- this is one of the cheapest place to live in malta Birzebbuga. This is one of the cheapest areas but at the same time a really nice area to live in Malta. It has pretty much everything you need, starting from beach, shops, restaurants, bars... accommodation is very cheap as well compared to the central area of Malta. Birzebbuga is located on the South part of Malta, having pretty bay as a main beach it is perfect location for the beach lovers. Finding an apartment is very easy as the choice is very open and it is considered as one of the cheapest place to live in Malta for foreign people who come to work and live in Malta.

2:50 That is the Malta Freeport and not a shipyard Alex :) When the sea current is towards the beach it might get a bit dirty due to pollution from the ships, but when the sea current is towards the other way, pretty bay is one of the most beautiful beaches in Malta to swim at!

As I would like to be in the southeastern part of Malta, It seems there are very few options. I believe most of the sites promoted on Google are biased towards higher income earners. Where do "real people" who won't pay €2000 a month find real apartments?

Wow! I am so happy that you did a video in Birzebugia. My parents are Maltese living in Canada and we moved back to Malta in 1971. I was only 10 years old back then. I lived in Birzebugia on Noqra Lane near St George's Bay. When I was 16 years old I moved back to Canada and haven't been back to Malta since. It was so nice seeing the streets of Birzebugia again but wow has it changed! The ship dock was never there nor the park. Pretty Bay use to be so huge. I remember going dancing at the Seabreeze club and shopping at Rizzo grocery store. My parents returned to Canada shortly after I did but unlike me they returned several times to visit relatives. Thanks for the memories Alex!
The beach was so tiny in 1971... it was enlarged (sometime in the 90s) when the"freeport" was enlarged and all the sand they collected was dumped on the beach, making it one of the largest (if not the largest) sandy beach in Malta.

Nice of you to visit my homeland village. I grew up in Birzebbuga, went to Holland for a few years and guess what, came back to Birzebbuga. Missed it terribly. Pity it was raining when you visited. Hope to see you again on a lovely sunny day! Thx for the video! PS. You were very close to my house....could have dropped in for a drink 🙂 Although it was a great video, it could be richer by visiting first the local council to update you with more info where to see within the village. And that goes to all visitors as very informative within all villages in Malta. All willing to help.
Thanks for doing Birzebbuga Alex, that's where my grandparents lived and I often stayed with them there when I was a child. I now live in Melbourne Australia and my wife and I have been back to Malta twice and we always stay in Birzebbuga. Once again Grazzi Habib.

Wow! Birzie is my home town. It was great to see it, I haven't been back for years. Last time I was on holiday, one of my brothers knew the owner of a bar just opposite the beach, we had a few drinks and stayed talking and with him until the early hours of the morning. Brought back happy memories thank you Alex.

So, Alex "I WOULD LIKE you", when you find time, give us your opinion about St Paul's Bay, Xemxija, Burmarrad and surrounding area. I grew up in SPB and it would be my first choice if I returned to my beautiful island. I am aware "property prices" around SPB are medium > high. THANKS.

brize has changes a lot from the 70th i live there as a kid from 1970 to 72 i was 10 to 12 year old and my dad was in the R.A.F and their was no free port then just the r.a.f family club.

Many families from the South spends days at the beach there. Malta was so different till the 90's. Living in Malta till the 90's was lovely now its lost a lot of the character flair pity

Oh cool! papuc is in maltese for those home slippers, in my language (Macedonian) "papuci" we use for beach slippers as well :)
@@AlexinMalta Papocc in my home is for home-shoes or bed slippers. But in some areas of Malta, papocc is for trainers! papocc tal futbol. In my house, slippers is for trainers! and slipppers in English is for bed slippers. Go figure!

Thanks for the vid on Birzebbuga. My mum was born there and I went there for the 1st time as a 10 year old back in 1988. I went back in 2000 and remember going to bar cherries which were opposite Pretty Bay drinking to the early hours of the morning. My grandparents lived in the apartments above the hardware store on St. Catherine st.
