We put up a candidate in Mastriano that we liked, but admittedly, he was far too conservative for the average Pennsylvanian. Shapiro won not because of his popularity, but because of Mastriano”s unpopularity.

It makes sense to me for Trump to back out of the debate set with Biden, but it makes no sense for any candidate to allow another candidate to dictact all of the terms. What candidate would agree to terms in which they weren't even allowed to negotiate? The Biden-Trump debate was heavily negotiated and both camps and the Network hammered out an agreement. With Biden out, go to Kamala's camp and work something out. Normally that's done by the Network, but both camps can agree on things and then take it to any Network and then let the Network decide if they want to produce. If we were honest, it appears that Trump set this up knowing that any smart candidate would never allow another candidate to just monopolize the terms and conditions. Understanding that I am about to say something that you may not trust, I won't treat the information as an absolute fact. Allegedly, CNN,ABC, CBS, NBC, along with 2 other networks reached out to both candidates to schedule debates. Once both camps agreed to do 2 debates, CNN and ABC were chosen as the Network. Both networks and both teams negotiated the terms (date, time, stipulation, etc). It's not clear how the format was ultimately decided, but we know both camps agreed upon the stipulations in advanced. To say that Biden set all the rules is misleading at best. What's verified is that both teams and the network agreed on the terms before anything was scheduled. Again, no problems with Trump canceling a scheduled event in which their was a participation change. But do you think he should now be able to dictate all of the terms and stipulations with the network and other participants, with no attempt to hash out the details with anyone? No one would ever agree to this, which leads me to believe Trump knows this and will try to use this to appear like it's her who is scared to debate.
