''We've Come So Far'' My god, what a great track.
ikr!!!
best live performance video ever on kexp
They are literally self-mixing that on an old tascam porta-studio. Crazy.
I use a tascam ports studio as well and it's badass.
today i met the guitarist and he is a very nice person. We talked a bit and then he tried one of my uncle's amp,he fell in love with it
He's from the town I'm from. Fredericksburg, Virginia
+Lucas Crossett isn't him from New York?
alfio orlando he moved to Brooklyn after his previous band Skywave broke up
Hes the owner/builder of Death by Audio pedals
Best band ever!
I love this fucking band.
Alejandro Arturo i fuck this loving band :D
Saw these guys last night at Psych Fest and fell in love.
Bethany Gesch gah that was such an awesome set!
Did Oliver destroy his Jaguar at Levitation?
I dunno if he destroyed it but he did a good job of throwing it around, that is for sure.
Hart island, NYC!!
literally gritting my teeth at how loud this about to get.
he played the shit out of that strobe
+delnuggets man, i've seen some things but never seen a real live strobist.
By most it's called strobe-slide-guitar. Most accomplished professionals prefer Xenon over pure 'METAL' Halides....
amazing!
I hear bauhaus and 80's goth postpunk elements in this! Bloody awesome. Still sounds freshly done.
Awesome!
I like it ..
Excited to see you here in Minneapolis.
speechless... thank u guys!please come back in Lille-la péniche!!! it was pure sonicbliss
Much obliged, mate!!
power!
joy divisions sound scrambled through time. What I mean, Just great
💛💛
Damn.. Mogwai meet your match! We need more bands of this cloth.. And, the media needs to focus more on the substance and not necessarily the style..
fucking awesome band
Super master’s

Oliver is a king of shoegaze!
nope, Kevin Shield is
farhan naufal fadli he said "A" not "The"
I feel bad for Oliver's Jaguar. It looks so destroyed here. Most of the entire upper horn is missing, which is why his strap peg is on the back of the neck joint. At same point, you just get another one and keep that one for the studio. He needs to have a model made by Fender, or even a Squier, with lipstick tubes, so he can get them and toss them around without as much concern, since they would just mail him new ones as needed lol.
Sandor Clegane on drums
Oliver's accent sounds so unique imo xD
the drummer has a pedal board? wat
Scova Notian yep!that's the point...awesome sound from a to z and beyond!
The singer/guitarist is the founder of "Death By Audio," the pedal company.
The front singer looks like a combination of Lee Pace and Nicholas Cage.
Jonas Christensen jut add a big blonde moustache on that bassist's face and tell what you would think haha
Jonas Christensen I can't get Nicolas Cage out of my brain now
Jonas Christensen i'm with joseph bae. i can't not see that now.
+Jonas Christensen holy shit, spot on.
Is there a name for putting reverb after your distortion and strumming between the bridge and the tremolo on a jaguar?? I always called it "Sune-ing."
+Nicholas Alexander hey mate, its called sympathetic resonance which is far from catchy. 'splanking' maybe better?
Maybe not in a traditional sense but the Raveonettes get a lot of mileage out of it.
+Nicholas Alexander dont know the Raveonettes mate but sonic youth built a career on it!
I just call it playing behind the bridge.
Most people put the reverb after the distortion. It's crazy fuckers like Kevin Shields who put the reverb BEFORE the distortion and thus entire sounds are made for decades. Usually the classic reverse reverb found form an Alesis MidiVerb, of course. Strumming behind the bridge is something I've heard a few people do, usually people with Jaguars/Jazzmasters and Gibson 335s since those have a decent length of strings from the bridge to the tailpiece. Sonic Youth used it a lot, and I remember hearing Porl Thompson from the Cure use it quite a bit as well at times.
how the hell did they light this? I know the strobes are controlled by triggers but the projections... I can't figure out where they wouldve mounted it to cover this type of room. anybody got some wisdom around this type of projecting?
***** woops, there they are. pretty much on the floor. good old APTBS not giving a fuck.
I know this is a weird comment and I fully expect some grief or disagreement on it but I think Kurt Cobain would have a certain appreciation for these guys. I've been a huge Nirvana fan since I was about 8 years old (30 now) and I get a similar sense of artistry and aggression from APTBS. Love these guys and always relish the things they produce.
Totally! Nirvana was my favorite when I was teenager and these guys for the last 5 years
Yea? Well fuck Nirvana.
bob dongson there it is lol
bradfeige yep...filiation here...circle completes...
teebosaurusyou i m with u...hail to aptbs😊
wtf did he start doing at 7:35ish XD
The best fuckin thing ever
it's actually kinda neat, guitar pickups can get a lot of RF noise from strobe lights and it creates a weird squealing noise.
But mostly the grinding noise and visual effect is cool
singer's voice reminds me of morrisey
some know what kind of drum machine they're using at 17:40?
ROLAND AIRA TR-8
I wish they had played "Ego Death"...
Oof. That tune will always destroy me. Fantastic.
Duuuuuude
Something kinda funny was that I play in a band mildly similar to these guys (not as good clearly :P), and wrote a song by the same name before I even knew about them lol
Is that....A dismembered Jaguar?
it is! and sometimes severely molested!
f'n eh!
So extra just tell me you cant play guitar dude
Too much effects for me...It's only about electronique...i wonder if they could create something good with dry instruments. I saw them in france, it was boring but i truely respect their experimentations
Neil Habib Georges Music I'm going to go one step further and say they have too many instruments for me. I wonder if they could create something good without all of those guitar and drum things. If they all just sat down and used their mouths only, like Bobby McFerrin, then they'd not be so boring. That Don't Worry, Be Happy, was such a great song. People should just keep doing THAT over and over again. And I agree: They're boring live. What they need is a lead singer like David Lee Roth who wears lots of rags and jumps around, doing leg kicks AND they need back-up dancers like Rihanna or Gwen Stefani. Then this band would be good live.
+Daniel Drader lmao what a dumb statement
+MegaLuxury1 but it's true! Place to Bury Strangers would be so better if they were more like Exxtreme or Jackyl because... Well, they spell it with a "Y". So obviously bands like that are better.
Then just listen to another band, i mean come on. If its too much effects for you then just listen to something else.
+Onskestenen Right? I mean they build pedals. Lol this is Shoegaze music they are gonna use lots of color in the music. Effects are just a giant sonic palette really.
the rhythm section isn't happening
maybe it's just you, ever considered that? Most likely not...
