I'm a Jamaican, living in Jamaica 🇯🇲. I can see Alexi had a wonderful holiday. One day I'm going to want you guys to spec out, and Alexi build a yacht ⛵ for me.
Congrats, my brother always says. however big your boat is, it isn't big enough. Glad it "grew" on its own. Just one more reason that Alexie is the greatest...Lucky you guys...
Yacht sizing is confusing because when looking for docking the length is crucial. But, isn’t your master’s (captain’s) license rating on gross tonnage? But, as this video shows it is interior volume that is the usable measurement. Great video guys.🙏🇨🇦👍
Yes, deck licenses are by type (steam/motor, sail, whatever), size (gross tonnage), and route (inland, lakes/bays/sounds, great lakes, near coastal, oceans ... oceans includes all lesser). There is an additional endorsement for "towing vessels". So a mariner can hold two master's licenses, for example: "master, agt*, oceans" and "master, towing vessels". * "any gross tons", ie; unlimited. Then there's a whole salad bowl of lesser licenses, too variegated for concise description.
Alexi is such an intelligent, friendly and humble person. I like him really much. And the explanation of the ship model names is understandable. So congratulations now you build a B82, hopefully it will not cost more :) What a journey to build such a boat. im a bit jealous to you but in fact i like your content and am really exited to see that boat if it is ready. Im sure you will give us a walk around. The Bering Boats are really amazing. Its a very good handwork. Wish you good times so fare.
@@NautiGuys for sure you do and i think he also 💙 you. BTW on Bering site your boat is called B82 right now. I have watched your layout and it is really nice, specially your owner cabin behind the pilot house is well thought through. As well as the furniture and the galley. Congrats you did very well to choose it so as you done.
Excellent Review Once Again Victoria, Rico and Alexie, Great to hear this News and Always wonderful to see and hear Alexie's explanation.. Huge Congrats again guys 👏🏽👏🏽
Love you guys videos. Here is a small issue that may need to be addressed with customers. When looking to dock your boat or go in for a haul out or other services that most marinas are going to charge you BY THE FOOT.....what do you tell the yard? If any boat feels larger than its stated LOA according to the builder and customer why would the number at the end of your boat make a difference. If I could by a boat (money no object) I would wait for the Silent Yacht 120 (hope they figure things out over there), but its beam can make it feel like a 165' monohull. I would feel suspect renaming it a Silent 165. I would like to know your thoughts on this.....
Great explanation of Bering sizing. Beautiful new Bering office. My "OCD" is pinging though🤔. The beautiful 3 part portrait on the wall needs to be adjusted. 3rd panel is throwing off the lines of the Bering yacht. Needs to be moved up. Ok, got that off my mind now back to the video😁.
Forgive me, but the intro to the episode was hilarious! Loved the looks on your faces! Then to hear Alexei explain the "why" of it was fascinating. The volume has always looked absolutely massive to me. My wife and I have a "lottery dream" of a B88. It just looks SO COMFORTABLE! As always, love your videos and the wealth of information you share. 💕
I love the new Office (Showroom, consultation area, customer planning space) it's a great idea. I have seen something similar in the Bespoke luxury car market. I think you should look into the virtual 3D tours of possible designs, because all the data sets already exist in CAD to do it. One question on your own yacht. Will this have any impact on the areas you can get into or the qualifications requited to operate it?
Helloooo Victoria and Rico! What a great day to wake up to you 3 catz! Now down to " tacks", Her LoA is ???...75, no?. I understand " gimmicks" ( not said in a derogatory way) BUT we live in the real world... LoA, air draft, draft, beam. What is your boat? ( proper lil ship ❤)
Ice seeing the build come together. I just have one question, after Alexi told you guys it wasn’t a 75 anymore, did Rico call the sound guys and say he needed more speaker and amps?
Why not use the volume measure in the model name instead of the length. Then tell prospective customers to ask competitors they are considering what the GT is of their boat for comparison.
I found value in the GT discussion and the description of the size of your home on the water. Can you also explain Net Tonnage (NT) in some common sense way?
Maybe the answer is to refer to the boat models by gross tonnage class instead of by length. It would make it feel more like a super yacht to buyers and maybe other manufacturers of smaller boats would follow suit or at least provide the information.
