Good concept, wrong use. Yes, I am very much in favor of the US Navy adopting a LST style ship. Despite my belief, I have stong beliefs about what it could or should be used for. A modern LST would not do itself well if it actually attacked a beach. Similar to LCU landing craft, LSTs are useful because of the sheer amount of material that they can haul onto a beach in a single run. A single LST could transport a massive amount of war fighting material from either amphibious assault ship or from a separate base. Add in the extra LCMs that it could carry, and. They would be insanely useful.
It's unrealistic , bcz 1 anti ship missile is enough to destroy the entire vessel , and do you seriously think that those fighter jets will be operated by fools just to fall for the ship's defence system ?? They can fire from hundreds of kilometres away.
I personally think LST isn’t designed to use that aggressively. In today’s anti surface warfare, attack planes shoots anti-ship missiles from far away than they did in this video. So as long as they try to use unguided bombs(which has very short range), there’s almost no chance for the LST to shoot down them(because I didn’t see any SAMs on the ship but close-in weapon systems). And LST doesn’t have weapons that’s powerful enough to clear the beach by itself. So, what I want to say is that they need the escort ships(such as destroyers, frigates etc) to defend the LST from enemy threats, and support the landing operation with its armaments. ...sorry for the long comment...

That moment when you're aproching an enemy base with a single landing ship but it's in ww2 style with concrete bunkers and un-accurate artillary, so you use your 40mm machine guns to blow up the concrete bunkers in 2 seconds and then you beach the giant landing ship wich costed millions of dollars.

Ehm what? That guns can fire on max. 3 kilometers, rockets are firing from distance 30-50 kilometers so why is helicopter and plane so near? Also modern torpedos are not using active sonar but pasive, active sonar is used by boats... logic guys, this is boat modern maybe in 20th century :D

Agree. I served on an LST in 1967, could not imagine her assaulting a beach. Coming in after the beach is secure but not before.
