Caltrain 920 is the first Caltrain diesel engine up for sale. Hopefully the California State Railroad Museum will save 920. Imagine this engine running with Amtrak 281

8:30 oh hey I made that one! Glad to see it’s gotten so much positive attention and people find it funny, also thank you for keeping the little tag name in the bottom right corner!!
Interesting news. Caltrain F40PHs are gonna be for sale. Its not long before Caltrain F40PHs suddenly get preserved even though they have their prime mover disabled due to CARB's insane Tier 4 emission standards. Caltrain F40PHs for sale is my favorite story
As usual, I found this quite an informative video! Now, I know about the Arcade and Attica Railroad, the Whitewater Valley railroad, the Train Mountain Railroad, and the proposed Midwest Connect passenger train (I never heard of any of them), as well as that dinky inspection vehicle. Also, I'm glad to see Caltrain electrified, and I hope the old diesels get a new home. Thanks for the video!

Also, I'm surprised you never mentioned the fact that Brightline employees could be unionizing soon, since you like to cover Brightline stories.
You're right, Brightline workers are considering unionizing, but Brightline themselves are discouraging it as I believe they've obtained lawyers to discourage unionizing, which I personally feel is a bit shocking coming from Brightline as Brightline West publicly made deals with local unions in Nevada to help construct their new high speed line. Maybe it has to do with two types of unions (operation vs construction).
cn x most northern outpost on the far south westen shore of grate slave .,lake is about as far north as price william sound where the exon valdez sunk decades ago. price wuilliams sound is just south of the bay on which ancorage is.
With the Caltrain EMUs, I think the focus should've mainly been increasing frequencies rather than electrification. Electrification is good, sure, and electric is better than diesel, but diesel trains are better than no trains at all, and for many services, higher frequencies = higher ridership. I'm beginning to wonder if the decline of American passenger rail was less the rise of affordable cars and more that the frequencies of passenger trains was just TRASH. I mean... One train per day just seems like a joke, and even one train per hour isn't ideal. Sure, the Amtrak Auto Train is popular, but it's only able to get away with this because people get to take their cars with them and it's an overnight service. For the CA HSR grade crossings.... Yeah, that seems like a disaster waiting to happen. Also, Air Canada's bid for HFR seems sus. To me, that's like the equivalent of Coca-Cola owning Pepsico, FedEx owning Norfolk Southern, or McDonald's owning Burger King. That's just so weird to think about...
You do understand that electrification allows for faster running times due to better acceleration, meaning trains clear blocks quicker, meaning there is more capacity on the line, meaning you can increase frequencies, right?
@@bahnspotterEU That doesn't mean you can't have high frequencies without electric trains. On Metra's BNSF Line, using just diesel locomotives, they're able to provide one train every 30 minutes during rush hour. The Butetown branch line in the UK only has Class 150 and 153 DMUs on the line. Service frequency? One train every 12 minutes. The Stourbridge Branch line in the UK uses Class 139s fitted with flywheels. Frequency? One train every 10 minutes. Back in 1946, the CB&Q ran two trains, the Advanced Flyer and Exposition Flyer, both hauled by EMD E-units, close together. How far apart? About 5 minutes. Back in 1889, on the Great Northern Railway of Ireland, during a time where steam locomotives were still king since electric traction was still in its infancy and diesel traction was like science-fiction, they had a service frequency of 20 minutes, better than many modern transit systems using modern diesel and electric power. So, while electric trains make increasing frequencies easier, it's by no means impossible to increase train frequencies using diesel or even antique steam power.
There's bound to be problems down the road for CN & CPKC as the government intervened and pretty much said "go back to work" and basically motioned it in a way that was unconstitutional.
Honestly the Caltrain BEMU kinda sounds like a not good idea since if they what to use electric trains to Gilroy, Salinas and Monterey extension I would say they should buy the stadler eurodual 9000 or eurolight since they on both electric and diesel fuel to pull the bombardier bi level cars an it’s much better an cheaper then just getting a battery powered train.
My personal idea of what they should do, is to attempt to strike up a deal with EXO and Montreal. EXO has quit a few Bombardier ALP-45 duel power locomotives. EXO gave away their only electric line and these trains only run on diesel power. I bet Caltrain could probably strike a deal for a few ALP-45s, and use them on trains with the bi-levels.

Chick-Fil-A’s streaming service is the greatest railroad news I have heard in a long time
Does it feel good that us younglings can cook up better information and not cut corners to find full stories unlike mega corporations!
Correction: Caltrain runs Stadler KISS, not FLIRT train sets.

Bidding on either the Canada strike or Caltrain electrification being top story.
