- This version of malkauns by Srimoti kishori Amonkar. was a live performance at itc sra, kolkata in 1981. It is full of meditative and contemplative mood signifying malkauns, i have hardly enjoyed any Malkauns like this one.
हृदय पिळवटून टाकणारा अनुभव. कदाचित ही संत कान्होपात्राची आळवणी असेल विठ्ठलाच्या पायरीवर बसून. कदाचित तुकारामाची शेवटची गाथा. कदाचित त्यागरायाची आळवणी जेंव्हा प्रत्यक्ष रामचंद्र दर्शनासाठी आले व तो त्यांना आत बोलवायचेही विसरून गेला. कदाचित गजेंद्र मोक्षाच्या वेळी केलेला धावा असेल.

Hard to imagine. The odds are higher of you listening to a Chikni Chameli or Dinchak Pooja instead in present day India!

The best and the most soothing Malkauns I ever heard. The reason? It is divine voice which takes birth in the form of human being only once every ten thousand years. 🙏🙏🙏🙏
This teaches philosophy. Somewhere there is god and he remains there omnipresent and omnipotent and gives his message through Kishoritai. Brings out everything that a female voice can. Nothing more can be more effective.

Incredible, brilliant, divine, unbelievable. This for me is one of her most stunning recordings available - in fact one of the most mind-blowing pieces of music I have heard in my life!! Thank you Tai for being there for all of us, for those years and years and years you have struggled to take your music to those heights so that people like us can get an experience of those heady heights. This recording does truly send me into a trance whenever I hear it. Her Malkauns has always been --- O My God!

The great Tai has explored the Raga to the Max (atlst of what I have heard by far) and has just squeezed out the complete Rasa of the Raag leaving the listener in a deep state of meditative trance...! If the myth behind this mystical Raga is believed then singing this Parvati would have surely succeeded in calming down the furious Tandav performing Shiva! God bless Tai for giving us this masterpiece... it's a meditative escape from the world around!
This malkauns is great but the best malkauns is sung by Pandit Rajan sajan ji.

As I listen to this rendering by Kishori Amonkar, it seems I float on the true essence of existence. The vacuums within, the senseless pursuit of emotional anchors, the sense of drift seem so unreal and are left far behind. As the tapestry of sound unfolds and envelopes my being, my caged spirit is freed. My emotional being finds an anchor. The raga soothingly reassures me there is a sublime meaning behind existence. Do not despair at its seeming senselessness ! My vacuums overflow...

I have very little understanding of Ragas. I bought an audio cassette of the late singer perhaps 15/20 years back containing few Bhajans and One Bhupali ' Sahela re...' and believe me since then I am one of her admirers among crores . This one is simply unbelievable. She will live for ever through her legendry creations. RIP

Way back in the 1960s/70s Kishoritai used to sing another khayal in Malkauns, the sthai of which, starting with a taar shadja went something like "Aada daataa anta, tu hi Ananta, tu hi dayaavanta, tu hi jagata karataara". An exquisite rendering. I would be grateful if someone can guide me to a recording of this that may be available on the internet
