I have an idea where the "mashing A" came from. On the original games, if you entered the casino to gamble, and tapped A to the beat of the music, you almost guaranteed a win every since time. If you don't believe me, try it yourself on yellow, red or blue. The idea of tapping a certain sequence to "win" was probably engrained in people from this experience.
No, it is true, I could easily win 10-20x in a row before missing one, then keep going. Might only work on the particular Gameboy I was on due to clock freq, but it was a thing. I think the "music" was just a coincidence. I just tested it as I was typing this, and it is correct..@@tsmblindzo3033

On me and my brother's FireRed game, he caught a Seel with a masterball, but I also caught a shiny Golbat later on. Still have that shiny Crowbat on my team, and gotta say, the pink looks way better than the green.
I made a Shiny mistake. I saw a Shiny Hoppip in Heartgold. I saw Hoppip first time amd I thought it is the normal colur of hoppip and I ran away. Then I saw another hoppip and it was red. I thought it is shiny and I catched it. Then I learned first one was Shiny I cried.
My brother found a shiny golden Poochyena in Pokemon Emerald back in the days. It was the one in the scripted fight where he had to save Prof. Birch all the way in the beginning of the game, so he had no balls to throw at it and he couldn't flee. The game literally made him kill that shiny.
How to use a master ball: Step 1: find a legendary Step 2: kill it Step 3: cry Step 4: find a magikarp Step 5: use master ball Step 6: Save (thanks to Bun Bun) Step 7: use everstone, and make magikarp only know the move, “Splash”(thanks to Its Applesauce) Step 8: delete all Pokémon besides magikarp Step 9: save
Lol the first points about moves was so true to me as a kid. Now replaying as an adult it’s like hey when megapod hardens it actually is harder to kill. Then my mind exploded and realized I can make awesome strategies. Just a basic tail whip before a hyper fang for a one shot kill just makes the game more satisfying to play.
@@utvm6748 seriously...in my FIRST ever pokemon playthrough i sat at misty's gym in pokemon yellow: special pikachu edition (my first ever pokemon game) until the batteries died in my gameboy color
I guess the only mistake I made from this list was only using attacking moves in RBY, but to be honest, you don't really need status or buffs to play the story mode. A few years later when GS were released I made a friend who was into competitive battles and he explained to me his strategies, some of them involving only one damaging move and three setup moves, or 2 and 2, or no damaging moves at all (like using Confuse Ray, Sand Attack, Safeguard, etc). He was extremely annoying to battle but always fun and I learned tons from him
I still use only attacking moves (although I learned to only use special moves on Pokemon with higher special attack and vice versa, as well as to diversify my movesets). And I'm proud.
My younger sis isn't a gamer but she'd play Pokemon with me. She'd beat the elite 4 and I was only halfway through the badges. While I stopped to train my team she just blasted through the entire game with only her starter.
Now, as an adult, I realize how buffing moves can get ridiculous. In gen three, the flying type gym leader had an altaria that she buffed with one move repeatedly, then swept entire teams with single attacks on each member.
The "forgot to save" happened to me once and I lost my Zygarde. I remember going on panic mode and tried to catch it again but this time the ultra balls I had weren't enough. Thank goodness I saved the game before trying to catch it so I went back to the saving point and tried to catch it again. I got it and immediately saved afterwards lmao
all my pokemons were like level 35 and i fighted articuno and just couldn't catch it i wasted 10 ultra balls and 50 normal pokeballs and couldn't catch im so I killed it and i just said to myself he is a legendary so he will come back and he didn't I shit myself like i screamed like samara punched myself and alot of bad things then I remembered that i saved the game before fighting articuno so i lower articuno's life and waste all my pokeballs AGAIN then I run away and I prayed that articuno stayed there but he flew away that was the day that i experienced a heart atack so i leave the cave criying then i come back to get the other items and i see articuno there then I felt like a mom seeying their baby for the first time and criying so I left the cave and said im gonna come back when im stronger and have stats changing moves. Lesson of the day: dont be soopid like me
1. Teaching my Pokemon multiple moves of the same type? - Yup! 2. Mashing the A button? - Definitely! 3. Thinking non-damaging moves were useless? - Yes, yes indeed.
