamaha 125 and customize it.

In 1950s-60s UK, young riders took original OEM motorcycles and modified them to go faster. Today, the people in this contest claiming to be Cafe motorcycle enthusiasts, take OEM motorcycles and make them slower. The modify the suspension and frame so it doesn't handle as well. They add on tires that don't grip as well. They modify the brakes so they don't stop as well. They add a very small and uncomfortable seat making it harder for the rider to control the bike and ride for reasonable lengths of time. They lower the bars so far that the rider's wrists and back are rapidly strained and fatigued, decreasing his ability to control the bike. They remove the air cleaner and replace with unfiltered velocity stacks, reducing engine power and causing the engine to experience rapid wear. They replace the lighting system with tiny taillights and signals, making it more likely to be involved in a serious accident. The mirrors - if installed at all - are so small they reduce or eliminate rearward visibility. They remove or minimize fenders so that mud and water is thrown up on the motorcycle and rider and even into the intake velocity stacks.
In short, these modern "cafe racers" are simply ridiculous and should not be called or considered cafe "racers" at all. They should be called _cafe losers_ because they have been specifically designed and built to *lose* a race when pitted against the stock bike they started out with. And as far as aesthetics? They are absurd caricatures of the original and real cafe racers. I literally would not own or pay for any of these bikes.
I understand what your said. Unfortunately, british bikes for the 60's or 70's, and now very rare, and too valuable to use them on a cafe racer project. But the purist vision about what a real Cafe Racer has to be(or was), is not accepted by everyone. I already talked about this matter in other videos. Personaly, I think nowadays the original purpose of old/new motorcycles customized like the original Cafe Racers, does not make sense anymore. If we follow the pure perspective of those Cafe Racers, we would end up with something similar to a modern Yamaha R1. And this means that this rebirth of the "cafe racer" scene, must have a different approach. :)

@@RACER_TV I do not mean a cafe racer builder should only take 50s or 60's British motorcycle and replicate what cafe racers were doing back then. Not at all. I mean take motorcycles of any vintage and improve its handling, speed performance while also giving it a cafe style appropriate for its time period. For instance, take a 1978 Kawasaki KZ750, or a 1976 CB550, or a 1980 Suzuki GS1000, or a 1972 Kawasaki H2 and modify it in the classic way to look and actually _GO_ faster. Motorcycles are like airplanes - the ones that look fast tend to actually be fast. Once in a blue moon (i.e. very rarely) you feature a motorcycle like that. But it is very rare. In fact, I would say there are virtually none of the motorcycles featured in this competition that achieve greater performance than the original bike. Quite the contrary. Maybe the RD350 does, at least in power, maybe. But that's it.
I agree 110% with your sentiments , one or two I classified as cafe racers , the rest , no go , I doubt most would handle very well or be very practical or comfortable .
@@donaldwalklett4074 Yeah I think what we see on this channel is that there is a subculture that's developed in certain parts of Europe and Asia that likes these stylized only cafe racers. It seems the Latin side of Europe likes this trend and the "jungle asians" (as the Japanese call them) like it as well. I personally don't like it, but I do admit to liking some of the scrambler builds like the Triumph Jack Pine special by Hammarhead (now defunct due to a dishonest owner). But only the ones that actually improve the bike's ability to go offroad. Not just look like pig with lipstick.
@@drott150 For me a cafe racer involves improved handling , more power , loss of weight but not always possible , generally making the bike better . The majority of these are pure styling exercises with no thought of practicality or of improved handling , most actually resemble a bobber and sport bike mix . High profile oversize tyres on narrow rims actually worsen the handling , some have adventure bike tyres fitted ??? I have seen bikes where the angle of the shock and swingarm actually made the shock totally ineffective .
When I build a cafe racer I concentrate on building a bike that works first and foremost , the looks I work on afterwards .
But then again I am a motorcycle technician so tend to look for technical things . Actually most ' cafe racers ' I have come across have been downright dangerous , but then again if the builder is none the wiser ....
