Won't bare wood soak up the vinegar and make it smell like a salad for a time? Also since Vinegar is an acid how would it effect certain finishes? could it make some clear coats look cloudy after repeated cleanings? Or is this just what you use on the really nasty guitars? BTW not tryin to rip on your video. These are serious questions I am sure others may have as well.
The meths helps it evaporate super quick so it doesn't absorb and smell - I've been using it on bare wood for years and not had a problem, although maybe if you put loads on... really it's for cleaning grime off, and for in-between wet sands. I was taught this by a professional French polisher who actually uses acetic acid but says distilled vinegar is just as good. I find the jar I use smells but not the wood after. I only use it on clear coats before buffing or if they are really dirty but I don't think it's anywhere near strong enough to eat into a good finish and leave it cloudy. If in doubt always check in an area that isn't visible (under a scratch plate for example).
I live in south Louisiana, where “meth” means something entirely different; what, exactly, is the purple fluid?
Ha, yeah! I have discovered since making this video that it's only the UK that call ot methylated spirits. In the US it's called denatured alcohol
It's not purple in the states.
