Ngl this one feels like the purest line even though Fir did i with only 3 co-ordinates. It passes through the center of the map, it's the longest possible path, gives a cooking pot making it the only one to be able to cook, the line gives everything you need to pass the unpassable, and most importantly... it's diagonal. Neither up to down or left and right, perfect balance. Blinded by rage the Verch and Herch failed to see that only when they put there differences aside could they reach the true line.
it's not the longest though the map of hyrule isn't a square so you could corner to corner and it'd be a bit longer, but keeping track of the position would be a nightmare

This video and Firs video releasing on the same day with basically the same title is kinda crazy 😅 like I click off of firs video and immediately see this one
I commented on Eric's video that someone should do a diagonal line to complete the holy trifecta. I was kidding because I thought it would be too complicated to keep track. You sir are a god and I will be renouncing my faith to the hurch and be joining the durch.
By keeping the (rounded) coordinates within 5 of each other, the line is actually 6*sqrt(2) meters wide, or approximately 8.5m. That is actually 1.5m wider than pointcrows +-3m line (which was 7m total).
The actual width of the line, would be closer to 7 meters, still longer than the 6 meters it should be with an allowance of 3 meters on either side. If he wanted to allow a difference of 5 between coordinates he gave the wrong tolerance on the line, and if he wanted a 3 meter tolerance on the line then the maximum allowed difference was actually only 4. To use the pythogorean theorem to find the difference in coordinates allowed, a and b should be the tolereance allowed for your line (3), and c is the maximum difference in coordinates allowed. Imagine a right triangle where one point (not the one with the right angle) is exactly on the line, and the other two are on a line parallel to it 3 meters away (the outer allowed boundary). The hypotenuse is the maximum difference in coordinates allowed.
@@thomaskessler7114 That is correct if you assume precise coordinates, but you have to remember the fact that they are rounded to integers, making it possible to go slightly further in some spots without the rounded values exceeding a difference of 5. When accounting for that, the maximum width is around 8.5.
It seems the hardest part of these challenges is just keeping track of how far off the line you are. Someone should make a mod that just makes the coordinates easier to track.
The line being diagonal makes for a particularly interesting challenge and, like you said it is the longest line so far. The luck you had was fascinating. But seeing as Fir only allowed 1 metre on either side I think his line is probably the straightest possible.
This needs way more attention, a diagonal line is insane! I commented on one of the previous line videos that the true challenge would be a diagonal line, and you made it happen!!
I did appreciate the other 3 people's attempt at this challenge, but always wondered why no one considered trying a diagonal line. Seeing that it can be done makes me happy and goes to show this challenge is FAR from over on how far we can take it.
As someone who is terrible with numbers and math things it took me until he conquered the bridge at 12:50 to figure out how the 5 unit difference worked. In case anyone else has trouble mathing like I did (not about WHY it was 5, but HOW the 5 worked on the coordinate numbers) - it's the max difference 5 between them, and both will always be changing. So unlike the straight lines where it's 1/3/5 added to either side, this is keeping that difference of 5 in the middle. Trey's "perfect" line would be both numbers staying identical the entire way through and there is no "cap" number on either side, the cap is maxing out at a difference of 5 between them. It's more like being handcuffed to yourself than handcuffed to another person. I'm someone that needs both verbal and visual guides to figure stuff like that out, I'm sure Trey explained it fine for other people.
We looked at that one, but it would be really tough! Either you'd have to include Eventide Island, or your numbers would be super confusing the whole time because you wouldn't be trying to keep them equal. But theoretically possible!
Now for the other diagonal! Also, the longest line would stretch from corner to corner. Would require computer vision to read the coordinates and calculate how far off you are. Next challenge?
So I was in today's pointcrow stream and asked: "hey Eric, did you she the video of the guy that did the diagonal line in totk?" Chat was so hurt I didn't know you LOL. This is the first time YT suggests me your video. Eric politely answered that you are his close friend! But chat was hurting lol
