One thing I love about Family is it was one show that always had integrity. Never any cheesy storylines or playing a character for laughs. Each actor carried their role with such professionalism and faced the difficult situations head on. I miss this kind of show.
same! Well, not James Broderick, but older than everyone else in this episode...Probably cause I was 4 years old when this originally aired...but still...I now relate to Doug and Kate's 'middle aged' take on life 😅
My parents were VERY strict about allowing me to watch any tv show, so I began to scheduling babysitting jobs just so I could watch Family lol! Missed this show and it covered many topics that had been taboo up until this time!
wondering if we had the same parents?! lol... cause this and many other relevant TV shows late '70s/early '80s were strictly forbidden in my house as well...ONLY way I could feel like I had a clue about what was happening in the real world at the time was to babysit...like all the time...Got me out of the confines of rigidity and allowed me to discover awesome shows like this one
Wow, great episode thanks for sharing. Linda Lavin is outstanding here: tough, soft, vulnerable, witty, warm….she hits all the right notes in a rather difficult portrayal. “Annie Laurie” also won the 1979 Humanitas Prize award for 60 minute programs. “Family” won this award three times in five years.
Kate was often unfulfilled and unhappy and eventually got a job as a high school music teacher at Buddy's school. Then she felt happier and more useful.
Linda Lavin a legend Growing up in the in the 20th century I watched Alice every week it was one my favorites sometimes I still catch the reruns it still stands the test of time and makes me laugh and long for the good old days 😄 Farhana
I have never seen any of Linda Lavin's movies as I was in Germany at the time. They are pretty good. Thanks for showing them. I am binge watching them now.
I remember in the late 1970,s Linda Lavin and Kristy Mcnichol did a television 📺 movie called my mother and me where, Linda Lavin played Kristy Mcnichol single mother they were both amazing in the movie I loved Linda Lavin as the other woman in Family Farhana
We were the last generation before the destruction of the family unit (the building block of society), love and respect for our country....I feel fortunate
You forget that on this show Willie and Nancy were very promiscuous. Family values?? I guess they were finding themselves in the 1970s and heading into the "Me Decade" of the 1980s.🤨
Im from Ireland. I have never seen this show. She was so young in the show anf so attractive. It was made very tastefully. Fair play to the husband, he wasnt unfaithful. Thank you for sharing.🤗⚘🤗⚘🤗⚘🤗⚘
I love 💞 this TV 📺 Show Family when I was little I was first one to finish eating 😋 just the to watch Family on TV 📺 it was my favorite TV 📺 Show with so much Mama Joy ❤️
One of my all time favorite series. Great cast, interesting subjects. Sada Thompson was perfect in her role. I used to watch it every Sunday night. My Grandmother would always ask me if I was going to come into the den and ask if I was going to watch "Sada" with her. It was on at 10 p.m. here, some of the subjects they covered were too "racy" for prime time, in the 70s. Unmarried people were having sex (clutching my pearls)!
cool episode, cool show. brought back memories of my teens watching this on a thirteen inch black and white tv; with a big crush on McNichol. tom boy and all.
There’s no way in the world Linda Lavin’s character Annie would have fallen in love with an old, married man... she’s too attractive to settle. BTW, the exterior shot of the hotel Linda Lavin’s character is staying at is The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, California.
You never see him taking Kate on a romantic date or to dinner or for a walk in the park.. heck he doesn't even use the same grateful tone of voice to Kate either.
Doug should have divorced Kate and married Annie. They seem more compatible. If not get married, just cheat on Kate with Annie so that he would be happy at least.
This story line so reminds me of Meredith Baxter's movie about Dan Broderick!! Her hubby out with another woman, though Dan was cheating.......how ironic
Me too. They need to create an iconic category where they give an Emmy for a timeless past performance, and give it to Meredith - if she didn't already get it for that movie.
LINDA LAVIN OF ALICE THE WAITRESS FAME ON A CBS SITCOM. WITH VIC TAYBACK & THE WAITRESS W/BIG HAIR & GUM SMACKING & WISECRACKING FAME. IN MY OPINION A LITTLE INNOCENT FLIRTING IS GOOD FOR AN EGO BOOST. I WOULD NEVER CROSS THE LINE. TOO MANY PEOPLE WOULD GET HURT!!!! GREAT SHOW & WRITING & ACTORS!!!! I'VE BEEN BINGE WATCHING EVERY CHANGE I GET!!!! YEA!!!!! THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!!!😊👍💝😃🫶💕💋♥️🌙🤣😘💓😊😍🌄👌😁💕♥️🌙🎨💰🙄😲👍👌😊🙏💕 I aways thought Gary Frank would go father in the tv/ film bushes. I liked him alot!!! THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF AFFAIRS EMOTIONAL & PHYSICAL. I'M GUILTY OF HAVING AN EMOTIONAL ONE WHEN MY MARRIAGE WAS FAILING I TURNED TO A HIGH SCHOOL CLASSMATE FOR EMOTIONAL SUPPORT PRIOR TO MY DIVORCE. I NEVER FELT GUILTY. MY EX HUSBAND KNEW HOW TO PLAY POOL/ BILLARDS AS DID HIS OLDER BROTHERS ALL THREE OF THEM. THIS YEAR HAS BEEN A REAL ROLLERCOASTER RIDE. SIX MONTHS AGO MY EX DIED UNEXPECTEDLY & SUDDENLY. OUR ADULT MILLENNIAL CHILDREN TOOK IT HARD. LIFE IS UNFAIR & BRUTAL TOO. IT SUCKS!!!!! This was an excellent episode reminding us of what we have in each other when there is communication & trust & love with emotional support. SINGLES MUST LEARN HOW TO EXIST AS A SINGLE PERSON GOING ALONE TO EAT & GOING TO FILMS ALONE. THE GRASS MAY SEEM TO BE GREENER ON THE OTHER SIDE!!!

