Ronnie was just an average joe onstage and by that I mean he wasn’t flashy, showy or a one man show. Just a simple man onstage. He let each member get their turn in the spotlight and that’s something I admire in Ronnie. He didn’t come across as him being the one who had to have all the attention on him.
Ronnies charisma is so unbelievable, so he did`t need any "dancing" on stage. Every word he singing is meaning. You cant see than kind of frontman anymore. Sad but true.
All the guys would say it was Ronnie's band and he drive those guys like Gunny Hartman in 'Full Metal Jacket'. The rehearsals at 'Hell House' are legendary. All the work paid off with a body of recorded material of high quality and timeless appeal. While it was Ronnie's band, he knew he had some major artillery and he fired those cannons to great effect. Simply put, he knew he had a band that could blow the sh!t out of anyone and he liked showing them off.
Every time I see a video of them, I car help but think about “that day”… I loved these guys when I was a kid, and still do. Probably always will… RIP Ronnie and band.
It us my personal opinion that Ed was the most well rounded picker Skynyrd ever had. I LOVE Allen but Ed was a melody machine. I saw the Tribute Tour in New Orleans in '88. I had already seen the Winterland tape - my friend had a good bootleg of it but I left the concert astounded by how well Ed still played. Okay, now let's break out the 'Incense and Peppermints'. Where's my fuzz pedal?
I think Gaines and King were equally fantastic guitarists and both fit Skynyrd like a glove...a result of a GREAT band...though Gaines did have that extra vocal talent.
I SOOOO MISS THEM . HANDS DOW THE BEST LIVE ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME . GO FIND THE 76 KNEBWORTH FESTAVEL FOOTAGE. THE BEST HOUR N 10 MIN RECHOURDING OF THEM / W STEVE GAINS ( T FOR TEXAS ) NEVER GETS OLD .. NEVER ❤️😄
This would not have been possible with Bob ! Also killer chops on the song "Trust" . Artimus is still walking the Earth in 2023 after even Gary is gone . He really got a raw deal .
Absolutely . Artimus also ,like Ed just brought LS into the stratosphere. He improved the old songs so muchlive and listen to his technical prowess on this song & songs like "Trust" . Nuts !!
The thing is that: as you discover live versione or you get to know better the album, you just start to wonder how you called yourself a skynyrd fan so far 😅 they are the gretest band of all time
Lynyrd Skynyrd. America's Greatest Rock'n'Roll Band. I love Aerosmith, their a strong #2 but Skynyrd... In terms of talented guitarists that have passed through, Skynyrd stands up there with the Yardbirds & Thin Lizzy.
RS: Absolutely. I was glad to see the original group reform - I'd seen The Joe Perry Project in 1982 and I thought he could do better, but... When they brought in professional tunesmiths to help with the songwriting, 'Permanent Vacation', they lost an edginess that made them so awesome in the 70's.
it's good to see these "deep cuts" Skynyrd songs performed live...there's so much more good Skynyrd stuff than "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird"... hey, I loved Freebird too, the first 10,000,000 times I heard it! But there's ALOT more gold where that came from.!!!
I like Free Bird and Sweet Home Alabama. But there are a number of their songs I like better at this point. Probably my favorite is their cover of T for Texas from the Knebworth concert, where they upstaged the Stones and every other band who showed up.
Love how everything they play live sounds just like the studio versions. Ronnie was a stickler for no deviations from the originals and it showed, unless it was one of their live cover versions like T for Texas then there was some variation but it always sounded good.
Ed King, not only write the music, (guitar work), but play it over and over as smooth as he did over the years. its really something. i love it all. you tube makes life great.
Thank You! I was scrolling thru the comments trying to find out who was playing harp! At first I thought it was Ed King with a neck holder but realized it was a cigarette hanging from his mouth.
Love Skynyrd and this album and especially the "Railroad Song" Love the Carter Sisters and Mother Maybelle as well ! My 2 favorite bands ! All American !
This song soo much better than credited !!! Also , one of the last shows Ed King played with the band. He would be gone like a week later !!!!! Him & Ronnie whipped this up together . Ed used a Capo to make it a G . You can fake it with standaerd tuning ,but pain in nuts !!! Alan was doing it to do the train whistle solo . They don't even show Gary at al here .
Skynyrd was and has always been a class act! saw them 15-20 times from 1976-2012, always a great show! only complaint is that last 10-15 yrs wished they would play more 'deep cuts' in concert, love the old standards, but like one guy said, after hearing 3 steps, sweet home, freebird, etc, with some great albums made after 91', only heard a few songs live and loved the album 'Brother to Brother'!, would love to hear some of that live! their still great, no matter what!
Great song. Great version of this great song. I never understood the disappointment that some in the Skynyrd camp had in Nuthin Fancy. It's a totally strong album from start to finish. And Cheatin Woman is a total barn burner. I love this album. Live Railroad Song is so beautiful. Just try to get this tune out of your head. See? You can't.
I picked up Nuthin on CD for my truck a few days ago. Keep in mind ive delved into Skynyrd albums before and Whiskey rock a rolla is my favorite song. But playing that record all the way through about 5 times on my fucked up snow blinded commute allowed me to realize that it is indeed strong and killer. Not a bad song on there and I slept on Railroad song for sure.
@matchpoint of course, railroad song came off nuthin fancy and was I think one of their better albums after bob burns was fired and artimus pyle brought in from Charlie daniels band, skynyrd was a better band than the songs on radio like freebird , sweet home Alabama, great songs but have just been played out on the radio , in my opinion, some of their best work , never got airplay
Hello from Virginia 🇺🇸👍. I was raised up in the gravel pit outside of Fort Belvoir Virginia 🇺🇸 70s were awesome . That was what America was about $1,200 acre backyards
Ronnie vanzant leader of greatest rock band ever! NO! Look at the staying power if their music! That makes vanzant maybe biggest rock star ever! Ronnie Elvis berry. 2 of 3 best song writers in history
Ronnie van zant is closet thing u will see on stage live to Elvis the stage presence. Unmatched each man should get his moment to solo shine . He is the conductor that drives the train. Nobody else!
Man that was nice one more time with a little more feeling, hang on I'm waiting on the goose bums to go away, hah ha that was a new one ,I feel like the guy in gladiator when he looks up at the collisiem and says I never new men could do such things with guitars...cool shit.
That was awesome ......allen collins was a beast and ronnie......well can we say about him that hasnt already been said? This is the golden era for the fellas Ed King,Leon, Gary , Allen , Bob Burns.....never better......sorry Artie....i love APB too😂
The greatest southern rock band ever
Nice to see and hear the band
Of legend!!!!😊😊😂❤❤
Allen Collins sure new his guitar playing
Love this! Winterland 1975 happened on my 12th birthday!
I've always noticed that he kept his eyes on Gary ...
Ronnies charisma is so unbelievable, so he did`t need any "dancing" on stage. Every word he singing is meaning. You cant see than kind of frontman anymore. Sad but true.

