Do you know if a Samsung 360 Evo (SSD) would work with the Acer Predator Helios 300? Also when it comes to getting a 2nd hard-drive what should people look out for, such as requirements, physical size etc. (for people that aren't as tech savvy as yourself). Would really appreciate any help/tips.
I couldn't find any info about 360 Evo, do you maybe mean 960 Evo or 860? In terms of your 2nd question there's nothing complicated. You need only 2,5" drive that is usually about 7mm or 0,28 inch thick. Sometimes you can find 2,5" 15mm drives but i'm not sure if it will fit to Predator. And the connector is SATA. You can also install SATA SSD 2,5" if you want but i chose SSHD drive for my laptop. Thanks for commenting!
Thank you so much for the reply. Yes sorry I derped, I meant the 860 (not sure where 360 came from lol). The Samsung 860 Evo has SATA III, which is apparently backwards compatible, but a little slower with non SATA III inlets. When creating a hard disk partition for the 2nd hard drive, would you recommend putting the file system as NTFS if you are using it for gaming or what would you recommend for gaming? The SSHD is starting to win me over as they are considerably cheaper, but not as fast as SSD. Thanks again.
Yes so Samsung 860 Evo you probably mean this one here: amzn.to/2MPJO1b is 100% compatibile with Predator so don't worry. M.2 SSDs are faster than SATA but they are also more expensive. Predator comes with 256GB M.2 SSD so you already got one. :) Now if it comes to the Hybrid Drive the thing is that it can work nearly as fast as SSD but only if it comes to most frequently used aplications. So the more you run an application, the faster it works - that's basically saying. I'm always using NTFS file system because it's universal. I actually don't pay so much attention to that.
You good sir are epic, thank you so much. Not many Tech Savvy RUclipsrs or even other websites really understand that there are plenty of people out there that aren't tech savvy that need help/tips. Really appreciate your help and keep up the great work. PS: You easily have gained an extra subscriber :)
Before buying new RAM check the original RAM with CPU-Z and buy additional RAM which has the same frequency and the same CAS (CL) parameter. For example the factory RAM in my laptop is 16 GB 2400 MHz CL = 17 (ranks = dual). If you buy a RAM with different speed and/or CL then one of the RAM modules will downclock to match the slowest module and dual channel won't work. Rank has nothing to do with single/dual channel, 8 GB sticks are single rank and 16 GB sticks are dual rank but for dual channel mode both RAM sticks must have the same characteristics. Since it is not possible to buy the same stick as the original the only way to be sure dual channel will work is to remove the factory RAM and to buy 2 new matched sticks (8 GB + 8 GB or 16 GB + 16 GB).
That's the best solution to buy 2 new sticks, but if someone bought the laptop with 1x8 for example i think it's better to buy 1 more 8GB stick with the same specs. It doesn't have to be the same brand but as you said it's important to match the specs
@@TechFinds I've read on a few places the factory RAM on some newer Predator laptops is overclocked but as soon as you insert some other memory the BIOS overclocking settings are locked.
Thank you for the video! This is the only video I could find explicitly showing how to install RAM on an Acer laptop. Mine is an Acer Aspire VX15, which has a similar mechanism but requires I remove the whole back panel to access it. The mechanism itself was kinda stiff and confusing to the point that I was concerned about breaking it, but with help from this video, I successfully added another stick of RAM. Thanks a million!
I know nothing about laptops and I was a fool to buy the 8gb ram version because I figured 8 was enough and I prefer the bigger harddrive, but of course, 8 is not enough lol. One of my friends told me you couldnt even upgrade laptops so this video really helped me out, thanks.
Nice to know that it's helpful! 16GB RAM is a sweet spot for gaming and demanding tasks nowadays. Installing RAM in laptop is an easy process (especially in Predator Helios 300)
Do you want to replace the M.2 SSD or you want to know how to manually make the system recognize new drive? This guy shows how to add drive in the system (start from 10:25): bit.ly/2TF2856
I've already sent you a video where the guy shows step by step how to add the new drive in the system. Just follow the steps and when you finish your partition(s) will appear in Your PC.
Hello thank u for the video , i have a question what is the difference between single rank and dual rank ? On my laptop i have a 8 ram and i want to add another one so should i go single ou dual rank?
@@abdullahhamed1572 go for single rank as your laptop comes with one single ram stick. It's always good to match the specs of ram. However dyal rank would work as well.
*Hi. I have the i5, 8th gen (new) version of the Helios 300 and I have an extra 8GB but 2400mhz RAM. Would it be okay to install it instead of the suggested 2600mhz RAM? Please advise. Thank you kind sir.*
Yes it may work but don't be 100% sure. Your 2666MHz RAM would downclock to 2400MHz then so you can try. For the best compatibility I recommend to use both RAM of the same clock speed.
@@TechFinds *Thank you for the quick response. I just found out it was a DDR3 and it won't fit inside predator's DDR4 cartridge. Oh well, I guess I have to shell out 20 bucks for the 16GB DDR4. Thanks again and keep up the good work. God bless.*
Hello there, if I need to replace my HDD by a SSD with this method do you know how can I transfer my data and the OS on the new SSD drive, I am kinda loss 😅Great vid btw
You can use Microsoft media creation tool to install the copy of your windows (only system) on your new drive. For the programs you have to install it again too
If you have already 1TB HDD you have no more slots for 2.5"HDD. You have M.2 slot for M.2 SSD UT to get it you need to unscrew the whole bottom pannel. So if you want more storage you can replace your existing 1TB HDD with the new 2TB one or add 1TB M.2 SSD if you have empty M.2 slot.
Thank for the video. Is it not required to take the battery out? What about getting the static electricity out of the computer? Please let me know. Thanks.