I see this and I'm 10 years old again... funny part everyone got old but I still see them like this.
:) Yes and I love it!
One of the most beautiful shows 💚
Yes it was I grew up with this show in the 70s. A era sooooooo different from today 😭
@@AnthonyWilliams-li5mz ~ Yes and one I'm so glad I was a part of, albeit just a young kid.
💯❤️
One of the best shows in tv history!
Wow, I so miss these times and I can't believe that I'm older than the parents now that I thought were so ancient then!
Me too!!
Me too..well not the dad
same! Well, not James Broderick, but older than everyone else in this episode...Probably cause I was 4 years old when this originally aired...but still...I now relate to Doug and Kate's 'middle aged' take on life 😅

Yes I agree.
This was and still is a warm comforting family show for it's time.
Wish we could go back to 1976. ❤️😢❤️
wondering if we had the same parents?! lol... cause this and many other relevant TV shows late '70s/early '80s were strictly forbidden in my house as well...ONLY way I could feel like I had a clue about what was happening in the real world at the time was to babysit...like all the time...Got me out of the confines of rigidity and allowed me to discover awesome shows like this one
It was definitely an incredible show.Love all the characters .
Great actors and actresses!
This show especially was a treat having Linda Lavin in it!

Our sweet little Linda playing the homewrecker! Great episode.. I really enjoyed it!
This is definitely one of my favorite episodes🎬🎥
Linda Lavin has always given us her Best,an impeccable actress⭐🌟🌠
Watching shows back from those gone days,
takes me back when things were not as crazy as they are now days...
I love this show!
Love Linda Lavin she looks just like my favorite Aunt from N.Y.C. everytime I see Linda I think of my Auntie!
Does she sing as pretty as Alice...Linda Lavin😊
One of the best shows of the 70s....Kate always the happy homemaker and making dinner every night just like my mom.thank you...making my Friday
Was this a series?
Happy home maker!
Kate was often unfulfilled and unhappy and eventually got a job as a high school music teacher at Buddy's school. Then she felt happier and more useful.