Ha. Simple Man.
There just was not anyone quite like This Ronnie VANZANT
Could ya think what was instore for us if he didnt die
Every time I see a video of them, I car help but think about “that day”… I loved these guys when I was a kid, and still do. Probably always will… RIP Ronnie and band.
He's really something / no denying his genius.
Gotta be one of my favorite Lynard Skynard songs
Ronnie Van zant owned that stage I haven't seen a rocker like him for 40 plus years
Ed King was a major player in the early albums that LS put out. You don't have to look any further than Winterland. Eds a living legend.
And now he belongs to the ages, just joined the rest of the guys 2 weeks ago...RIP Mr. King.
It us my personal opinion that Ed was the most well rounded picker Skynyrd ever had. I LOVE Allen but Ed was a melody machine. I saw the Tribute Tour in New Orleans in '88. People just dont know how many amazing songs this band did!!!!! Hardest working band.....ever!!!!
Anyone that lived near the railroad tracks can appreciate this song
Living close railroad whole my life, i'm 72.
" What Rogers and the Hag wuz all about" great stuff.
I always loved Artimus's drumming on this one
That steam engine sound Artimus creates with his high hats...
Wow.
Epic, dude!
Artimus was the best he just didn't play games with the fake band that call themselves skynyrd
The best
This would not have been possible with Bob ! Also killer chops on the song "Trust" . Artimus is still walking the Earth in 2023 after even Gary is gone . He really got a raw deal .

Yeah man most people just know them few songs they dont know they have like five cd's of awesomeness
Fuck you smoko
The thing is that: as you discover live versione or you get to know better the album, you just start to wonder how you called yourself a skynyrd fan so far 😅 they are the gretest band of all time
They never had a CD, Fuck you
It never gets old.......
Allen sounds great on the Gibson
The rhythm section on this song is amazing; one of the best examples of bass and drums working together ever.
Lynyrd Skynyrd.
America's
Greatest
Rock'n'Roll
Band.
I love Aerosmith, their a strong #2 but Skynyrd...
In terms of talented guitarists that have passed through, Skynyrd stands up there with the Yardbirds & Thin Lizzy.
You do mean 1970's Aerosmith of course? If so, our musical tastes are identical. Brother?
RS: Absolutely. I was glad to see the original group reform - I'd seen The Joe Perry Project in 1982 and I thought he could do better, but...
When they brought in professional tunesmiths to help with the songwriting, 'Permanent Vacation', they lost an edginess that made them so awesome in the 70's.
Cant decide if Aerosmith or zepplin 2
It's crazy how young they started to and Ronnie was a real leader that pushed them to be great
Kick ass! Love The Railroad Song.
42 years ago. Wrap your mind around that.
I seen them play this its hard core
100 points for mentioning Merle (The Hag) in this song.
Ol Ronnie loved Merle. Had one of his songs played at his funeral, can’t exactly remember which tune right now.
@@NoFearMarinesAreHereROBLOX I believe it was " I take alot of pride in what I am"

Its ok to let freebird quietly retire. We don't need to hear but once every couple of years. Thanks

@@jerredwayne8401 Real Skynyrd fans love these so called “Deep Cuts” although to most Skynyrd fans they’re regularly played on our playlists.
Play it Allen!!
Love how everything they play live sounds just like the studio versions. Ronnie was a stickler for no deviations from the originals and it showed, unless it was one of their live cover versions like T for Texas then there was some variation but it always sounded good.
