I used to work at the karting circuit in Ben’s home city - Bristol. I was fortunate enough to meet him a handful of times and also Chris Harris. Harris doesn’t put on a persona for RUclips/TV, he really is a grumpy miserable old sod whereas Ben is a super nice, down to earth guy who is just happy to chat about anything automotive, what a guy!

When you see Ben from behind and above looking down at the car You suddenly see HIS view of the tiny wheels at the front and his head sticking up so high out of the cockpit. THEN you understand what a strange car this is. I remember seeing this car in pictures, or on TV, as a kid - thinking it was SO amazingly cool.

My parents bought me the RC Tyrrell in the 70's when i was a kid. I didn't know what F1 was at the time, so i didn't understand the 4 wheels in the front. but i loved that toy car. I played with it in the driveway for hours. great memories.

I was fascinated with that car as a 5 year old boy. I visited Andorra with my parents and they got me a 1/24 scale die cast with functional steering linkage. I wish I had been able to hold onto that.

I had a Tamiya model and being British I thought it was a corgi but I'm not sure. I still have most of my corgis. I grew up watching this car. this was the craziest f1 car I'd ever seen. my dad was the Ferrari guy. I had a pinewood derby car for boy scouts. I asked him to help. im 50 now and I have to finish it but he added sides and shaped it into a Ferrari 250 tr. real shaped cover leather seat 20 coat of hand rubbed lacquer , formed Formica dash and rel glass. I'd have loved to actually have used it , also the 1st kyoho vanning rc car with ops.25 engine still unbuilt 40 years later so I cherish evertime my Dad would watch races with me explain why the 6 wheels were ideal(he was an engineer for acctel(AT&T,W BELL in the states ) but just watching the stigma talk about it made so happy because I also thought of my dad.RIP. thank you Ben. your a class act for sure. cheers
