I have RA , I’m 6’4, and always struggled with my swing. I purchased the A swing book when it came out and boy what a difference in my game. It’s now Fun! Thanks David.
Many of the golfers I play with do not hit the ball well, and struggle. I learned this swing years ago and have tweaked it ever since. I got serious with it for a few years and scored well on the nearby Municiple courses (low 80's)The mechanics are not easy, so I eventually slip into a poor grip, poor posture, and take the club back inside too far. When this happens, I watch these videos over, and all the old cues come back. I am now a high handicapper well into my sixties, (low twenties), but not because I don't hit the ball in the air consistently and straight. I have enjoyed golf since learning this swing.
The 'A" swing has helped my game a lot. After watching the videos here I bought the book and have been practicing the drills a little and playing whilst trying to incorporate the changes to my swing required for this method. Personally it's been great for me and would recommend it to anyone.
@@stevestewart240 My short game developed quite well so no need to apply this method although it does help with not getting the club to the inside early in the takeaway which helps with pitching.
@@nicklee5324 Lydia should had understood her swing more. You are correct Mr.Lee. Lydia didn’t know any better.Thank you for making my point.Btw leadbetter doesn’t teach a swing. He teaches fundamentals.in theory the A swing works but it doesn’t work for everyone.I guess that includes Lydia according to you.
The A Swing is great for those worried about the backswing and transition down. I can now drive the ball straight and much longer. Also am hitting my irons much more solid. This swing is just so simple! I don't have all those different swing thoughts going through my mind when I stand over the ball now.
Back when I started golfing, we did not have internet or instructions on TV. I just got some clubs, hit the driving range, and did what I had to so I could hit it straight. After about 2 years of playing I was a 9 handicap. Later came the internet and the Golf Channel telling me how I was all wrong, and now I am lucky to break 90. I cannot hit a driver as long or as straight as i used to. I swayed back and through with my swing, but I was consistent and the club it the ball square. Look at Trevino's swing, or even Palmer. Ugly looking swings, but all that matters is the club face to ball contact position. All the rest has been dissected so much its not enjoyable anymore.
Another victim of too much information I’m afraid. Golf was much more fun when it was just square the face up swing thought. May God bless my friend when in search of your old self and remember there’s more than on way to skin a cat. Teachers teach because they can’t do. Peace!
I do love david. His show on the old golf channel eons ago had a segment about how to stop slicing. It was an a ha moment for me and actually felt what ball compression is. But...lol...the A swing seems very hard for a limited ability player to learn. I dont know. lol. I have a linear force rotary swing and this swing just seems so counter intuitive. But whatever. To me its how the person matches up with an approach. You just have to find it. Some people may take off with this i suppose
This highlights one of the biggest problems in golf teaching, David Leadbetter asks him, 'you have lessons?' and nods when the guy say 'yes'. Then DL shows him that he's had a lousy grip for the ten years he's been playing and 90% of amateurs have a poor grip. So I'm betting that none of the pro's this man has seen have corrected his 'lousy' grip. It's a lottery to find a good teacher you can trust, and it shouldn't be.
justjames1111 this video showed me the same thing about the grip. ive had a few lessons but they all focused on the right hand position. I'm excited to use this new grip and hinge more
DL changes his grip to a stronger position and then wants him to set the club early (putting the lead wrist into extension opening club face) which also is a great way to NOT have lag on the downswing. So open face and now teaching rotation. He’s going to hit dead right or stall his body to square face and essentially is back where he started. That’s the real issue with instruction. Poor understanding of matchup
Most pro's suck in teaching. In my opinion you need to learn how to move your body. Most pro's just repeat instructions they have learned and can't explain why it is correct.
Perhaps this swing is designed more for the casual player who doesn't have hours a day to practice on the range. Also, Ryan Moore's swing is a lot like the A swing, and he's good enough to be on the tour.
Jason Moser you can’t wear jeans on a golf course. Not in the UK anyhow. Maybe you can in Trumps US. First amendment isn’t it? freedom to wear anything on the course?
could be both but im guessing the 2nd... my grip is pretty good and still my teacher says 'check your grip' about every fifth stroke. Its an easy way to gain some consistency.
Jack has/had VERY small hands. In fact, there used to be a magazine ad some years ago which had an actual pic of Jacks hands and surprisingly they were the exact size as mine. I could never grip a club in my fingers, only in my palms based on how small my hands are
Exactly everyones got different size hands. I got big palms small fingers . Gotta hold it more in palm or will hook it all day long. Leadbetter said years ago in a video with nick faldo that the left hand was a palm grip now hes saying its a finger grip. Nonsense depends on the individual.
This is so unnecessarily complex. Need a phd to play golf. Watch Moe Norman instead. Best ball striker in golf. Simple and intuitive. You won't learn anything useful from Leadbetter.
what a moronic statement...I'm not a big fan of the A swing, but no one plays like Moe and even Moe wasn't competitive in America while many of Lead's students have had incredible success everywhere...btw, I watched Moe in 1988 and 1990 and while he was very straight his distance control was for shit, which is really bad considering how short he hit it
Well there is at least one guy on a tour using Moes swing; ruclips.net/video/-tAAfjLYTDk/видео.html. Be interesting to see his progression. But really its because Moe was autistic and had an extreme ability to focus on repetition.
Yeah but Moe's woes in the US were due to his inability to handle the ridicule he received on the US tour about his social awkwardness. Check his Canadian tour stats. There is no doubt he was one of the greatest ball strikers in history. Several sub 60 rounds (yes exhibition) and 17 hole in ones.. come on. I wouldnt teach Moes swing, nor the A swing, but Moe's ball striking is undeniable.
14:22 The transition from release into handshake is world class
glad i was not the only observer of that! amazing
Brilliant 😂😂😂
Quality! Haha

