Yep that is a fact it's a good thing that some of these young kids are actually listening to that old music the blues the rock that we all listen to they're actually getting up and playing with some of these bands.
When concerts were $4 or 5 and $6 you were seeing the best that music ever has had. Now you can't even see a band for less than $200 man it's absolutely ridiculous those days will never be here again. I bring them back because I have an extensive album collection with all of that stuff and I'll just love it I love listening to the music and going back in time a little bit feels good sometimes
Marshall Tucker, The Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Pure Prairie League were the Mr. Rushmore of Country Rock in the 70’s. Their music is timeless.
I'm proud to be from Spartanburg, S.C. to have a band that was the best , better than this bullshit they call music today it sucks ,nothing is better than the 70s best music ever!!!
@medlockjeff, I'm just down the road from you in Anderson. As a former musician, vocalist and bass player I can tell you from my interactions with fellow musicians over the years there are so so many of us that are happy to be from the upstate S.C. and look up to Toy Caldwell as a singer, song writer, guitarist and IDOL . First time I heard "Can't You See" I was waking up (half way) that morning and thinking I had written that song (dreaming) and wondering how it got on the radio so soon. lol
Many might not know that Toy was an injured US Marine during the Vietnam war. I still try to learn if his service was heroic. Yet once a Marine always a Marine. I thank him for his memory of service.
This song proves that you don't need a million chords or complicated passages for it to be great. All you need is a good groove and to play from the heart.
Still digging this in 2023. If you don’t love the soulful singing and playing here, I feel sorry for you. Thank you to the horrible woman who crushed the soul of the writer and inspired this absolute gem of classic rock.
Toy Caldwell. A founding member of the Marshall Tucker Band, Toy Caldwell served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. After he was injured by a land mine in 1967, he was shipped home and medically discharged.
How many times have I heard this song over the last 50 years? Five hundred, maybe a thousand? Yet every time I hear it nowadays it's just as wonderful and powerful as it was in the beginning. This is what is meant by the term, "A timeless classic".
Born in '66 here. My brother and I shared a bedroom. He is 12 years older than I. He would come home at night and put a 33 rpm album on. Played all night. I got the taste of the best music ever made before I ever hit double digits. This was one of my favorites and I still call and request it to this day
Toy's guitar style and song writing couldn't be duplicated so it made him the most irreplaceable member. The thing that I think is most unique about their music, and is what drew me too them, is the additional talent of Jerry Eubanks. His alto sax and flute parts in many of their songs just took this band to remarkable heights in southern rock. It was a once in a lifetime blending that stomped your feet while electricity shot up and down your spine. Boy Howdie!
A great RUclips comment. This song came up on my RUclips homepage for some reason, I’d never even heard of them before so I decided to give them a listen, it was the flute that kept me on board during the intro to keep listening. Thank god it did because I discovered The Marshall Tucker Band and all it’s glory. I’m from the UK so they were never on my radar until then. A New Life is just full of fantastic songs.

I realize this comment is old but how true a statement can't ever get to old , Yes indeed i have been playing guitar since i began in 67 & still play all the time but if we all could play as Toy & George did we would have no time for war & that's as good as it gets. Sad it's just not how things work.
The Marshall Tucker Band - Can't You See !!! It don't get no better than this , It still gives me goose bumps still like it did the first time i heard it !!!!!
This song takes me way back to 1973. So much feeling and heart ache in this song. Me and three of my best friends got high and piled into a car and headed for Texas Hall at the University of Texas at Arlington. It turned out to be an auditorium that would hold about 5000 people, but only 3000 showed up. The concert was billed for Jo Jo Gunn, The Marshall Tucker Band and Robin Trower. We knew a lot about Jo Jo Gunn but very little about the other two bands. We sat at the front of the balcony, looking down on the stage and boy o boy were we ever blown away by all three bands. We loved southern rock and Marshall Tucker was medicine for my soul. One of the all time great concerts that I have been to.
Wow. I checked out of UTA in Dec '69. Went into the military in '70-'74. Would've loved to have seen this concert in my hometown in '73, but, well, I was out earning my lifetime disability.
Thanks to Toy and the MTB for this great song. I'm 68 now but remember seeing you in Wheeling, WV when I was around 18. You and the Outlaws. Fantastic show that will forever be locked in my memory,

Extraordinary song. It makes me wish I was there in person to see and hear this awesome live performance of "Can't You See". Toy Caldwell was a true talent. Sad that he passed away early. :( I was a Junior in HS when this performance happened. Great times, the 70's were a weird but fun decade, especially the early 70's. What I like best about the music from this time is that the live performances weren't overproduced with all the lights and video and special effects. Just good musicians playing awesome music and putting themselves out there. GREAT!
It was around this time, in the city I grew up in, MTB came to the local concert hall. Me and a friend didn't have the money for tickets, as we didn't have jobs yet because we weren't sixteen. We managed to get a ride to the hall, then hung out with some friends who had tickets. When the concert started and all the ticket holders were inside, my friend wanted to leave. I told him to hang on a few minutes. Most of the people who were left outside left, leaving me and my friend and maybe ten others. A guy working the door of the hall came outside, looked around then told us to be quiet and let us in. We got to see Marshall Tucker Band for free...

