    When Karpova says "to the best of my ability" why didn't the lawyer say "do you have the ability to pick up a phone and call to verify the credentials your guests claim they have? do you know how to use a phone? is this an ability you possess?"

      I could be wrong but I think there is a genuine disinclination to be seen to be browbeating the witness in front of the jury.
      Her behavior is as obvious to the jury as it is to us. I think the plaintiffs attorneys know that.

    This witness should have been thrown in jail for contempt of court. She has perfect clarity on issues that benefit Jones but cannot comprehend a yes/no question when it exposes Jones.

      Actually, she's doing an outstanding job. She's extremely knowledgeable and is keeping the attorney reeling with desperation. The longer you can stay on the stand, the worse it looks for attorneys and this is only part of the day. Gotta love it.

    "I don't know" how this woman even dresses herself no less was a salaried employee. She doesn't know any answers to any questions asked by the prosecution until he points out her lies when compared to her prior testimony. Even though, she answers "appears so, seems to be, that's what it shows". Why was she not treated as a hostile witness? She certainly makes me feel hostile! And stop mumbling, for Christ's sake!! Doesn't she realize that just because she lies in a low tone, people will still know she's lying?

      At least on the second day she sound more lucid. I swear she sounded like she was drugs the first day. But to watch how she pauses it is more than obvious that she is struggling to find answers that covers their butt. She's not good at it.

      Treating a witness as "hostile" is for when the witness you called is being antagonistic, or opposing your legal stance. A witness can then be declared hostile, meaning you can ask him/her leading questions. Under cross-examination, the witness is already presumed to be hostile - hence the many leading questions from the plaintiff's lawyers.
      And oh wow, yes. She gave one of the most painful to witness testimonies I've ever seen. Every time she looked up at the ceiling before answering an absurdly straight forward question made me want to strangle a pillow.

      Consider that the lawsuit has been going on for 7 years with multiple defense lawyer (upwards of 5 I can't remember the exact number at the moment) with the defense being in contempt or the court in such a manor as to get a default judgment (it's very rare google it if your curious) yes she's annoyed with the defense because she's been dealing with it for so long.

    For those complaining about her, quite curious to hear if they responded the same about the Rittenhouse judge, Bruce "I object on behalf of the defense" Schroeder.

      The DA broke obvious rules in the Rittenhouse case, was kina surprised the Judge didn't call mistrial w/o prejudice, the DA introduced pre trial evidence that had been ruled inadmissable and broached 5th ammendment rights in one fell swoop, he could be disbarred for that 2nd alone, the Judge was actually lenient because he knew the evidence presented really wasn't damning anyway, but the faiilure to give a statement and pointing that out is totally wrong, we all have that right and I recommend we all use it innocent people have been sent to prison because they talked when they should have exercised that right JMO

      ​@@marjorie9390 The DA in the Rittenhouse case wasn't trying to get a guilty verdict and didn't want to see Rittenhouse go to jail, regardless; he pretended to (and did a fairly good job doing so), but it was also obvious his bite had no teeth by design, so the specifics you point out are fine. Schroeder's theatrics and obvious bias were the problems I was referring to - this judge isn't anywhere near as bad as he was, so I simply want to know if the complaints about her are from those who felt the same about Schroeder, too, or if they were perfectly fine with the way he behaved in court, but now have a problem with what's going on here.

      I don't view it as being condescending, it has more to do with being authoritative and assertive in her courtroom, due to the way the witness is making a mockery of it with her behavior and answers. In fact, I'd argue the judge has an obligation to do what she did here to maintain the respect and attention of the court and to put the witnesses on notice that their games and tactics are noticed.

      If you followed the entire case, you would understand. She was supposed to show up "Prepared" for multiple depositions and just showed up with Wikipedia pages. She never cooperated and thumbed her nose at the entire process. She deserves whatever comes her way. IE: Don't dish it out if you can't take it.