1. Nah 2. Most Definetly 3. For the most part, still do! Cause I play the meta and I'll care about are the defending moves, toxic, and the hazards. Swords dance on some
I had a version of pokemon Gold where my starter pokemon and the first two pokemon in the wild were shinies. Back in the day I did not know about shinies. I restarted the game and the same thing happened. Such incredible luck. However I thought the game was glitched so I went back to the store and traded the game for Silver...
I believe that in one of the old Pokemon stadium/trounament games it actually did increase because of a coding glitch that if you clicked A at a particular moment it recognized it as like a catch command. And also didn't Gamefreak like once post some "tips" game magazine that said that help your chances, but it was meant to be more of a reason to interact rather than a legitimate strategy.
During one run of Pokémon Diamond, I just got my starter and bought some Poké Balls. I went into the tall grass and encountered a shiny Bidoof. At the time, I had no idea what shinies were or their rarity. Since I always classified Bidoof as an HM mule, I thought, "Why do I want a Bidoof? I already got one with all the HM moves I need." So, I ran away from it. Years later, after learning about shinies, I realized my grave mistake.
My brother doesnt like to buy many pokeballs and he just went on a catching spree until he found a shiny Tentacool and he couldnt catch it since he had to pokeballs left.
I admit somewhere there is a Pokemon White save file with a Serperior with only grass type moves. Serperior: Level 79 Moves: Giga Drain Leaf Blade Leaf Storm Frenzy Plant
When I was seven I encountered a shiny bagon in my emerald game And seven year old me was smart and knew those stars that apeared meant something special
My first shiny was suicune in leaf green. I encountered it and because it wasn't in the first 151 pokemon in the pokedex, i thought that it runned from a trainer. Plus it had the stars when you battle it while the others didn't had it. Thus, thinking it belonged to someone else, i run😂
I still remember my first shiny. It was a cottenee and I didn’t even know it was a shiny at the time since I wasn’t paying much attention. Luckily I did catch it for my Pokédex, and I’m super happy i caught it and later evolved it
When i was a kid, I remember playing my brother's copy of Ruby version and encountering a shiny whismur. I went to tell him I found a "Glitch pokemon" cuz i had no idea what shiny pokemon were and he yanked the gba out of my hands hella quick to catch it. He caught it luckily because i was scared attacking it would corrupt the game or something
Instead of mashing the A button, I held Down and B for luck. I still do instinctively. What's weirder is when I heard about this "rumor", I was told to use Up instead of Down when using a Great Ball.
Now I can see why you do so many walking through walls/running through voids glitches. It must’ve been all of that built up frustration from not being able to leave your player’s room for 8 hours lol.
I convinced my brother to use his master ball because I was skeptical if the masterball was *actually* catching without fail. He did it, and ended up having to catch dialga with a dusk stone.
when I first got into pokemon I thought status moves were dogwater and useless, and didnt use them for over 6 years, now I still almost never use them only when my pokemon is overleveled and can take a hit or two, or has a type advantage.
lmao same. i just over level my pokemon and then I dont need moves like that. I don't care about having the best moves, having the highest stats, having the best pokemon. I just do what I want. I don't care if it's "wrong"
same thing happened to me in pokemon black when I was younger. I caught a thunderous with my master ball but I realized I made a mistake because I wanted to use it on reshiram. so I released thunderous and I lost a pokemon and a master ball.
I always thought you had to do the gyms in the exact order specified on the trading card. So for Gold I’d always go Chuck, Jasmine, then Pryce. Then after beating the Elite Four I went to Kanto and struggled immensely to find Brock not knowing he’s one of the last gym leaders you’re expected to fight. I accidentally started the fight against Koga’s daughter and thought I broke the game so I restarted my save file.
My first mistake in pokemon games: I didn't know I had to save the game and the game continued to restart over and over, that became a little frustrating so I decided to keep my nintendo on so I didn't lose my progress xD
how did you never notice the fricken SAVE did you even read the book on the table at the start of the game it said "press E for the menu" "click save to save your progress"
I had a yellow game that didn't save(must have been a fake copy) so I had to keep it on and I had to tell my parents to not touch it and I actually one once after so many failed attempts and when I finished it I was like FUCK YOU I WON!