Hey, the SSD in this laptop is M.2 type which is not wired. It just goes into the slot and it's secured by screw so no way that it could be disconnected. Unfortunately i didn't show how to replace it in this video, bot few other people did so you can at least see how to access it. Or maybe are you talking about additional 2.5" SSD that you installed? In this case you have to take off whole bottom lid as well to see if the cable is disconnected from the motherboard or drive.
@@MRDRYXIO You can check the HDD cable from only one side if you want. For that you just open one lid that i showed in the video. Disconnect the drive and connect it back, then see if it helped. But if you gave your laptop a good shake there is a chance that the HDD died, because it's a fragile hardware which should not be subjected to shocks.
Bro, I have Acer Predator Helios 300 i7 8th gen. I have 16gb 2666 MHz ram I want to upgrade to 32Gb which should choose HyperX 16gb or Crucial 16gb? Plzz Do Suggest
Okay, so I have 2 questions (actually 4). I own a Predator 300 PH315-5. 1. Mine is 8th gen i5 CPU. Can I buy a 3000Mhz RAM? will it improve performance? And can you suggest a compatible 3000MHz RAM? 2. Can you suggest the fastest M.2 SSD for Predator 300 PH315-51?
You can't have 3000MHz RAM. If you have 7th gen processor you can have up to 2400MHz and with 8th gen CPU up to 2666MHz. If it comes to SSD i can recommend Samsung Evo 970 M.2 SSD but it's suitable only for Predator with 8th gen CPU
@@TechFinds Thanks Man!!! So.. Apart from RAM and M.2 SSDs, Are there any other upgrades I should look for my laptop? For improving gaming experience..
Id like to ask if the brands need to be the same? Or is it okay to have the same ram with different brand but same frequency to pair up together? I have 8gb of ram version and looking to upgrade
It doesn't matter so much, it should work anyway. It's important to have as closest specs of RAM as possible. But for the best compatibility it's recommended to have 2 sticks of the same RAM.
I understand that the laptop can be upgraded to 32 GB, but what is the max Speed of the RAM that can be used? Last I saw was 2666, but what is the max speed in this form factor usable?
Great video--do I have to do anything on the laptop once it's installed, or can I immediately start using it? Do you need to copy the old hard drive to the new SSHD?
If you want to keep your files from old HDD then you have to make a copy and transfer them to the new drive. You'll need to install all the games or programs again tho. After installing new drive you have to go to device manager and make a partition. The RAM will be recognized automatically
1. Do I need to install the ram or something. Or can I just put it in and start the Laptop. 2. How do i upgrade my ssd to 500gb? What do I have to note?
You clearly explained everything, and you saved my 40 €, i didn't realised that i wasn't buying the right ram. You deserve more succes on RUclips, this is why I put a like :) But, i still have a question, if i buy one cruscial ram of 8 go and 2666 MT/s, if i add this to my actual ram of 8 go and 2400 MT/s, is there a possibility that i may encounter problems ?
@@driixiz2138 Yep, i didn't notice. :D If you do that it will probably downclock to 2400MHz to get 2 sticks of the same speed. It should work, but it will not be 100% compatible and you may get some compatibility issues but it's hard to predict what type. You may not even notice anything bad but you can also get blue screens if you're not lucky.
@@TechFinds Alright, thx, and i've got a last question about the SSD and i'm done bothering you XD. In my case, i would like to keep my HDD ( named "D:" ) and i would like to replace my SSD of 128 GB ( named "C:" ) but the only thing is, these 2 stockages were given with my pc, and i don't know where are they placed. Where are the 2 baies located ? And is it possible to change the old 128 GB SSD by my new 1 TB SSD ?
@@driixiz2138 In the video i showed only the location of 2.5" HDD, but if you wanna get to your M.2 SSD (C) you have to unscrew the whole bottom lid. The M.2 SSD looks way different, it's a small stick like RAM.
Hi! I have predator helios 300 PH315-51-538G which comes with 1TB HDD and 4GB DDR4 RAM, my questions were: 1) Which one do you prefer, Crucial or kingston valueram? 2) Can I use (1x4gb) then (1x16gb) RAM or should I have them on the same size? I'm so sorry for asking this. I just dont know where to read or ask about these stuff. Thank you so much
Is this laptop suitable for both gaming and school? Since corona I’ve been doing online school, so will it be good for zoom classes and typing essays and stuff like that?
Absolutely. Just a quick heads up,. though: the Predator is *loud*. I mean really loud when gaming. It's also manufactured to run both CPU and GPU at critical heat levels, which means it will get so hot you could fry an egg on its keyboard. I love the thing, but it sounds like a helicopter and will probably ignite sometimes soon just from running so hot.
Hey, good video. Will any of this RAM memories you listed in the description work on my Predator Helios 300 ph315-51? And if so, after installing it, what do I have to do to make the laptop recognize them. Another question, If I also install this new SSHD (I'm getting a 1TB one) does that mean that I need to have some sort of backup for all the things already on my laptops' storage? Thanks for your time Edit: The frequency of this Rams' specific Laptop is 2666MHz
The system will recognize RAM automatically, you just need to physically put the sticks into the slots. If you have 8th gen processor you go for 2666MHz RAM. 7th gen supports 2400MHz. Your laptop has 2 slots for drives. First one is for M.2 SSD where your Windows is installed. The second one is what i showed on the video - if it's empty just install the drive and you don't have to do any backup. But if you have some HDD there and you wanna replace it you should transfer your files to the new drive. After installing new drive you have to select it in your system and set the volume to make it appear in your PC.
@@TechFinds Thanks for the reply. I have another question, I hope I'm not bothering you that much lol. Should I transfer all my games and heavy files to this new SSHD when installed?
@@itsjoaco7986 You have to re-install the games on your new drive. You can transfer all files you need from your old drive to the new one. But if you mean if you should transfer from your M.2 SSD to new SSHD it's up to you. They can stay as they are.
