      FRIGUS nah man, I’m not even close to this skill level but even I can play off the top like this without “rehearsing”. For me tho, I only know guitar and also making drum beats with a midi controller. It’s called Scales. Once you know scales, you can play off the top for hours and it will sound good. Even if this specific video was rehearsed I can guarantee that he can do the same thing off the top. It’s okay buddy, I’m sure you have talents too👍😂

      What I know about looping live on ableton using midi.
      1. create an empty midi clip in a track and define its length, lets say 2 bars.
      2. If the track is armed and your instrument is connected, turn on Automation.
      3. Now if you play, midi notes will be recorded instantly and played back too. Automation will enable you to rewrite over the clip as much as you wish but if you do a mistake you have to undo that part.

      hey man is there any way you could update this and add an 8 bar option to this? am using it with an apc40 and love it but wish i could record longer loops

    • @PhelipsRG
      @PhelipsRG 5 лет назад +1

      I had the same question for months until i figured out that the ONLY EASY way to do it is with Push, the Ableton midi controller, if you want to record and play a loop on the go, FKJ style, you have to use Push's "fixed lenght" feature, otherwise you have to do it like the guys in the other comments said, create the clip, set the lenght and so on, but you have to do this before playing and cuts your workflow, only with push you can achieve it smoothly... although it cost a bunch of money :/
      But trust me its worth it, specially if you are into live performing, or just to jam to your own loops with little-to-no effort. Hope this helped.

    where does he plug the instruments? AND HOW DOES HE RECORD THEM AUTOMATICLLY??

      Hey! So he plugs instruments into an interface, then each instrument is assigned a channel on abelton, which is controlled by his APC 40. Im still trying to figure out the his looping magic...

      yeah he uses some real expensive one, you can find his gear on this site equipboard.com/pros/fkj
      i do similar work, but cant afford such a high end interface. I use the Allan And Heath Zedi100 which is great because its mixer/interface combo. Let me know if you have any other questions!

      Dude i've watched almost every video he has multiple times to try and figure out how it sets it to loop a set amount of bars without using a pedal and i've had no luck. It seems like it must be something very simple and i know Ableton can do it i just haven't figured it out. :(

      I dont know exactly what he does, but I think that he assign a looper on each track in ableton and uses the akai apc 40 mkII to switch between the different track. If someone knows exactly how he works?

      i think he plugs in a footswitch to the APC40 that triggers the record function on the loop! ive watched all the videos as well, and haven't found one that shows his damn feet. There is one really cool one where he does a live performance in Paris, but the floor only shows his effects pedal...
      we will figure this out! I just got an APC40 so im hoping I can piece this together! good luck yall
