Being in a first responder job can take a toll on peoples mental especially when its your first time and you felt you could have prevented it. You could he laying bleeding to death and you won’t get immediate help because of the shooter is still at large. It was wild and I nearly cried over a drill!! 😭
I remember this case because my mom told me about it, coincidentally this happened on my birthday.. We used to live in that exact area for 3 years and never in our lives did we see anything like this. It wasn’t common for something like that to happen since the town was small and quiet most of the time, barely anything major happened. I understand the confusion. When I was at UT we had an active shooter and had to lock ourselves in a lecture hall. There was a text message system to alert us that something was wrong and we locked the door. However, it felt like a lifetime just waiting to figure out what was going on. They were worried that there was a second shooter, though there was none. Swat teams were methodically clearing out buildings but as y'all know, it's not a small campus. TLDR miraculously the only person who was hurt was the shooter, and he did it to himself. Could have been worse and I wish this wasn't a thing that people would ever go through.