Sorry but i didn't notice your comment - it went to the spam lol... Anyway, i cannot check it for you, because i don't have this laptop anymore since i had it only for testing purposes and after recording shots for review and comparisons i had to send it back.
Hey I have i5 8gen Helios 300.. I want to upgrade the RAM for using software such as Maya and Houdini smoothly ...can u suggest which ram and what would be idle for those things...and also I have 128 GB SSD should I upgrade it too ,if yes then which would be best.
If you wanna mix RAM with the stock one go for Crucial that i linked in the description (2666MHz). If you wanna buy 2 sticks you're free to choose. For storage you can byt some HDD or SSHD that i showed in this video.
Yes, that's easy. After you swap hard drives you have to install new one in the system. Here is how you do it (start from 10:20). ruclips.net/video/UV72wLA06_c/видео.html
@@alandavison8031 i think that for every hard drive they are the same. You should have them shipped with the laptop. If you don't have them you can buy them in some electronics shop. Hello, it's a great Chanel first of all. Kindly clear my couple of doubts : 1) If I upgrade my 8gb ram to 24 gb by adding a 16gb stick of same 2400 rmp, will the performance will be same ? In case of dual channel. Will my laptop will use 8 gb and 16 gb ram to the fullest? 2) about SSD: I have 128 gb SSD and 1 TB internal by default, Can i upgrade my SSD from 128 to 1tb ; so in total I have 2 TB storage( 1tb internal hdd+ 1tb external SSD)? 3) is the default SSD better than Seagate barracuda 2TB? In terms of speed? 4) Important question: Suppose if i buy 2tb Seagate barracuda instead of 1 TB SSD, will that mean my system will have total 3TB of support? Does predator accepts 3TB of space?
1. You'll have better performance if you upgrade from 8GB to 24GB and all your RAM will be fully used if needed. 2. You can upgrade your SSD to 1TB 3. Default SSD is much faster than Barracuda which is a regular HDD. 4. If you already have 1TB HDD and you'll replace it with 2TB Barracuda you will have 2TB HDD + your 128GB SSD. But you can also replace your SSD with a 1TB one so you will have 3 TB storage in total
I never opened a ram slot or any part of a laptop before. Is it safe to open it ourselves or call a service professional who charges for a simple task and also what type of screwdriver is required to open the ram slot, Thanks
It is very easy in case of this laptop so you can do it on your own. It's only one screw to remove. Use a small phillips head screwdriver that fits the screw tight to not strip it.
@@eajayreddy9878 I never paid any attention to that. Some people say that it's possible, some people say that it's not. It never happened to my laptops tho. I believe that Acer would not give people easy access to only RAM through small window without ability to disconnect the battery if it was a common thing. ;) But you have to disconnect the power cord for sure.
I have a question, so the links you added in the description comes with 2x 16gb sticks of ram, do i need to replace the one i have in stock and put the 2 new ones ? Or the laptop comes with 2 extra ram slots? And for the hard drive slot i can just add a new hard drive to the one i currently have to i would have my 256ssd plus the new one correct? Thank you for your time
You can add only one RAM stick to your existing ram or replace it with 2 new sticks. The laptop has only 2 RAM slots. RAM from link is an example, you can choose other size or only one stick. If it comes to drive it's exactly as you say.
I have Predator PH315-51 of 2018 make. As of now i have 128 GB SSD and 1TB HDD which came with the laptop. i wanted to increase my Memory (either HDD or SSD) so had some questions. 1. If i wanted to increase performance which one is best to add, SSD or SSHD? 2. Can i add SSD to the existing one ? is there expandable slots available
1. SSD is much faster 2. this laptop has 2 slots for storage drives, one is your 128GB M.2 SSD and the second is your 1TB HDD which you can replace with 2.5" SATA SSD like Samsung 860 Evo.
The factory M.2 SSD works in SATA mode, if you replace it with some NVMe SSD Windows and programs will start much faster. WD SN550 1TB M.2 NVMe SSD is very good for the laptop because it doesn't overheat and draws very low current. It isn't the fastest SSD one could buy but it's still 5 times faster than factory SSD.
Hi. I have a helios with 8th generation i5, 8 gb ram. I want to add additional 16 gb, i need to create a few VMs on my system so I need the ram. Which one do you recommend? Ballistix sport lt or Hyperx? Also, should I go for single ranked or dual ranked stick?
Ohh i think that the performance of both HyperX and Ballistix will be pretty much the same and in my opinion the only difference is price here. HyperX is a special series of gaming-oriented RAM from Kingston and Ballistix is a gaming RAM from Crucial so ask yourself which brand you trust or like more. If it comes to single or dual rank go for dual as it should perform a little bit better (maybe up to 5%) than single rank in certain aplications. Also you shouldn't have problems by having single rank RAM in one slot and dual rank in another slot but for the best compatibility i always recommend to have both exactly the same RAM sticks in both slots.
great vid, thanks for the help but i have some questions :D after i ad then new SSD do i loose access to my old one and i have to move everything into the new one? also will my laptop be able to handle then new SSD if i dont upgrade my RAM or will i need to upgrade bot? also last but not least what is the best upgrade i can give my laptop in overall performance and memory (so best RAM and SSD) ? sorry if this is 2 much :( Edit: Sorry i read some of the other comments and u said we dont loose the old files if we dont remove the old SSD, what u did was keeping the old SSD and also adding a new one in addition to that and the both work at the same time? :D
Yep i just added additional drive. The laptop has one slot for M.2 SSD under the bottom lid so you have to unscrew it all. You have also one 2.5" drive bay for HDD or SSD or SSDH as in my case.
@@TechFinds So the M.2 SSD spot is for if I want to change out the SSD? Or it is another space for another drive? As far as adding a HD or hybrid, that is via the small plate you remove from the bottom of the laptop? Thank you for being so patient with me!

