I'm not normally someone who comments- you mentioned at the start 'companies need to stop using brexit and COVID as an excuse for poor delivery' I think as Consumers its maybe worth understanding some of the complexity facing not only retailers but most organisations. For example suddenly having staff needing to isolate given contact with someone who has tested positive, needing to deep clean the workplace after positive cases... All of which massively impacts logistics, capacity for order fulfillment and operations. Also needing to adapt to world's shipping changes and costs have escalated due to exponential built up demand and limited supply. Also responding to changing legislation...Lots of factors and change at play as the world finds its feet in the new normal. Beautiful vlog as always! Take care

My thoughts exactly. Always watch till the end! And a handy tip, try adding some chicken stock powder to fried rice 🍚 makes it taste as good as a takeaway!

You are "blanching" your broad beans.😊 Maybe this will help describe why you boil before freezing. Your garden is amazing...you've done great for your first time. I garden in the Sonoran desert and our carrots grow just like yours due to the very hard ground. Yummy still though.😋

Blanching (scalding vegetables in boiling water or steam for a short time) is a must for almost all vegetables to be frozen. It stops enzyme actions which can cause loss of flavor, color and texture.
Blanching cleanses the surface of dirt and organisms, brightens the color and helps retard loss of vitamins. It also wilts or softens vegetables and makes them easier to pack.
Blanching time is crucial and varies with the vegetable and size. Underblanching stimulates the activity of enzymes and is worse than no blanching. Overblanching causes loss of flavor, color, vitamins and minerals.
Absolutely 💯. My grandma and grandpa had a garden and I loved helping them everyday. My grandma taught me everything. My family loves it when I start caning soups and stews for winter. I always make sure to make plenty. Right now we are enjoy my fruits and lettuce. We live off salads during the summer. Just add a meat sometimes.

Josie, I wonder if you and Charlie would ever get a few chickens? It would suit you so well! You can rescue chickens which will happily still lay lots of eggs, but they’re not wanted by farms anymore x

We went to the Lavender fields last week when we were in The Cotswolds and they are beautiful. The pans look amazing - very tempted to get one but hard to choose which colour! Rice 🍚

I freeze my excess spinach and throw it in my smoothies, soups, curries etc! Last forever in the freeze. I place the leaves (whole or cut up) in plastic bags or freezer containers or ice cube trays and it freezes beautifully 🌿🌿🌿

Hey Josie - love the vlog today! Just one thing about your comment on blaming Covid etc. for delays. From working at an Equestrian retail brand we are still majorly dealing with the effects of Covid, with it being delays to stock or courier services being short staffed due to isolations. Can’t wait for things to get back to ‘normal’ once again! x
Unfortunately IMHO we will never see the days of years gone by until the world 🌎 gains natural immunity to all of covid-19 variations . I have seen people 100% immunized and catch covid-19 or the stronger variant. It is a different world 🌎 that we live in now!

If you look up reviews for the Always Pan from people who have had it for a year. The pan does stain quite easily and you are not suppose to cook on high heat. Therefore it might not be great for a vication rental.

The reason you boil produce before freezing is to de-nature enzymes (de-activate) that would normally cause the produce to develop towards maturity, resulting in non-tasty things like bitterness, increased starch content, toughness. Regarding the twisted roots of your carrots: did you transplant your carrots? This can be done successfully, but usually fails. Direct sowing of carrots using seedtape (can make your own at home) works really well to prevent twisty roots.
Would love to see a side by side comparison with corded versus battery on the Dyson irons.

ALL that spinach could be used at once cooked with chicken, creamed spinach or with paneer. It would go wonderful with your fav garlic naan.Lettuce and carrots give me ideas of healthy coleslaw and chives for boiled potatoe salas with mayo and chives.

Hi Josie, the boiling of the veg is called blanching, it’s done so green vegetables retain their bright colour, but not 100% necessary, they would be less bright in colour.

London looks lovely and I’m so jealous of all your massages I soooo need them. My doctor said we may be able to get them for medical reasons monthly and I really need to work on that. Love the Murad skincare line it’s the only thing that helped my hormonal acne when I went through my divorce. Now I’m off the pill and getting acne again so I’ve started to use it again because I know it works. I also started some Sunday Riley glycolic acid treatment and loving the results of that as well. The foundation you used looks beautiful!! Garden is looking great. I need to start some more squash plants I have two left producing and bugs got my others.

I looked up the Always pan at £140 people’s reviews state the non stick comes off after 6 months making it pointless

Rice. Hi Josie. I just bought the Audi Quattro e-tron and absolutely love it. I had the same problem with the car not slowing down when you took your foot off the accelerator. My hubby called our Sales Assistant and he told us how to over ride that - it’s just a setting. You can also use the paddle which is situated on the steering wheel. We have had the super charger installed and it makes a huge difference. I was concerned at first about having electric but. love it now. We got the larger vehicle as I like to be higher up when it snows in winter. Good luck with your decision.
