i almost imagine this being a reprise to the original, where the original is full of pining and lust and passion, this one speaks of the heartbreaking rejection that came after. the longing... the melancholy... the defeat... positively immaculate
Why did he change the lyric "for your other man to hang from a tree" to "for your other man to tie to a tree"? I see this was performed in Nashville - is it related to the history of lynchings in the south?
Possibly? I’ve been trying to figure that out myself. He did the same in Phoenix and got a big “YEAHHHH” cheer from some guy off to the left and totally broke down into giggles. It was massively cute.
I always take it with he is an Irish musician. And while I am unfamiliar with Ireland's history with lynching. The line takes a totally different message in the states with its long past and present of lynching. And if that wasn't what he wanted to convey why not change it.
I hope he comes back to Vegas because my parents got to go but I did get to go. My mom said that she would take me if he comes back. My dad said that his voice is better IRL rather then the real song.

I think he does it with most live versions as a cleaner version