Yep, you can replace HDD with SSHD or even 2.5" SSD if you want. It should also have a M.2 slot for SSD but i am not sure if this configuration has it (it should). This is a budget version of Predator Helios 300 but the quality is still the same. Just expect slower performance because of GTX 1050ti and weaker processor. Hi - Love the video and thank you for posting it. I am using the Helios 300 model for the last one year (bought it from Flipkart, India for a good discount). How can I check which model RAM my laptop has? Any pointers?
Sorry mate, i didn't notice your comment somehow! If you have Predator from 2018 with 8th gen. Intel processor and 144Hz display you can go for 2666MHz RAM. The 2017 model supports up to 2400MHz. You can install maximum 32GB (2x16GB) in both models. In the video i show one ram stick very close and you can see on it some white sticker with barcode and numbers. There are informations about the RAM - in my case it is Kingstone (as shown), and on the top left you can see that it is 8GB single rank 2400MHz ("8GB 1Rx8 PC4 - 2400R"). For a gaming laptop i recommend HyperX or Ballistix (i linked them in the description) as they are gaming-oriented ones but if you're on budget you can go for regular Crucial RAM which is the cheapest option. The performance should be almost the same.
If you're not replacing the drive where your files are located then you don't have to worry about that. Just install the new SSHD and you'll have your files on your existing drive + your new SSHD empty.