Does it get any pure, sweeter, prettier? I don't think so. These guys are pure musical genius. I had the pleasure of seeing them dozens -- maybe hundreds of times -- over the years and always managed to be front and center. Loved everyone of their concerts
This song can take you to many places❤ No one can come up with the words to make music like that❤ Lord knows, he put them words in his HEART❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
my dad told me the first time of seeing the Marshall tucker band. it was just when the Allman Brothers started touring again with the loss of Duane, so my dad and his friend where on the right side of the stage about level with it too. they look at the amp stack and airbrushed on said Marshall Tucker Band " just like the Allman Brothers did" and the band blew the Brothers away with this song and many others like 24 hours at a time and fire on the mountain. feel i had to share that story one of my favorites
Love this music! I was 15 when it came out, and concerts were @ $5.00. Live in Jville, FL and have seen all the great southern bands...Allmans, Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, etc. Those were the days. Thanks for the memories!
MTB brings tears to my eyes...in my opinion the live version of 24 Hours at a time is untouchable by any band as the true anthem of southern rock...has been and always will be in my top 5 greatest songs of all time
I was at one of their concerts in 1979 in Biloxi, Ms and had been to many concerts by this time in my life. They were the most tightest bands I had ever herd. Best group in concert I had ever herd.
This song will never get old. How life was back then, I would love to have that free spirited life today. Without all of the distractions and even more corrupt government
One of the first concerts I saw was MTB in 1977 with Toy Caldwell, still memorable. These Southern boys could sure sing and play songs that can still make my hair rise 35 years later.
I had just turned 18, when this song played on KMET & the next morning I went straight to the the music store and bought their 8 track for my 1st car, a shiny red Karman Ghia. I have loved Marshall Tucker Band for 50 years now. I listen to Outlaw Radio on Sirius in our van & I have the CD & have them on my trusty old iPod.❤❤❤Love them

Toy you were the man brother... Just listening to it right now is giving me goose bumps.... Amazing song... Not many songs do this to me but this one sure does....
Maybe Simple Man by Skynrd?
@@MsSteelin Yes you're right... Simple Man is an amazing song also...
Does it get any pure, sweeter, prettier? I don't think so. These guys are pure musical genius. I had the pleasure of seeing them dozens -- maybe hundreds of times -- over the years and always managed to be front and center. Loved everyone of their concerts
Young kids take heed....this is real music!!
And that ain't no shit.
They're not paying attention; they're watching some anime shit
So raw. What talent for 20 and 30 yr old men. Nothing today even compares.....
I had not a clue that Toy was a Vietnam veteran, thank you for your service
Toy u were the greatest singer/songwriter there has ever been! They will never be another!
Their album Searchin' For A Rainbow had the definitive live version of Can't You See. Made me an instant Marshall Tucker fan for life...
This song can take you to many places❤ No one can come up with the words to make music like that❤ Lord knows, he put them words in his HEART❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Dudes got soul and can play that guitar
In my opinion, this is the finest live performance of any band ever.
An era when music was was Music, Marshall Tucker definitely one of the Great bands of that time👍💯
my dad told me the first time of seeing the Marshall tucker band. it was just when the Allman Brothers started touring again with the loss of Duane, so my dad and his friend where on the right side of the stage about level with it too. they look at the amp stack and airbrushed on said Marshall Tucker Band " just like the Allman Brothers did" and the band blew the Brothers away with this song and many others like 24 hours at a time and fire on the mountain.
feel i had to share that story one of my favorites
I was only 7 but remember my uncle playing this loud at a party
Every one of my teenage years took place in the 70’s. This song is one of the few that takes me back there every time I hear it.
Love this music! I was 15 when it came out, and concerts were @ $5.00. Live in Jville, FL and have seen all the great southern bands...Allmans, Skynyrd, Charlie Daniels, etc. Those were the days. Thanks for the memories!
And Molly Hatchet, 38 Special… What a city, Jacksonville!
Its said that Marshall Tucker was a blind piano tuner that the band met before the decided to use his name as the bands name.
Toy Caldwell was the Marshall Tucker Band......RIP my friend
I've listened to this song so many times over the years. It just never got any better than this.
MTB brings tears to my eyes...in my opinion the live version of 24 Hours at a time is untouchable by any band as the true anthem of southern rock...has been and always will be in my top 5 greatest songs of all time
I WILL 4-EVER LISTEN TO THIS ❤😊❤😊
I was at one of their concerts in 1979 in Biloxi, Ms and had been to many concerts by this time in my life. They were the most tightest bands I had ever herd. Best group in concert I had ever herd.
Still one of the best sounds from that era.
I listen to Outlaw Radio on Sirius in our van & I have the CD & have them on my trusty old iPod.❤❤❤Love them
Love it, song came right after my daughter was born. shes now 50 still rockin!
God i miss 70s and 80s we had it all i would trade all this tech stuff to go back but would like to keep our heath tech
Imagine, 50 years ago. Still iconic.
I've called this the man anthem all my life if this doesn't describe men and women I don't know what does and how men feel about women
One of the best southern rock songs ever
They are one of the bands that lead the way for southern rock
Listen, some of the best guitars!! And the singing is so good!!
Without a doubt, one of the best songs EVER!! ❤
