Great winter loadout, I use the rush 72 for extra room, and keep the same gear year round. With a 40° bag, insulated sleep pad and hammock. I add extra clothes, and another blanket in winter. This isnt for everybody but works great for me.
What about hygiene supplies? Ive had wipes freeze in my pack so i keep a ziplock bag of tp just in case. And an E-tool shovel lol. I also throw in hand warmers. Cheap, light weight and takes up no space but can definitely boost moral, or save your fingers if they get wet and freeze
Wow, some unexpected hate for us Canucks brother.... not cool...lol. It's not too bad up here. I guess just some people are tougher than others.... it's ok. I understand....haha. Cheers from Alberta!!!
Branches scraping in the wind, owls, frogs, cicadas can make tremendous amounts of noise and they often dont stop until 1 am. Then the gd crows start in before dawn. Earplugs also keep bugs from taking up habitation in your ear. If you've ever have a moth fluttering against your ear drum, or a big beetle clawing at it, you'll know that you should have heeded that warning. Pain will drive you insane in a few minutes. and you are most unlikely to handle this emergency by yourself.
My emergency calorie boost I have in my truck and pack is Honey Stingers. Tastes great, small, packed with calories, and like the Paydays, no chocolate to melt.
I don’t know all I know is i’m 67 years old camp in 70s and 80s and 90s we didn’t have half the crap you’re talking about. Grabbed a sleeping bag and a tent and camped for days in the Adirondack mountains during the same temperatures you’re talking about. We were young, but was no big deal.
Jason, I have seen so many videos over many years now of your pack and load out both on this channel and your own On3 channel and I have never seen you packing a wool blanket. I’ve seen your sleeping pad that you cut down, your Escape bivvy, your hammock and other sleeping gear, but never a wool blanket. What’s up with that? Why have you never shown us or mentioned that before?n
the air never escapes from under my 1 lb net hammock, :-) I jus t set it at 6" off of the ground when it's cold and kick debris under it to stop air flow. Sedatives, folks, sleep mask and earplugs. they have almost no bulk or weight, but they make a HUGE difference in whether or not you get enough restorative sleep. I use a modified 1 lb buttpack and a 1.6 lb daypack, So I can empty them out, stuff them with debris and use them as sleeping pads, normally up in the hammock. i toss and turn a lot on the ground and I wind up being off of the sleeping pad, wet, cold, unable to sleep again. That sucks SO bad. With a hammock, I dont need a pee jar and I dont need to get up and freeze my butt off in the middle of the night, either. My hammock can feed me if need be. I dont believe that any sleeping pad can do that. My hammock can hold a big layer of dry debris around me as I hike and no sleeping pad can do that. As longjohns, I use a pair of Amazon 1/4 lb each bugnet "suits" and a couple of their 1/2 lb each "cut-leaf:' style of camo net. I twist the camo nets before I wrap them around myself, between the bugnet suits and gain at least 10F degrees of warmth. This netting holds my cammies well away from my body, so my sweat never wets them. I wear the reflective tyvek bivy as a poncho, it's got full zippers and will 'lay flat", like a tarp. I envelope it in a large plastic bag. The layer of trapped air so gained adds amazing amounts of insulation and I CAN stuff dry debris between the bivy and the envelope. You need the hammock or lots of debris between the bivy and the envelope in order to make this work. All potential air leaks have to be sealed with Gorilla tape. I dont believe you about 0F in just a puffy jacket, the sleeping pad, and the bivy. The army says that even with the addition of the patrol bag, the comfort temp is just 30F and that's LONG ways from 0F, when trying to sleep. A puffy doesn't do a damned thing for your legs. or feet. My set up, without the added debris, lets me sleep ok at 30F, and it's more versatile in the ways i can set it up. you have nothing for when you have to walk out in the rain, wind and cold, bugs. You have nothing that helps you hide from game or enemies, either. I can used debris to get me down to sleeping ok at 10F, without any extra clothing or heat source. If it's colder, I can use hand warrmers, hot rocks, heavier clothing. I can also use calisthenics and the UCO lanten and a slingchair reclining position to get thru the night. I can "aim" my 3x4 sheet of clear PEVA shower curtain at a siberian fire lay, or at the morning sun and gain a lot of warmth in that manner. setting it up like a Kochanski supershelter,l
That TRC Outdoors dry sack has my name on it.. Lately I depend on Honey Stingers for saving babies.. Pack load out looks good to me bro- what’s the worst that can happen?
Thanks for the breakdown! Could you help me with something unrelated: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). Could you explain how to move them to Binance?
My go to ration are $3 energy bars. They are dense calories with good balance of fat and protein and they taste ok. But they aren't great so I don't steal them.

I grew up in Nebraska, don’t regret the winters or the farming. Now in SW Louisiana, don’t mind the gardening vs large farm.

Ha! I’ve been holding out on you I guess. 🤣
The wool blanket goes with me pretty often. It is a pretty amazing piece of shelter.

That is prepared.
O bought a big agnes bag . Do not waste 300 dollars ! It sucks for a side sleeper . Total waste of money 😢
Interesting. I sleep on my side mostly as well. Wonder why it’s not working for you.

It's a bizarre you believe you are..., but you're not a durable human. Comfortable climates are the enemy...
