That’s really what it’s like, tho. There’s a lot of “mountaintop experiences” in Christian camps & stuff where people get swept up in the excitement and everything and feel renewed & then they get back to normal life and everything is back to normal until the next mountaintop experience.

I wasn’t in an evangelical church so it wasn’t as extreme but the mountaintop experience is a real phenomenon and it’s absolutely something that reels you in & makes you want to chase that feeling again.

Of course, they pitched me a $50k coaching package after the conference. (I walked away because who tf has $50k to just throw away like that?)

This makes me so sad… I was in Beachbody for over 5 years and posted soooooo much cringe on the internet… I finally went to a psychiatrist because I had fallen into a deep depression and found out that I have bipolar disorder. The CRAZIEST part about it, was as soon as I started taking medication and going to therapy, I literally COULD NOT post this kind of stuff on the internet anymore. There a lot to be said about being in a healthy head space….

My very first Mary Kay convention when i was in my 20s, I felt all that overwhelm myself. It was just such an amazing feeling like she's saying. I grew up going to conventions (my dad was an engineer). I can not one time remember someone crying or being emotional over a speech or meeting. This makes me uncomfortable in the sense of “relationships and community” it’s supposed to be about work.

I *didn't* join because I didn't so much have a bank account in my name, no lines of credit, and four days to come up with rent as a new single mom. (Which shows you why they preyed on me lol.) As a Pastor - the faith manipulation that is so common in so many MLM's makes me more angry than just about anything else. Because I believe that God that they are using as a tool to manipulate people and take their money would NEVER want His name or being to be used for something like that. It breaks my heart.
Every time I see these lives when people are at an MLM convention or coming from a convention, they get emotional like this. This is a clear point of what the conventions are for: to pull you in more emotionally.
Imagine someone at an IKEA conference talking about how AMAZING their job is and how much love and light there is and how God is so prevalent in their company. This doesn't happen in normal companies... NOR SHOULD IT. This is a control tactic called enmeshment and it prevents the individual from having a healthy sense of self and boundaries. It is much easier to manipulate/control an individual when this enmeshment is taking place... controlling all aspects of their life so they don't know where the company ends and their self begins. When you're this enmeshed, it makes it very difficult to see reason or leave the company. It would likely feel like you are leaving or rejecting your faith or yourself. Just my opinion from what I've observed over the years and researched.

I’ve been where she’s at but not thru the same means. She’s lovely and I don’t want to speak on her poorly but it’s akin to a manic state. You can do all this and have all this thru acts of service. Serve your community, do group therapy, organize workshops… get your purpose thru these means instead.
This made me very uncomfortable to watch, and I think it’s because it reminds me of me when I was off depression medication. I get it’s not for everyone, and I’m not trying to diagnose her or anyone else, but I was constantly on the verge of crying about anything and everything. Having that constant intensity of emotion is exhausting after a while. And whether it’s medicine or therapy or something else, I hope she realizes you don’t have to live like this. Maybe it was a bad day, but I get the vibe that this isn’t a one-off reaction. I just feel bad for her. I hope she gets help.

I think sleeping more, limiting the stress I put on myself (fewer obligations and expectations) helps a lot. And just forgiving myself. Letting myself rest. I want to try more cbd. THC is too strong for every day, and last time I tried cbd is didn’t work well, but I should play with doses.
This reminds me of my childhood, growing up as a Jehovah Witness! My mother would randomly have these ups and downs .. especially during the big conventions. This poor lady. Just to be clear, you can 100% make friends and create a supportive community WITHOUT joining an MLM. Look into meetings and events at your community center, library, churches, gyms, etc. and meet people with similar interests there. Try to get to know your neighbors, even if it’s just to wave when you see them taking out the trash. I think a lot of us have forgotten how to go out and meet people since so much was shut down the past few years, but those places and resources are there again! Please use them!

Everytime I see something like this it makes me so sad! This woman for example seems like someone that is a genuinely good person that really does care for others but has or has had some things in her life that made her vulnerable. And instead of someone that ACTUALLY cares leading her in the direction of something like therapy they have taken advantage for their own personal gain. So many people have gone into an mlm looking for something amazing whether it be "financial freedom", "lifelong friendships", "being meant for more", "working from anywhere" etc but in the end come out the other end in a more vulnerable position than they were before in all the areas you were promised so much.

LTD kept me in their nest with these kinds of conferences for so many years. The love bombing, toxic positivity and faith manipulation in these conferences are intense. Add to that Night Owls and Masterminds after the scheduled events and you basically don’t have any room in your head left over for your own thoughts.
I just don't know how I lived this long without realizing how many MLMs are out there. How many friends of mine have been in one or two at one point or another. So glad I found your channel. I'm finding this super interesting and informative on what to look out for and avoid. I'm such a minimalist I don't really buy things I don't need. Maybe that's how I've been so in the dark. This woman is having a meltdown in her car, sobbing about love and healing everyone, and the money’s all going to this tacky tacky couple.
I know a lady who is in this one. She had a severely special needs child who's story she used to sell, and continues to use after the child's terrible passing to sell and recruit. Absolutely gut wrenching.

