Thank you so much for this! I am one year w/ LC this month. After several weeks if not months of slow steady improvement without a set-back, I experienced a crash last Monday and another set back today. So here I am searching for info again. Your path, story and all are nearly identical to what I experienced, including the use of positive results from breath work, pacing and low-histamine diet. One of my specialists said just last week said I should look at chronic fatigue syndrome. I appreciate your clear explanation of the para-sympathetic nervous system at work, and have felt anxiety had a role as a trigger as you explained. Thank you again and all the best for your recovery. And yes - we will recover.

Glad to hear your making headway on your recovery. It’s very disheartening to have that crash after a period of bliss but the symptoms start becoming less and less frequent and limit and more mild. I think your probably at the beginning of actual recovery. Just remember that you are far from out of the woods, but progress fuels hope.

@@erikhodge2298 thank you Erik. Right after posting this note, I travelled from one side of the US to the other and was reinfected with Covid for the 3rd time (Jan). After a week of feeling wretched (and allowing myself to do so - not trying to do anything else but be sick - new for me), I was able to work remote again but that was nearly all. I paced myself back to pre-3rd infection status in about 6 weeks. Last week I travelled again to see our son across country, paced myself for the 3 hour time change, had what I would call a mini crash during, but continued to keep calm, trust in pacing and came out of it within a day during the trip. Two days ago I used a stationary bike at the gym while a read. Im feeling back firmly on the road to recovery. Being more aware of my para-sympathetic nervous system has helped me (I feel) to “guide it”/ intercept it back to calm in those moments of stress/ anxiety. Thank you again for your great content and hope you are seeing progress as well.

Hey Erik, i first saw your moderna vax video a while ago and recently on Raelyn's channel. I got COVID in the first wave in march 2020, recovered, and didn't start long haul symptoms until jan 2021. Like you mine were scary, went to ER, and was told im in perfect health. I found the moderna vax helped me start recovering as well and i'm not 100% a year later but definitely vastly improved. I still can't do too much or I'll crash but I found that gradual exercise helps and found a book called decode your fatigue by Alex Howard that was helpful to understand what was going on. I hope we continue to heal

Congratulations on your journey so far. You've done a great job!! I'm 2 months into LC and I have a lot of similarities to you, I guess the main one is the chest pain.. sometimes feels like maybe costocondritis but other times a random nerve firing either in the upper left abdomen just below ribs or below the nipple. At first I thought it was the heart but it might be the muscle or ribs perhaps? Or is it entirely in our heads at this point?! Is this something you can relate to?
I'm starting on Miguel's recovery program next month and I know you were a big fan of his. Maybe you could reach out to him as I'm sure he wants to do more recovery videos on his channel.

Just found your channel. Absolutely appreciate your posts. I got the vid June of 2021. Then omicron in January of this year and I feel like I am starring over again with the long haul symptoms. In December I was finally starting to feel better than Got sick at the beginning of January. Still have horrible fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, brain fog, back/shoulder pain.
You are an inspiration that we will heal. It will just take time.
Mindset and breathing have helped with my anxiety immensely along with yoga. Look into it. Its challenging because you use your own body weight. People dont think you get a good workout and they are wrong. It's not heart pumping. Its strength, balance, flexibility, mindset. I dont do crazy power yoga. Yoga with Adriene ilis a great RUclips channel. I scroll through her videos and look for yoga like for stress, relaxation, etc.

Hey Erik - month 14 myself now and near identical process that I have been through on my end. Mostly just fatigue now (after long bout of shortness of breath and chest tightness etc) if I'm 'on' too long or too long on my feet. Pacing and doing meditation/breathing exercises after lunch and/or in the evening are a big help for me and I have been able to do some slow work with weights and stretching at home at my own pace (on and off!) about once a week (I did used to run once per week and not done that since Jan 2021 though similar to yourself by the sounds of it). Hope that you have been able to do a little bit of gentle exercise when you feel in the zone for it - I don't really consider it graded exercise therapy as opposed to just doing a little bit when I feel up to it - as you say GET a bit of a thorny topic in the LC/ME/CFS community 😆. Just to add - I have also found cold showers in the morning surprisingly helpful (5 mins hot first not that brave just yet! 😂) to get me going and give my system a little boost and endorphin rush for my mood etc. Overall big thanks for taking the time to do these videos and your interview with Raelan - really helps to feel less isolated and know that others are on the same/similar path. Had a crash at 12 months which was a bit demoralising but about 6/10 again now (slowly working back up to full time at work again if I can all going well next few weeks after doing 50% for a month or so) and hoping to make a slow steady improvement - seem to bounce back a little faster at this point which is a positive I must remember! Take care on your end and fingers crossed for next few months :)

My profile is much like yours and I'm currently on month 11 of long haul. My chest symptoms are so similar and I'm wondering; how much did the prednisone help? Hi D J! I had prednisone fairly early on. Mostly in my fist 6-7 months. It did help. As I reached closer to a year my inflammation went down. Nowadays any chest pain is really just chronic pain that I can control for the most part. Only you know your body. You know it better than your doc. If you think it’s inflammation it may be worth while but those are just my thoughts. I can’t recommend anything. Good news is things do seem to get better as more time passes.