OK, I have been confused since the beginning? What is the length of this boat?? 75? 82? Meters... feet??? 😐😐 OK, gross tonnage, volume, all very cool for Bering but length and beam mean something. For docking purposes are marinas going to ask for gross tonnage or length and beam? What if I just want to know at any point in time how long my boat is?
Marina is going to ask what is your LOA and then the beam. They charge based on that because that is the space that the Yacht will take up in the marina. It is needed because they need to know if you will fit next to that other yacht.
Well Alexi gives great explanation. Just remind everyone on Deadliest Catch all of those boats are based on gross tonnage too. How much it can carry. His boats will reflect the industry he came from. Also GT is an international standard of measurement in boats not LOA. Great job Alexi
The perfect cure to 7ftitus! Seriously such a more realistic description of what you are building. What a great explanation from Alexi, as always. He takes the complicated tech speak and translates it into language us mere mortals can understand. Love that man 👍🤩
Great explanation! Much as we'd like to suggest naming it Nauti 82 (especially since 82 is so "woven into" Victoria's life. But, we're going to stick w/NautiTime as the best and most descriptive name for your Bering 82 liveaboard and charter yacht. We really enjoy following both your channels. Great reviews on NautiStyles and exciting to follow the progress of your Bering on NautiGuys. You guys are providing such a wonderful roadmap and blueprint for choosing a yacht builder, selecting a model, designing and outfitting it down to the smallest, yet vital details. Bravo!!! Clearly you 2 are having a NautiTime while providing a phenomenal service to the yachting community. Every new video on your 2 channels is like a party invitation...and you always make us want to stay until last call!
The beam and mass of this boat is more of a 90 to 100 footer. Marinas charge slip fees according to length. They cant on this B75. When requesting dockage, they will have to request it according to a 90 to 100 foot yacht. Just saying.
congratulations Alexei for the new Bering Florida Office.... luv the B120 background on the wall... I think the B120 is my favorite Bering so far... 🥰😍🤩
I would love to have a Bering yacht. I think it should be just like the layout and woodworking and interior of the other 88 ft fiberglass boat that you showed in your other video called, No Regret. I fell in love with that video and that is on my top three my favorite boats. Yes, a Bering boat is number one. Thank you for sharing these videos you two please stay safe.
Is it actually possible to create an assymetrical main deck on some of the Berings? Did you consider it or is it technically not a good idea? On the 88 it looks quite doable to me. No stairs leading up on the starboard side.
when he first said that you no longer have a 75 I honestly thought that they must have done something and broke your boat lol I felt bad for you for having to wait long and now will have to wait even longer; i was so relieved to hear it was just a rename ;-)
I am attempting to understand this as I am just learning about these ships. Was the model designation changed from Bering 75 to Bering 82 to reflect her greater internal volume (GT) in comparison to similar sized yachts? In other words, is her internal volume closer to an 82' vessel rather than a 75' vessel so the designation was changed to reflect that? Maybe I'm overthinking this. Beautiful yacht, by the way. I'm sure she will give you and your guests many thousands of kms of cruising pleasure. I think "Mighty Servant" would be a good name, although I know several Heavy Lift ships have used that name. Solid channel.
Bering is a high profile leader in yacht building because of the wisdom and multidisciplinary expertise that Alexei and his amazing team possess. Industry Standards are tested by their cutting edge technological designs. Bless you guys!!!
I would like to know if Bering has models of their boats, because i would like to possibly purchase a exact model of your (former 75) 82. That way i can at least say i have a Bering.😅
Haven't most manufacturers gone by length at waterline and not loa? I know they use to anyways. A 40ft would actually be 44ish more or less depending on the build
Well the pure purpose of the overall length name is that you come into the harbor and the harbor master sees: oh, its and 82, so it pays for 82 feet. So calling a ship with 75 overall length a 82 doesnt seem logical. Also the length shows how much material is needed and with which it is compared price wise. So a 82 can have the same price as other 82s, and will be more expensive than a ship called 75. i sure understand why the builder wants to call it bigger, making it a better price per length, as its no longer the length. So basically smart marketing to justify a higher price.
So if Length Overall isn't 82' and the boat is registered as an 82 footer then how will you address Marina Fees, Canal Passages, and any other scenario where length determines the cost?