As a Pastor - the faith manipulation that is so common in so many MLM's makes me more angry than just about anything else. Because I believe that God that they are using as a tool to manipulate people and take their money would NEVER want His name or being to be used for something like that. It breaks my heart.

Every time I see these lives when people are at an MLM convention or coming from a convention, they get emotional like this. This is a clear point of what the conventions are for: to pull you in more emotionally.
Imagine someone at an IKEA conference talking about how AMAZING their job is and how much love and light there is and how God is so prevalent in their company. This doesn't happen in normal companies... NOR SHOULD IT. This is a control tactic called enmeshment and it prevents the individual from having a healthy sense of self and boundaries. It is much easier to manipulate/control an individual when this enmeshment is taking place... controlling all aspects of their life so they don't know where the company ends and their self begins. When you're this enmeshed, it makes it very difficult to see reason or leave the company. It would likely feel like you are leaving or rejecting your faith or yourself. Just my opinion from what I've observed over the years and researched.
videos like this are so upsetting, she seems like such an interesting and cool person and it breaks my heart to see anyone go through this. I hope things can get better for her and she can start focusing on her own passions.

I’ve been where she’s at but not thru the same means. She’s lovely and I don’t want to speak on her poorly but it’s akin to a manic state.
You can do all this and have all this thru acts of service. Serve your community, do group therapy, organize workshops… get your purpose thru these means instead.
This made me very uncomfortable to watch, and I think it’s because it reminds me of me when I was off depression medication. I get it’s not for everyone, and I’m not trying to diagnose her or anyone else, but I was constantly on the verge of crying about anything and everything. Having that constant intensity of emotion is exhausting after a while. And whether it’s medicine or therapy or something else, I hope she realizes you don’t have to live like this. Maybe it was a bad day, but I get the vibe that this isn’t a one-off reaction. I just feel bad for her. I hope she gets help.
She is probably also sleep deprived. They have a crazy schedule at these conventions, and you're expected to be there for everything. Whoops, that was the fundamentalist cult I was in years ago. Seriously, i'm sure it's the same.

@@SoCalJellybean lots of common symptoms between those on the spectrum and adhd and even those with bipolar. It was only a couple of years ago that a therapist used the word “overwhelm” to describe the exhausted, anxious, can’t think anymore feeling I always get.
@@fluffyduckbutt24 honestly, my stimulants help but only when they’re working. Once they wear off, the feeling does come back, but not all the time. I think sleeping more, limiting the stress I put on myself (fewer obligations and expectations) helps a lot. And just forgiving myself. Letting myself rest. I want to try more cbd. THC is too strong for every day, and last time I tried cbd is didn’t work well, but I should play with doses.

This poor lady. Just to be clear, you can 100% make friends and create a supportive community WITHOUT joining an MLM. Look into meetings and events at your community center, library, churches, gyms, etc. and meet people with similar interests there. Try to get to know your neighbors, even if it’s just to wave when you see them taking out the trash. I think a lot of us have forgotten how to go out and meet people since so much was shut down the past few years, but those places and resources are there again! Please use them!

Yeah, I feel like everyone wants to belong. I’ve left the church, and I miss the community and feel-good experiences. Even agnostics like me look for it elsewhere. However, most mlms don’t feel inclusive to non-religious people, so they could be pushing some people away.

Everytime I see something like this it makes me so sad! This woman for example seems like someone that is a genuinely good person that really does care for others but has or has had some things in her life that made her vulnerable. And instead of someone that ACTUALLY cares leading her in the direction of something like therapy they have taken advantage for their own personal gain. So many people have gone into an mlm looking for something amazing whether it be "financial freedom", "lifelong friendships", "being meant for more", "working from anywhere" etc but in the end come out the other end in a more vulnerable position than they were before in all the areas you were promised so much.

I hate that this was me 7 years ago. Truly me, down to even the idolization of speakers literally after I first hear them speak. LTD kept me in their nest with these kinds of conferences for so many years. The love bombing, toxic positivity and faith manipulation in these conferences are intense. Add to that Night Owls and Masterminds after the scheduled events and you basically don’t have any room in your head left over for your own thoughts.

This was pretty uncomfortable. Uncomfortable because I think she actually has been brainwashed, the meeting she was at it sounds like it has done its job in awakening her passion and drive for the business, and that's exactly what the meeting, conventions, retreats and all that are for. I hope she sees this and realises and gets out before it's too late.

This is absolutely terrifying. This woman has been so manipulated, so brainwashed and it's extremely sad because she seems like such a passionate person who could be doing some amazing things in the world but here she is wasting all her time and energy in a pyramid scheme. It seems like the uplines trauma dumping and then throwing out the pitch on stage has left her so overwhelmed. Very sad and scary to see.