Loved loved this show
I loved Kristy Mcnichol she was someone that I looked up too as a young teenager woman in the 1970,s
Me too!
I came for the Family, but stayed for the Lavin.
You're crazy. 🤡💩
Linda lavin ...thank you for being a wonderful part of my life. I was the same age as Tommy.
I remember in the late 1970,s Linda Lavin and Kristy Mcnichol did a television 📺 movie called my mother and me where, Linda Lavin played Kristy Mcnichol single mother they were both amazing in the movie I loved Linda Lavin as the other woman in Family Farhana
Thank God the Dad was a man of integrity. It was hard to see LL as a potential home wrecker.
I moved to Europe in 1973, and am only now getting caught up on everything I missed. Cute show!
Welcome back!
They did cover important topics, but with compassion.
Feeling melancholy watching this. Wish that I could go back to 14 years old for a do over.
Im from Ireland. I have never seen this show. She was so young in the show anf so attractive. It was made very tastefully. Fair play to the husband, he wasnt unfaithful. Thank you for sharing.🤗⚘🤗⚘🤗⚘🤗⚘
One of the few shows that tried to inject some semblance of reality into it's writing, directing and acting.
I was sad when they cancelled it!
Did I forget to mention that Linda Lavin sang the theme song too her show Alice one talented lady
We all knew that Linda Lavin sang the theme song to her own show Alice😊🌹
I love 💞 this TV 📺 Show Family when I was little I was first one to finish eating 😋 just the to watch Family on TV 📺 it was my favorite TV 📺 Show with so much Mama Joy ❤️
I totally forgot I used to watch this show until I started watching this episode. And produced by Aaron Spelling. Classic.
One of my all time favorite series. Great cast, interesting subjects. Sada Thompson was perfect in her role. I used to watch it every Sunday night. I don't know how Kate is so forgiving, and does so quickly, but I guess that's part of her charm.
Love Willy, too.
I always thought Linda was from NY or NJ but she’s from Maine! Wonder where that accent came from
She knows he's married. Even meets his wife and family!! Who does she think she is??
And Annie Laurie even has a little duper's delight on her face at 12:35 when Kate finds them at the piano.
This was on two years before I was born! Never heard of it until now!
This episode 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This is the original version.
Now it's on Tubi digitally upgraded!
Linda is so underrated! She also teaches acting.
cool episode, cool show. brought back memories of my teens watching this on a thirteen inch black and white tv; with a big crush on McNichol. tom boy and all.
Yes oldie but goodie💜
Linda Lavin❤
I never realized how pretty Linda was. At that time I probably thought she was 100 years old lol
Actually there is no romantic chemistry between Kate and Doug
She was doing ‘Alice’ on CBS and guest starred on ‘Family’ on ABC?
There’s no way in the world Linda Lavin’s character Annie would have fallen in love with an old, married man... she’s too attractive to settle. BTW, the exterior shot of the hotel Linda Lavin’s character is staying at is The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, California.
Buddy was such a stud.
Kate is beautiful and statuesque. I'm glad things worked out for them ♥️🙏
Great movie 🎥 🍿
I had a roommate who said her mother was roommates with Linda. I didn’t get a lot of gossip but she said her mom really liked LL.
There's a new girl in town, and she's......oh wait that's Linda's other show. LOL
😊🤭🤣
Television is crap today compared to this.
You never see him taking Kate on a romantic date or to dinner or for a walk in the park.. heck he doesn't even use the same grateful tone of voice to Kate either.
Why did Warner Brothers and CBS let her take this role for Fox and ABC?
how easy is mr family omg
He cheated on her before, when Buddy was young. One of the first few episodes mentions it.
Does she take care of that house by herself? Love the show.
Poor Kate
Doug disrespecting her, acting a fool.
In this chapter the old man was very shameless
LL's character forgot that Doug has a WIFE and a FAMILY??? She was focused only on her selfish needs.
Oh boo hoo poor despicable you. 🤡
is this the prequel to Fatal Attraction? jeez! she was aggressive!! 😆
Bad, bad Linda! You're so good at being bad...
Doug should have divorced Kate and married Annie. They seem more compatible. If not get married, just cheat on Kate with Annie so that he would be happy at least.
💘 MONTY LOVES ALICE 💘
This story line so reminds me of Meredith Baxter's movie about Dan Broderick!! Her hubby out with another woman, though Dan was cheating.......how ironic
A Woman Scorned - true story - check it out - I have seen it at least 3 times...
Me too. They need to create an iconic category where they give an Emmy for a timeless past performance, and give it to Meredith - if she didn't already get it for that movie.
There is no chemistry
secrets
The blonde girl - Audrey… think she was in the movie Harper Valley PTA?
Wow she’s so old now...she looks like her own grandmother!!

Meredith Baxter and Linda lavin don't get engh credit for the movies they do. 👑
Kate looks like Shirley Temple-Black.