It was a Bering 75, now is a Bering 82....but that doesn't say Bering 75 feet or 82 feet. Model numbers are not a spec sheet no matter what customary practices might be
I keep calling the bank asking them when I can have Bearing build my boat so far they don’t have an answer 😂 but one day they will! Love your videos and Bearing has become my favorite.
That's like getting a promotion for free. Interesting that you say it feels like a 90 inside. What does that do to your insurance, if anything? I imagine insurance is just based on replacement cost, length notwithstanding. Can't wait for the engine video. We're getting closer!!
Name for your boat. VICTORIA Meaning & History Means "Victory" in Latin, being borne by the Roman goddess of victory. It is also a feminine form of Victorius. This name was borne by a 4th-century saint and martyr from North Africa. One word, internationally recognizable and appropriate considering I believe Victoria is a Goddess.
May I ask what is the red clay looking composition that is put over the steel of the hull to give the steel hull a fiberglass smooth look? I had no idea. Does it ever crack due to flexing? What is long term maintenance like? Thank you!
I can answer this one... That is called "fairing compound". Here is the exact definition of what it is used for from our friends at Fibreglast - "Fairing and filling compounds are designed to repair and shape finished composite parts while retaining as much of the original piece strength as possible. The versatile compounds can be used for filling, adhering, building, shaping and finishing composites and other materials." So...yes, it is body filler for boats used to make the surfaces of a steel yacht smooth like a fiberglass vessel would be. AFAIK the only big issues that might come up with fairing is if there is a big impact with something heavy and hard. I believe that Aleksi said in the episode about "rusty boats" that the failring process, labor and materials, would cost upwards of $1 point something million.
Thank you very, very much for taking the time to explain! I never really gave it much thought. There’s not much in the way of RUclips…only with smaller boats. I appreciate it, Bill.
Great boat. Great design. Sorry, not willing to change math. Loa is loa. Beam is beam. Since when did feelings change these facts? Yes, it feels bigger, yes it's a large 75' yacht. But it is not an 82 if the loa is 78. At best it is 78. Alexi, so does that make a 60' cat now a 100', since it feels bigger? just the facts please.... lol
@carlwest859 The international size is the LOD from ships up to 24m and above it the LWL and 98% of it. Its absolute standart that builders say the LOA. For buyers in that range is important 1. the LOD
So now its bigger....did the name get bigger😂😂😂 Alexi as a boat builder that sets the bar high🎉 And the people buying these boats, are not rubes, and understand the 3 axis of size and volumes. If your plunking down the large money.. you did your research. Its not going to a boat store, and leaving same day with pleasure boat Great explanation Victoria is dressed to the nines with stripes 🎉🎉🎉
I keep thinking how to spec one of these so I can afford to live on it. I need fiberglass price… that’s prolly a lifeboat in explorer world. But I’m hooked!
Totally understand the explanation for bigger. But the real test of size is what the boatyard says when it's hauled out - 75, 82, 90. Bigger is more $$$$$ for the yard. Sounds more like a 90, MAYBE.
This new 3-D measurement standard is very exciting. I just checked my waistline & I'm proud to announce that I am declaring for the NBA draft this year.
Forgot to ask guys. Will you change the name to fit the new range. I love how you said 82 is universe talking as a lucky number in your life V. Maybe a name that encapsulates the 82 and universal destiny. How about: NB82 Destiny 82 BiggaStyles Rico can fit more dj gear & secret nap spots lol. :-) x
@@NautiGuys Eigentlich war die Frage retorisch und Sie haben sie trotzdem beantwortet. На самом деле вопрос был риторический и вы все равно на него ответили.
The Bering Yachts have some of the best packaging and spacial designs of any explorer yacht manufacturer. If I ever have the money to afford an explorer yacht, Bering will be my only option. Very impressed with their builds.
Knowing nothing/very little about ships, I thought the GT was the weight of the water it displaced @ 8.3 #/g. I don't know exact numbers, but 82 foot, 24' beam, 12' deep X 8.33 = 196,721. Or ~98T ?? 8)
One question, would it be possible to build a 100% electric Bering ship? One using solar and batteries along with an emergency generator that uses fuel to back up the batteries if bad weather lasts too long wherever you are. I'm not really sure why my mind wants to know this or why my mind is so focused on being self sustained with power and water, but something inside me, is telling me that it will become important long before my time is up so to speak. But I really hope I'm wrong. Which is also why I am wondering if a nice design like the Bering ship could be altered to be a fully electric ship?
