yes 900 MHZ is a hard band. so much blocks it. and you are dealing with very low power. UHF antennas are different for making near buy metal effects them more . . Even moisture in wood can affect 900 MHZ. I did hear your contact on 10 meters to England. Lord callum is a great contact on 10 meters ! Just keep looking I am shure 900 MHZ antenna designs are around. 73

Using a yagi with Meshtastic is great if earth is being a brat and you need to spank its curvature even harder.
