I'm a retired Leo in ct now a senior and always had it in mind to transfer my gun collection (mostly handguns) to my kids, 1 retired cop. and 2 current. Let's see this should cost me a couple of thousand dollars.. ridiculous. If I die, what then? the state takes them. Ya know who I'm pissed at? Gun organizations like nra for allowing unconstitutional unrealistic, unreasonable laws to exist in the first place.

Online it says u dont need a permit to own a gun for home defense (kept inside home only) but u need a permit to buy one. How does that make sense? How can u get a pistol for that legal reason when its illegal to buy one without a permit? So lost
Quietly building two Americas. 29 states have constitutional carry now. Some of the other states make it very hard to even get a permit to carry. And the "assault weapon" bans make no sense but are very popular in the blue states. FFL on private sales. Some blue states even require FFL for muzzleloaders. Anyone want to try to explain that one? When's the last time someone robbed a bank with a muzzleloader? BTW, when we do need an FFL, here they are as cheap as $20. But we don't have an "assault weapons" ban, safe storage. We don't need an FFL for private transfers and we have constitutional carry. I bet our gun murder rate is less per 100,000 people than Connecticut. None of this has anything to do with crime. Law enforcement, politicians and rich people (but I repeat myself) are always essentially exempt.
25 dollars to 35 dollars for a transfer from a gun store. If it goes up and above that well you make your own decision on whether they’re ripping you off or not!!
The training requirement was rather confusing... I surmise they meant that everyone who went through safety training for thier pistol permits has to go through it again within the next 2 years.
No, once you have your permit you don't need to take the training again as long as you continue to renew. The certificates awarded in class now expire in two years, so if you didn't apply at your local PD withinn those first two years, you would need to take the class over again. Signed, the bald guy.

Can't wait to move to a free state
This is what happens when tyrants get elected into office to manny sheep not enough wolves
Thanks for the comprehensive talk on the new laws.

Uscca too as well as Springfield armory all pay lobbyists that go against the gun owners interest
It all makes such perfect sense to register a registered firearm. 🥴 😵💫
Great video. I might be moving to CT for work from MA later in 2024/2025. I hope there is some sort of period for new residents. Probably not.
Mind-boggling.
Thank you for doing this video! Absolutely subscribing!
TY Bob & Brian for this information!

Can you update for 2024 with another vid of what changed please
Assault weapon/ preban/other ban info 10:53-24:07
Great video guys! Quick question, so say a pistol certificate that is 3 years old, your saying they are now no good any more because of this law?
Careful with biometric safes. Recently they have failed and let anyone in. (Locksmith here)
The “NRA” name is used in the OPM’s explanation of the bill, the text of the bill states “instructors.”
The state knows that criminals don’t fill out forms, right?
What if you have lowers that have not yet been built?
Is there a website, form, or link where I can find a sample of the affidavit form? I misplaced my DPS-3.

Is a 22 cal considered in this type of paperwork?
Thanks so much....what a mess.
So with the 414-C, I take it that we include our thumb print but don't need a notary public signature?
Correct
i was told by the gun store i use that yes you do need it notarized, just FYI
@@elliottcarey6961 The newer 414-C's don't say that you do like the older ones, though.

Going to have to look for some PJ's with a holster?
What if you have lowers that aren’t built?
is there a sample for the affidavit we can sign and notarize if we don't have a DPS-3c?
Did you find the Sample of the Affidavit? I'm still looking myself there's quite a few different formats So I'm a bit unsure which to use

Frustrating because it keeps same it can't find my records in the system

Thanks for letting me know. CT still has the old form on web…. Typical!!
Are M&P 15-22’s now assault weapons? The legislature makes it so hard to understand.
I should add. Fixed stock CT legal 2021
No those aren't considered AWs so your good
@@johnch1p thank you!
Thanks for clearing that up.
I was wondering the same thing.
DO NOT COMPLY
can this be done via US mail or is it all electronic.?
You can do either but the deadline is the end of this month. I would suggest electronic.

I’m so confused.
Can you make a list of what we can buy in 2024 to stay in ct guildlines
As in a list of makes and models?
@lifesafetraining9590 I hear the others are now banned? What can we get as an alternative?

So does that mean recertification from NRA basic pistol safety every 2 years?
No, it means that the class certificate is only honored for two years. Once you have your permit, keep renewing.
God, I'm so glad I got the hell out of this communistic state.