I actually did this once because I had a save file on Pokémon black but wanted to play through the story again, so I played through the entire game without ever switching my DS off once.
I wasnt even hunting for a Shiny, I was looking for a Dratini, so I was fishing, and out pops up a Shiny Magikarp. I instantly forgot about trying to get that Dratini and I came to my brothers room to show him. But little did I know, I had my thumb pressing HARDLY against the power button, turning off the 3DS and losing a shiny. I took a brake from Ultra Moon for an entire year because of my stupidity.
When I first played emerald, I couldn’t figure how to get past the scientist blocking Route 102 out of Oldale town. I remember just talking to him over and over, hoping he would let me through. Also, when I played Gold, I thought Silver pushing the player character was the funniest thing ever, and kept it up for a solid hour. Kids are easy to entertain.
The one thing I remember from when I first played Red was fighting and fainting pokemon and not understanding why I didn't have it now. It took me until I got the PokeBalls to realize that I needed to do that. This was gen 1 though, and I'd only seen the anime (where he always caught the wild pokemon he defeated), so I had no idea how the game was supposed to work.
Once in fire red i found a shiny caterpie But lil' old me didn't knew anything about them so i ran away thinking it was just another one I have never seen a shiny since then
My first game was Platinum, and I spent an unhealthy amount of time in the casino. After noticing that lining up the Pokéball would help you win coins I figured the same must be true for catching, so I would try to press A right as the pokeball shook to increase my chances. I still do sometimes since it was a habit for around four years
Same. I got shinies twice. A shiny ratata in the pokemon mansion in fire red i caught that one. And saw a shiny weedle in the same game but i forgot to buy pokeballs
I encounter a shiny and have great ball on my bag......but I don't catch it. Because it's shiny zubat the design is gross..... I also hate zubat so even it's shiny I won't catch it.
as it turns out, the game already decides if the pokemon is caught as soon as you select the pokeball from the items menu, the rest of that 5 seconds of animation is just for show
My older sister did that. Me: "Did you catch Kyogre yet?" Her: "Oh, I beat it the first time" Me: "Um, the first time?" Her: "Yeah, don't you fight it once as Primal then catch it later as base form?" Me: *Hangs up*
Similar to your Pokémon Gold story - My cousin and I both got our Blue versions at our Christmas Eve party and immediately started playing. When my sprite left the house, I headed straight out of Pallet town and kept getting confused/frustrated as to why Oak was somewhere off-screen telling me I couldn’t leave. My cousin was playing through the game just fine, and when I asked him what he did, he told me I just had to go upwards to leave town. I think he just assumed I’d already gone to the lab and gotten my Pokémon, which in reality I had no idea I had to do and the game wasn’t giving me any type of instruction on that, so I was just stuck 😂 We kept arguing back and forth for a minute before we finally figured out what I did wrong. Yeah, not a good start to my Pokemon journey 🤣
I knew from the start that stat changing moves were useful in longer battles, but it took me a while to learn that attack and special attack were not the same
@@jiyaadhmohinudeen5112 Attack are physical moves like fire punch, dragon claw and sp. atk are "magical" attacks like flame thrower, fire storm and so on. ATK boosts attacks of the body and SP ATK boosts special moves that do not require physical strengh if this image helps you more
@@sockosophie3132 This is not true for the earlier generations, though. There it is based on the type. In 1st Generation, the only clue they give you is an info that a x-special (or the vitanim?) boosts special attacks, like fire or water. There is no hint whatsoever that tells you which types are considered special.
I made the same mistake and never used stat moves. I just wanted moves that looked cool. Hell, I didn't even care about the power of the moves. As long as it looked fascinating, then that's all I cared about.
I have NEVER used a non damaging move. The best part is I finished Pokémon moon, and I’m working on Pokémon shield now. And not once have I used a non damaging move!