How has the performance of the Seagate SSHD held up? I'm wanting to upgrade from my 256 SSD. I've seen all the bad reviews on Amazon and it's really straying away from purchasing the SSHD. Is the compute, and gaming the same line as some reviews say? How does it compare to stock SSD? Is ram upgrade necessary?
Your SSD is probably M.2, so you should have 2.5" slot free. Check it out. In general SSD is faster and it has constant speed while SSHD works fast only when you open the app often or start the windows. It learns to open faster the apps/games that you use frequently, but it's not gonna be faster than normal SSD. It's faster than HDD tho. If you can go for newer model. You don't have to upgrade RAM.

Good question, but I couldn't find any info about that. I think the only way to find it out is to give it a try. But maybe it's better to buy 16GB i stead just in case if less RAM would not enable dual channel

Sure, you can replace the existing M.2 SSD with different one but you'll need to reinstall windows on the new drive. To get the M.2 SSD you have to uns rew the whole bottom. You have also 2.5" drive bay for HDDso you can add some 2TB one.

To be honest i use a random screen cleaner (without alcohol). It's hard to specify since it's probably very small brand. However my screen is still good. ;)
You have one slot for M.2 SSD and one slot for 2.5" HDD / SSD. So you have 2 slots in total. If you have 2 drives installed you have to replace one if you want to install new bigger drive
It depends on what you gonna use the drive for. Basically i think MBR is more default but here you have all the differences so you can decide which one to choose. bit.ly/2tBIZj4
Hi, I have a question. So is adding this pretty much another integrated hard drive other than the already existing one on the laptop that’s built into it?
for the 2017 model of Predator you have M.2 SATA drives like this one: amzn.to/2qSDmNX And the 2018 model supports faster ones M.2 (NvMe) like this: amzn.to/2RIDbAg You have also drive bay for 2.5" SSD, HDD or SSHD and in the video i was showing how to replace or add it.
Tech Finds I have one and my question really was that if I add this FireCuda 2T just like on your video. Do I have to transfer all my existing programs that I already have on the 256gb onto this FireCuda? Or will this FireCuda function as a separate harddrive?

