I've already got LibreElec running on a device and really find it easy to use, I've also got a device that is running Windows, which I actually find a nightmare to use with kodi, thanks to your video I'm now going to change the OS to OSMC as I feel kodi will run more smoothly, and still allow me to access other services outside of kodi which I do require on this device. Thank you for your ideas and a great video.
Thanks DT. A couple weeks in now & I've had no issues with OSMC thus far under moderate usage. It's pretty rare tho, that you get to choose between 2 quality OS's so well-suited for such a specific job on a specific platform.
Good to hear, TBH I had retropi on there but I could never get the Ps4 or xbox wired controller configured so my PizeroW has just been sitting around. Figured Id put it to use, now I just need to design a sick case :)
@@dannytsuji807 Right on.. post back what you do - I am planning to get into the case issue in a later video. Not sure if I will try custom yet or not, but def want something more weighty & cooler than the cheap poly job. Looking for ideas :)
@@grokshop will do, this is the one Im using now www.thingiverse.com/thing:2543634 I made it a while back but yea all the case's need a good system for keeping them in place. I was thinking some tiny suction cups would be a better alternative than double stick tape that'll rip off the paint or leave sticky gunk.
I want to test both OSes while playing 1080p video, but for some reason LibreElec doesn't like the 'top -bn1' command. I get : 'dumb': unknown terminal type.' Do you have to do something different in the script for LibreElec?
I got my Raspberry pi B+ running as a Video Media server with libreElec but I want to view movies on a laptop or tablet via WiFi access point and have remote WiFi access for programming, so would OSMC be the better choice? I'm a Newbee so I'll need knowledgeable help, like youtube tutorials, with the coding on the access point and WiFi configs.
If you start kodi up on your laptop and have allowed for sharing of the libraries then you can make that a video source on the one you watch. Now you can access the library from one kodi to another
all i get is a rainbow screen when insert the sd card. only raspbian OS seems to work. i tried everything including redownloading to make sure it is not corrupt and trying different sd cards. nothing works please help. im using a 3B+
Love the presentation and way selections were narrowed down. This is 5 years old now but still really relevant info. Thanks!

Maybe you'd want try alternatives to Retropie like Recalbox, Batocera and Lakka.