Could you run this as a couple or do you need crew? Also with this being sub 24M do you need a special license other than a boater license if you are not carrying paying customers?
"Just add water and it grows by 7 feet." Not really but this Marvelous explanation was needed to describe the real size of your ship.
They haven't added the water yet.
Actually we get “Two-Footitis” and that’s why boat owners keep buying bigger boats…😂
Thats right just has water ship grow

Well the pure purpose of the overall length name is that you come into the harbor and the harbor master sees: oh, its and 82, so it pays for 82 feet. So calling a ship with 75 overall length a 82 doesnt seem logical. Also the length shows how much material is needed and with which it is compared price wise.
So a 82 can have the same price as other 82s, and will be more expensive than a ship called 75. i sure understand why the builder wants to call it bigger, making it a better price per length, as its no longer the length. So basically smart marketing to justify a higher price.

Aww, totally makes sense.
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Well that makes sense that the boat should be measured by living space
I keep thinking how to spec one of these so I can afford to live on it. I need fiberglass price… that’s prolly a lifeboat in explorer world. But I’m hooked!
Nice work
Thanks for hanging with us Bob!
Well size does matter ☺ interesting update 2x👍
Yes it does! 😝🤷♀️🤪
As long as it stays below 24m you can give it any marketing name you like
🤷♀️
Totally understand the explanation for bigger. But the real test of size is what the boatyard says when it's hauled out - 75, 82, 90. Bigger is more $$$$$ for the yard. Sounds more like a 90, MAYBE.
WOWZA thats fantabulous ❤❤❤
Thanks for sharing!!
Congratulations guys. 👍🌏🐬
Thank you!! 🙏🏻💙⚓️
Nice. I am happy for you two.
Thank you so much 😀
This new 3-D measurement standard is very exciting. I just checked my waistline & I'm proud to announce that I am declaring for the NBA draft this year.
🤣🤣🤣
An amazing vision
Glad you liked it!
@@NautiGuys you know me. I love your style and innovative thinking. X
🙏🏻💙⚓️
Forgot to ask guys.
Will you change the name to fit the new range. I love how you said 82 is universe talking as a lucky number in your life V.
Maybe a name that encapsulates the 82 and universal destiny.
How about:
NB82
Destiny 82
BiggaStyles
Rico can fit more dj gear & secret nap spots lol.
:-) x
Will there be any negative effect on insurance, docking, docking fees etc. now that its an 82 instead of a 75?
No .. those are still based on actual LOA and gross tonnage specs not the model name
So now that you are running the Florida office, how are your charters going to work? It's beginning to look like too many candles are being lit.
Don't you worry about that, we got it covered 😏
@@NautiGuys Eigentlich war die Frage retorisch und Sie haben sie trotzdem beantwortet.
На самом деле вопрос был риторический и вы все равно на него ответили.
Love the boat. Superb quality
Us too!
The Bering Yachts have some of the best packaging and spacial designs of any explorer yacht manufacturer. If I ever have the money to afford an explorer yacht, Bering will be my only option. Very impressed with their builds.
Thanks for sharing!!
They always look massive out of the water.
Dockage or slip fees are often based on LOA. I think your operating costs are going up with 75 vs 82. Even though its the same actual length.
They are not changing, since LOA is still the same 78’
Knowing nothing/very little about ships, I thought the GT was the weight of the water it displaced @ 8.3 #/g. I don't know exact numbers, but 82 foot, 24' beam, 12' deep X 8.33 = 196,721. Or ~98T ?? 8)
Ready to sail!
Getting there!
Ich habe das nicht verstanden. Bekommt ihr nun ein größeres Schiff mit 88 feet zum Preis von einem 76 feet Schiff?
Could you run this as a couple or do you need crew? Also with this being sub 24M do you need a special license other than a boater license if you are not carrying paying customers?
im the same way with number 13
Now @Rico you have to elaborate on that model at the end in the glass cube... That looks like something amazing in the works there...
Thats a model of the Bering 60 Cat!! Check out our video on @NautiStyles all about it!
IS It An 82 or 85 ?
“It’s so big.” Yeah, I am told that all the time.
Isn't that what all the guys with just 4 inches say? Haha, just kidding.
Boats always look bigger out of the water.
This is why we joke that they shrink when they go in the water.
Congrats guys.
Long live Bering.