Hi sir helpful vid btw, am from the philippines, question i just bought a predator helios 300 with 4gb ram and looking to upgrade it, but i am new to techs, how would i know if the ram i am buying fits on my laptop? Is there a size detail inches or anything to know?
Hey, you need to buy RAM for laptop. 260-pin 1,2V DDR4 CL19. If you have Predator with i7-7700HQ or i5-7300HQ you can install up to 2400MHz RAM. For i7-8750H or i5-8300H you can buy 2666MHz. The Crucial that i linked in the description should be available in your country too, so look for it, because it will be perfect.
I have laptop with 8gb ram(expandable upto 32gb) For this could it be possible to have 24Gb Ram in secondary slot. Or, i just have to get 2x16Gb in my laptop instead? Need help...
Hi is this the 15” screen? Do you know by any chance if all these models come ready with the HDD caddy connector and cable? Cause I was reading that some don’t and that you have to purchase that HDD bracket and cable separately Thanks
It depends on the country where you buy. If it's USA you should get the caddy and cable inside the laptop even if you buy it with only M.2 SSD but I've heard about some cases that people got it without. Yep, it's the 15" model.
If you wanna add 1 more RAM stick go for Crucial that i linked in the description as it has the same specs as original RAM. For the model with 8th gen processor go for 2666MHz and if u have 7th gen processor go for 2400MHz RAM
By default it comes with 2x8 so you can replace one stick with new 16GB one to have 24GB in total. But sometimes it may come with 1x16GB depending on the country or configuration. Check if you have 1 or 2 RAM sticks, there's only one screw.
I bought this laptop as a normal customer for the review purposes and sent it back after testing. By default it comes with M.2 SSD only but you can also find the configurations with only 2.5" HDD or both M.2 SSD and 2.5" HDD. In the description i left Amazon link for the model with SSD only.
What brand of ram does the predator come with preinstalled and does the predator Helios supports and able to receive 5ghz WiFi signal ??? And about the HDD AND SSD the Acer web shows there is a 1Tb hdd and a 128gb SSD preincluded upon purchased ???
Predator comes with Kingston RAM. There are many different configurations, but in default in USA it comes with 256GB SSD only. On Acer's site or Amazon you can find more configuratioms, for example with only 1tb HDD or both SSD and HDD of different capa ity variants. If it comes to WiFi i don't know.
Hi, I'm getting Helios 300 (2020) model very soon. Predator Helios 300 (PH315-53-77CF) *i7-10750H (2.60 GHz) *8GB (DDR4 SDRAM) I want to add another 8GB ram to make it 16GB ram in total. My question is, can I mix different ram with the ram that came with the laptop itself ? I'm gonna get 8GB Kingston HyperX Impact DDR4 2666Mhz. Is that okay ? Thanks
Hello. Thanks for the video. I have a Predator Helios 300. I want to buy another RAM of 8gb. You say there is a new model using 2666mhz RAMs, and an old model with 2400mhz RAMs. How do I know which model it's mine? Thanks!
The models that support 2400MHz RAM come with 7th generation processors like i7-7700HQ. The models with 8th and 9th gen Intel processors support 2666MHz RAM

I'm glad that it was helpful. The RAM slots have the same mechanism in every laptop, just the difference of stiffness.
I know nothing about laptops and I was a fool to buy the 8gb ram version because I figured 8 was enough and I prefer the bigger harddrive, but of course, 8 is not enough lol. One of my friends told me you couldnt even upgrade laptops so this video really helped me out, thanks.

Hello there, if I need to replace my HDD by a SSD with this method do you know how can I transfer my data and the OS on the new SSD drive, I am kinda loss 😅Great vid btw

I have this laptop with 1tb hdd and 8gb of ram, if i add another 1tb to that back slote, will my total storage become 2tb?
If you have already 1TB HDD you have no more slots for 2.5"HDD. You have M.2 slot for M.2 SSD UT to get it you need to unscrew the whole bottom pannel. So if you want more storage you can replace your existing 1TB HDD with the new 2TB one or add 1TB M.2 SSD if you have empty M.2 slot.

Hello, I punched because of rage and now my ssd disappeared from Windows
How can I access to it to see if the cable is disconnected?
Hey, the SSD in this laptop is M.2 type which is not wired. It just goes into the slot and it's secured by screw so no way that it could be disconnected. Unfortunately i didn't show how to replace it in this video, bot few other people did so you can at least see how to access it. Or maybe are you talking about additional 2.5" SSD that you installed? In this case you have to take off whole bottom lid as well to see if the cable is disconnected from the motherboard or drive.
Tech Finds oh I’m sorry I was wrong it’s not the SSD but the HDD which doesn’t appear. Is is easier to see if it’s still connected?
@@MRDRYXIO You can check the HDD cable from only one side if you want. For that you just open one lid that i showed in the video. Disconnect the drive and connect it back, then see if it helped. But if you gave your laptop a good shake there is a chance that the HDD died, because it's a fragile hardware which should not be subjected to shocks.

Is this laptop suitable for both gaming and school? Since corona I’ve been doing online school, so will it be good for zoom classes and typing essays and stuff like that?
Sure, these are not demanding tasks so any laptop would be suitable.
After we add the memory card(ram), does the memory storage swap with the new one or the memory storage increases by adding the new one??

