I am so proud of you Hobbitses with all the soft/creamy/easy foods🥯 off trail and the terrible sneaky deconditioning🍹 that you need to account for now. It isn't fair and it isn't nice but you will adjust and prevail. You know how to take care of your bodies as well as your spirits 😃

It’s impressive how Susie maintained muscle mass by the end of the thru hike (as illustrated in Bobby’s painting). Someone put a sign up coming into Donner Pass-“those are some good lookin hiker legs”. I always end up really skinny after.

My brother and his wife and kids are in Maryville outside of Knoxville and my cousin is in Greenville, SC not far from Asheville, NC. All are ok; glad to see y’all are too!

I've yet to see a demo elsewhere of watercoloring your eyes lol! I lived in Knoxville for six years so started watching Helene forecasts early on. The videos coming out for the Appalachian communities affected are absolutely heartbreaking. So much of the Blue Ridge area I used to visit is just ... gone and what's left has a long, long road to recovery. I'm glad you were spared; I thought for awhile that Chattanooga and Knoxville were going to take more of a hit.

Bobbie always impressed that you painted on trail and you both kept them intact through your journeys (shout out UPS too?) so love the eye makeup opening, since you are obviously had to be very neat then. Hope you end up recording a narration of your book as well.

I am also glad you are safe from the storm. I am enjoying your post trail videos. It’s hard when we get attached to thru hikers and then the videos just stop. We love knowing and watching what post trail is like. Thank you for sharing. I am hoping you will do the AT next, but wondering what that will even look like for 2025. Since you live closer, please keep us updated on the Appalachia area and post Helene news.

Yes, as someone who watches thru hikers every year, every day for most of 6 months, it’s a lost feeling when it all just ends 😳. Way better than what’s on t.v.

It is our plan to put the book on Kindle after it is published and released. It will be a bit but we will definitely announce it when we do.
The water in Western NC and Eastern TN is now considered Hazmat. I'm so glad you didn't come home to this. Here in Asheville, I've been inspired by all your miles on trail without the camp stove and finding good water sources. I just have to wait in long lines, not hike 10 miles! Perspective. . .