Golf helped me quit drinking and doing bad stuff to my life . I suck at golf but sucking at golf has Been better than sucking at life like I used to .
great to hear Clarence - golfers enjoy a great life and am so glad I started 42 years ago

Help your game because you don’t know any better!! Ruin Lydia’s swing and it took her many years to fix it

i agree. i've had only a few lessons over the years and none of them helped me, it's like who do you trust.
13:00 "turn mechanics into feel" yes.
Most important part of the A swing is to have your belt close to your neck.
lol
theconman lol. You win.
lmao
ahahahahahaahah
any teacher that comes out with a gimmick bs swing is a horseshit teacher. any pro or weekend warrior should run from this clown.
Why does Jack disagree with holding the club with the fingers in the left hand?
Great information . If only Lisa would stop rushing everything . really a distraction watching and see her interrupting
She's gotta make sure they get those commercials in. I mean who wants to watch people playing/learning golf on the Golf channel?
When is the next National Learning Day?
Does anyone teach or use this swing?
No.. so stupid!
Lydia Ko is giving up on the A Swing and now try to get back to her old swing
Perhaps this swing is designed more for the casual player who doesn't have hours a day to practice on the range. Also, Ryan Moore's swing is a lot like the A swing, and he's good enough to be on the tour.
After all, she is Lydia Ko. She can use any kind of swing.
3:40 he shoulda said why he fluffed it
Wow those pants are out of the 90s
Jason Moser you can’t wear jeans on a golf course. Not in the UK anyhow. Maybe you can in Trumps US. First amendment isn’t it? freedom to wear anything on the course?
Why aren't you teaching the golfing machine? I thought that conversation with Salley kelley might have changed your mind.
I had 100 lessons and no one has ever adjusted my grip. I’m not sure if that means my grip is fine or the pro is just ignoring it.
could be both but im guessing the 2nd... my grip is pretty good and still my teacher says 'check your grip' about every fifth stroke. Its an easy way to gain some consistency.
Buddy chunking it on his first swing. That'd be me. I'd shank it 35 yards to the right.
Jack Nicolas held the club in his left hand palm not fingers.
Although I hold my club in my fingers. Just saw a lesson with jack and how he disagrees with fingers for the left hand.

Why do they start clapping? 😂
Thank goodness Lydia ko left that quack! Had she stayed with him, he would have not only destroyed her swing , but her career!
Lisannoying.
Btw, that A swing is worth a D.
the kids looks cold.
Golf mat advertisement, heel strike, toe strike. Is she backwards on that? My toe is forward, and my heel back. Hmmmm
i wish the girl would stop interupting.
This is so unnecessarily complex. Need a phd to play golf. Watch Moe Norman instead. Best ball striker in golf. Simple and intuitive. You won't learn anything useful from Leadbetter.
How do you know until you try it? And if Moe's swing is so "simple and intuitive", why don't more professional golfers have a swing like he has?
yeah all those pro's he taught winning comps, nothing to learn here!
what a moronic statement...I'm not a big fan of the A swing, but no one plays like Moe and even Moe wasn't competitive in America while many of Lead's students have had incredible success everywhere...btw, I watched Moe in 1988 and 1990 and while he was very straight his distance control was for shit, which is really bad considering how short he hit it

Who wouldn’t
This teaches a massively cupped wrist. Terrible.