Hey, good video. Will any of this RAM memories you listed in the description work on my Predator Helios 300 ph315-51? And if so, after installing it, what do I have to do to make the laptop recognize them. Another question, If I also install this new SSHD (I'm getting a 1TB one) does that mean that I need to have some sort of backup for all the things already on my laptops' storage? Thanks for your time
Edit: The frequency of this Rams' specific Laptop is 2666MHz

4) Important question: Suppose if i buy 2tb Seagate barracuda instead of 1 TB SSD, will that mean my system will have total 3TB of support? Does predator accepts 3TB of space?

If you're not replacing any of current drives then you won't loose any data installing new drive in empty slot
@@TechFinds, Thank You.
I have Predator PH315-51
of 2018 make.
1. SSD is much faster
2. this laptop has 2 slots for storage drives, one is your 128GB M.2 SSD and the second is your 1TB HDD which you can replace with 2.5" SATA SSD like Samsung 860 Evo.
This helped a lot thank you! Mine didn't come with the extra screws though so Idk if its supposed to be a little loose.
You can always buy the screws on the internet or in some computer shop
Thanks a lot!!!
great vid, thanks for the help but i have some questions :D
after i ad then new SSD do i loose access to my old one and i have to move everything into the new one? also will my laptop be able to handle then new SSD if i dont upgrade my RAM or will i need to upgrade bot? also last but not least what is the best upgrade i can give my laptop in overall performance and memory (so best RAM and SSD) ? sorry if this is 2 much :(
Edit: Sorry i read some of the other comments and u said we dont loose the old files if we dont remove the old SSD, what u did was keeping the old SSD and also adding a new one in addition to that and the both work at the same time? :D
After putting the new ssd and ram do you have to do something in settings to recognize it?
RAM will be recognized automatically, and for the drive to make it appear in the system you have to go to device manager and make a partition
So you were adding another drive to it? It has another under that or in another place? (I'm looking at getting one of these).
@@davidbailey6932 You can add SSD instead of HDD, into the slot under this small lid, but it has to be 2.5" SSD. For example Samsung 860 Evo that i linked in the description

You'll be able to play demanding games on medium and up to high settings depending on game.

Hi - Love the video and thank you for posting it. I am using the Helios 300 model for the last one year (bought it from Flipkart, India for a good discount). It has 1TB HDD and 128 GB SSD so I am good on that front. It has only 8 GB RAM and I am aware that it is upgradeable up to 32 GB. Which RAM company do I purchase? And will this be 2400 Mhz? How can I check which model RAM my laptop has? Any pointers?
Same question here bro
I have bought crucial RAM from Amazon. Which is currently at cheaper price
It's still a good RAM from well-known manufacturer, even though it's cheap.
@@saikrishnach777 Did you buy it here in Amazon India? If so, can you share the link?
Is the FireCuda 2tb the best option to install on the Predator? Does it have 5400rpm or 7200? Many thanks
It's a hybrid drive 5400rpm with flash memory stick like in SSD. I'm using it and it'm happy.
When putting in the SSHD do you need to back up all your files or are you fine with leaving them on the computer then just starting it back up again?
If you're not replacing the drive where your files are located then you don't have to worry about that. Just install the new SSHD and you'll have your files on your existing drive + your new SSHD empty.

@@parimaldas3333 i think there's not a big difference between RAM of different brands. If you want some gaming oriented RAM you can go for HyperX or Ballistix but if you want to save some money you can go for cheaper option from Crucial. I linked all these in the description.
How has the performance of the Seagate SSHD held up? I'm wanting to upgrade from my 256 SSD. I've seen all the bad reviews on Amazon and it's really straying away from purchasing the SSHD. For your link in the description, it is 74.99, and then Amazon shows that there is a "newer model" for 79.50, which one do I proceed to get? Is the compute, and gaming the same line as some reviews say? How does it compare to stock SSD? Is ram upgrade necessary?
Your SSD is probably M.2, so you should have 2.5" slot free. Check it out. In general SSD is faster and it has constant speed while SSHD works fast only when you open the app often or start the windows. It learns to open faster the apps/games that you use frequently, but it's not gonna be faster than normal SSD. It's faster than HDD tho. If you can go for newer model. You don't have to upgrade RAM.

By default it comes with 2x8 so you can replace one stick with new 16GB one to have 24GB in total. But sometimes it may come with 1x16GB depending on the country or configuration. Check if you have 1 or 2 RAM sticks, there's only one screw.