Never got stuck in the starting room in Pokémon, but I did have a similar issue in my first playthrough of Wind Waker, where I couldn't figure out which house was supposed to be Grandma's at the very start of the game. I'd been in there and then out again several times, not paying attention to the ladder I was expected to climb to meet her. I legit spent 2hrs running around the damn island 😭
I looked over at my little sister playing her Pokemon Moon, and she caught lunala with a regular pokeball. Then she caught an absol with the masterball
Lemmon Cake my friend caught me a Lugia with a premier ball(I did not have a master ball at the time, I think I used it on the red Gyarados in Soul Silver)
Dude, I gotta admit, when I was 7 years old or so, I didn’t really read in-game text, and when I got Pokémon Ruby, I couldn’t figure out how to progress past my house because I didn’t know I had to set a clock. I got so pissed in front of my family that Christmas. 😔
That happened to me too, not the first room as i guessed those were stairs but i got stuck as i couldn't tell where the house exit was. Pokemon gold was my first game, so, yeah. hes not alone
I remember in FireRed I didn't like using items that weren't healing items, which honestly could be a lot worse when playing Pokemon, but I sold every other item that wasn't a healing item or TM(fun fact, I didn't even know TMs could be sold)
When my dad gave me my first ds and pokemon game, i didn’t know that the game didn’t autosave. So i played until my DS died, and oh boy that was not fun.
Blank Nothing when I first got Pokemon X. I also thought there was an autosave feature. Keep in mind I was about 6. I didn’t manage to play the game and complete it until I was 12😂
Lars Karlsson I mean despite people who are really good at Pokémon telling me not to have all attack moves, I’m going to continue having only attack moves on my Pokémon
@@WyWinner30 right. Most special moves suck and dont have that big of an advantage in my experience. Unless it's like snorlax or something that benefits heavily from special moves. They usually get you killed.
Don't forget, Held Items is also super useful. Because of the items that can be held by Pokemon can boost your speed, attack, & moves depending on what type. Make sure you use it super cleverly, so, it will be strong. Some of the Held Items can make yòh strike 1st in battle. & Some of the items can boost your defense, especially special stats.

Not true, the results in the casino are determined when you start to play no matter when you tap

I still do that, then proceed to faceroll the game.
I did this for like 10 years dude!
I still do that when playing through older games. But then I use my starter to train my other pokemon by switching out.
When I was a kid I didn't understand any move that didn't do any damage.
That's my dad even today
Now, as an adult, I realize how buffing moves can get ridiculous. In gen three, the flying type gym leader had an altaria that she buffed with one move repeatedly, then swept entire teams with single attacks on each member.
The "forgot to save" happened to me once and I lost my Zygarde. I remember going on panic mode and tried to catch it again but this time the ultra balls I had weren't enough.
I didn’t manage to play the game and complete it until I was 12😂
Sg. TBX damn unlucky dude
Holy shit same
So... u only completed it this year?
Nicole12890 Your logic blows my mind.
Pokemon Masters: Don't only have attack moves
Me: *I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that*
what do you mean
Lars Karlsson I mean despite people who are really good at Pokémon telling me not to have all attack moves, I’m going to continue having only attack moves on my Pokémon
@@WyWinner30 right. Most special moves suck and dont have that big of an advantage in my experience. Unless it's like snorlax or something that benefits heavily from special moves. They usually get you killed.
WhatsAToad same
Me: ummm I regret everything I did in pokemon...
auto save: 10 - 15 mins
me: manual saving once or twice to be safe
So true lol
Don't forget, Held Items is also super useful. Because of the items that can be held by Pokemon can boost your speed, attack, & moves depending on what type. Make sure you use it super cleverly, so, it will be strong. Some of the Held Items can make yòh strike 1st in battle. & Some of the items can boost your defense, especially special stats.
My sister:what happened to my torchic?
My sister:I'm gonna restart it
Me again:wait what happened
My sister:my torchic have a different colour
This is pain
It’s a shiny I-
@@dashrith1831 shut it
That was a shiney
@@dashrith1831 ...I like to read huge comments
@@dashrith1831 I would, but I didnt
i used my master ball on a meowth in pokemon leaf green, just because i haven't encountered any of them before and i thought they were super rare
When I was 8 I didn't know what saving is so I thought I had to beat pokemon black without closing the ds... R.I.P.
I’m sorry for y
I was stuck in Camphrier town because I didnt know how to get past the snorlax blocking the bridge
I used to hold my breath when catching a Pokemon. It actually surprisingly worked. I would try to just breathe normally and about 90% of the time the Pokemon would bust out of the ball.
