The worst part is that Devion was just collateral. She literally didn’t care that she was going to kill an extra person that had nothing to do with her relationship bs. Poor kid just wanted to go home and got in the car of someone he trusted to do that. I hope they don’t let her out on parole.

Actually, im pretty sure it was stated that Mackenzie said that her and Dom were in a 'rush' yet Devion wanted a ride, and Dom allowed it. That could have an affect to it and her goal could have been to kill all 3 of them, yet only killed the two. Either way, it's very unfortunate this happened and nothing can be justified

The sentence should clearly be life to lifex2 at best, but we've reached the point where the government isn't willing to spend the tax dollars. The death sentence needs to be brought back, but no society is like "That's too cruel!"

What hurts is as a parent, you expect to outlive your children, you expect to spend your last moments with your child by your side, so the pain of knowing you're going to outlive your child is something unfathomable. I am not a parent, I will never be a parent, but I can only imagine the hurt of losing a child is something nobody should have to go through.

People in chat asking "how is he not crying" when police went to Dom's dad must not have been through anything truly traumatic.
my dad dropped dead in the bathtub out of nowhere and I had to pull him out and perform CPR until the EMTs came, then I had to inform everyone in the family he died (my mom died 2 years prior) and then go through the process of planning the funeral and dealing with the courts for his estate crap (he ain't got shit lol) but I didn't shed a single tear until after we buried him cuz my brain went straight into crisis mode to make sure everything got done and I was strong for my siblings.

To the people saying “How’s he not crying?”
World Cup 2016. My family was watching the Match that day at my grandparents and my Uncle got mad his team was losing. So he went to his apartment down the road (The property had my grandparents house and 2 apartments so he was living one of them)
He doesn’t come back, but we don’t think much of it, he might’ve been mad about it.
We go down to search for something when my cousins screamed. We immediately rush to find him laying face down.
One of them is crying crazy. My aunt is in distraught. My other cousin is trying to tell him to get up.
I? He was a second father figure to me. Yet I was only able to stand there, in shock. My sister was trying to find out the emergencies phone number (Not in the US) I immediately said it to her. Because my mind immediately went into scan everything mode.
My parents’ car had a sticker with the emergencies number on the windshield. And I had memorized it via accident.
After the paramedics arrived and determined dead, that’s when I started crying and showing my emotions.
We all deal with stuff like this differently.

ETA: my work mom is married to a cop; She refuses to look at his phone unless he actively shows her something, not only bc he’s an extremely trustworthy man, but because sometimes they have to take pictures of the scene on their personal phone and can’t delete them bc it could be considered tampering w/ evidence during a current investigation, whether it’s documenting abuse marks or a 💀body

She honestly thought she’d die in that crash and when she didn’t she thought she got away with it and was partying it up.
They showed some evidence that she was abusing and threatening her boyfriend before this, that he tried breaking up with her multiple times but she’d just come to his house and wait outside for him. And there’s recordings he made of her telling him he’s not allowed to break up with her and she’s doesn’t care what he wants.

I had that kind of reaction when my step dad passed. I won’t get into the specifics of it, but it was while he was working away and he was supposed to be coming home next week. I can still viably remember the sequence of events of me finding out. I was just watching some dumb RUclips videos, heard my mum and my siblings crying, went rushing out to see what was going on, and my mum told me he died the night before.
That was the first time I ever saw my mum cry in such a way, I spent a majority of the rest of the day just going around and comforting my family while I kinda just remained in this state of shock. It wasn’t until one day I had gone out shopping and I came back to his car being in the front yard anymore for a split second, I thought he had come home, only to then quickly remember that not even a week or so ago I was at his funeral did I finally cry.
Grief comes in all shapes and forms, but it hurts all the same when you get to the point of realising that while you still have those bits and pieces that belonged to that person, you will never see them in the living flesh again.

the seatbelt thing being speculative of premeditated murder seems like a reach. since i was kid, the first thing i’d do whenever i get in a car is put on my seatbelt, no matter where i sat. it’s to the point where if i don’t, i feel anxious.
i always tell my friends to put on a seatbelt when i’m driving even if they’re sitting in the backseat and they always like to tell me i’m “not cool” or overreacting but it’s a safety thing. in this case, i doubt that seatbelt would’ve helped too much because the car was completely smashed but there’s this story my dad told me when i was younger about a famous christian artist who got into an accident. he flew out of his car when it flipped cuz he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt and got ran over by an 18 wheeler. that stuck with me. The artist is Rich Mullins btw.

The brain does weird things to protect you, especially during times like this. So the father, when people were pointing out he wasn't crying, his brain was probably not processing it for his own protection. Could also be denial.
I remember this case very well. She didn't plan to kill Dom's friend, she just planned on possibly killing Dom and herself. Why do you think she had tried declining Dom's friend from coming with?

remember. a sentence that says "x TO life" means that it's not just the x amount of years. don't forget the word that matters there. it depends on the parole board of the state to determine if she can get out in 15 years and, if she messes up in prison or still shows that she's a pos (and she probably will; narcissist abusers do not change easily), they'll deny her. there's also a ton of info she might end up spilling or further destroying herself with. sadly it does mean that in 15 years, the boys' families will have to petition and relive all that trauma....

I know because my friend who was sober was hit at 70 Mi an hour by a driver who is coming down the wrong side of the street and hit her head first, and because of how drunk he was he was able to survive it. We thought she was alive until we found she was killed on impact, man was college age and three times above the drinking limit.

It’s terrible that two innocent lives were lost because of her insanity. R.I.P. to both of the lives that were lost. I’m glad she’s in jail for a long time.

I hate cases where parents try to protect their crazy ass kids from consequences especially when they are suspected for MURDER. They are only thinking about themselves what about the other parents that literally lost their kids.

(My moms been cancer free like 3-4 months now shes fine 😅)

Damn I gotta ask for permission to go out. And I even get denied to go out at times. Only reason why I can go out sometimes is cuz I’ve known my friends since like… 4th grade mostly, and we starting 3rd year college. Plus they drive so I always got a ride but I have a curfew too.

it be reasons like these where i think toxic relationships should be monitored or at least the victim should be able to get some kinda mental help for their abuser and themselves if they cant mentally escape the relationship. or have some kinda protection for the victim tryna leave.
