- Join me for a ride on the 2nd longest roller coaster in the world and the longest in Europe at a staggering 7,442ft (2,268m) or 1.4 miles long
The 1991 coaster was finished off by British Rail using a tubular steel track and having 2 huge wooden lift Hills making it a hybrid and one of the first of its kind
The coaster has 2 trains one blue and one red with both having 10 cars with riders 2 across in 2 rows with a total of 38 as the front car only has 2 seats

This is the weirdest coaster I've ever seen. It's like The Beast and an alpine coaster met in a bar one night and one thing lead to another.

It was a similar track length to the Beast too. Ultimate was a few hundred longer but both in the 7000s. Only Steel Dragon 2000 has topped them. Remains the only coaster to be 8000 or longer. Wonder who and when will be the first to hit 9000?
Best thing about this coaster is 1) It's very long. So you get what you paid and waited for. 2) It's all built on the ground and has a very scenic view while you're on it. It's nice how whoever designed it, wanted to appreciate the and incorporate the surrounding areas. Respect x
Completely agree. This was my first favourite roller coaster as a kid. Many happy memories of it 😊
ive been on it 5 times and once you go over the second drop its bloody violent it will leave you with bruses
First time I went on it I got home and I think I had like ten new bruses....

Sat here 6 years later, howling laughing at the screams and commentary over how painful it is, as I reminisce about riding this years ago and enduring the exact same shock of pain and thrill. It was an incredible experience, and i am looking back as i mourn the fact that it's been removed from the park. Good times... really good times.

Went on this on Sunday, loved it but it can be really rough near the front, sounds daft but I stick teddy's or pillows on the side of the restraints to stop my knees from banging about watch my vlog to see how lol
I hold the restraints from the bottom, so if my knees shoot upwards, they hit my hands.

I loved this coaster, it was such a unique experience. Never ridden anything quite like it. Second half is really fun.

Brilliant, underrated coaster. Just ride it further back. I've been as far forward as the third row and was left unhurt.
I remeber going here when a youngster this is such a weird coaster will probably leave you with bruises but it's quite a peaceful trip round and scenic other than that

After riding this for the first time 2 weeks ago I can say this ride is absolutely incredible!! I actually really enjoy how rough it is it adds a good thrill! Back seat and front are incredible! I really rate this ride highly ! :)

Ok light water valley is not the best theme park, but this ride is great! My sister did get stuck on it though! :O

When I rode Ultimate it felt like riding a steel verison of the Beast with slightly less trees and a bit of a tamer finale.

Went on this today, and yeah it's thrilling but it has to be one of the roughest coasters I've been on, sounds like the train was about to fall apart towards the end, the wife is bruised all over after being on it once, dont think I'll be back on it, my hip replacement operation was less painful, terrible ride & should carry serious health warnings👎

😂😂 I went on it four times while I was there, it's a long drive for me and not sure if I'd go on many rollercoasters again even I I did go, do you know the dinosaur one? that got reopened up while I was leaving because it got closed briefly, the whole reason I went to lightwater valley
Look at the dent in the track at 3.54, that doesn't look safe ;( Pretty hairy coaster, I love how it's laid out through the woods really close to the ground..
I remember going on it in 2015 and there was a lot more trees. Still a pretty good ride, though. A real shame you have to wait 30-40 mins in line to get on it.

What mount did u record this on.cos it's stable considering how fast and bumpy the ultimate is or did u use a stabilizer
OutC_ Britto I use an official GoPro handle that has a foam grip and wrist strap ! I have a steady hand and follow the ride as it goes round to keep it stable ! The GoPro I use is the Hero Session
There are things I both like and dislike about this coaster. If I was to rate it out of 10, I would give it a 5. It's not bad, but it's not great either, it has it's quirks however there is still lots of fun to be had riding this, so it's worth a having a one or two rides on it during your visit. The things I really like about this coaster is the fact that I love "Terrain Coasters" and it's long length. Although unfortunately, you spend most of the ride on the notoriously slow lift hills and coasting at a very slow speed just before the second drop. The first part of the track (after the first drop) is a little bit too slow paced to excite, especially over the crests towards the end, however the same applies to other parts of the track too. You may think that during that time you can enjoy just a scenic cruise through the park, but this is a very rough coaster! So to the point where it is more rickety than some of the worst Northern Rail trains, so there is lots of knee bashing going on (although I do keep hearing that it's better when you are further towards the back of the train). Apart from those few downsides, the momentum from the drops and flying through the high speed turns through the woods, as well the helixes are the awesome parts of the ride, which makes this coaster worth riding during your visit, if you don't mind the roughness.
It also has a fair few interesting things going for it too, such as this coaster ironically being made by British Rail. The fact that it looks like a wooden/hybrid coaster, despite being steel, plus it also looks like a backyard roller coaster in many places. This coaster has also hit two deers over it's life (showering passengers in blood!). Also is this supposed to be a roller coaster or miniature railway? This coaster is sure one of the most interesting right!? ;)

PHAEDRIDER it has more wooden supports than most wooden coasters do lol !! No you are right it’s not classed as a hybrid it is a steel coaster but it has a mixture of both so you can call it whatever

What about the ride actually hurt? Was it cos of the knee space or the general jolting? I've had a previous back injury but love rollercoasters so need to be careful about which I go on x

Yeah it’s very sad to see it closed for another season and sadly I don’t think it will ever open again as Lightwater Valley is now aimed at young children
