  • During WW2, the American manufacturing effort pulled together to mobilize for war in a way no other country has done before or since. Because of this, we see firearms from civilian manufacturers like GM, Rockola, and Remington Rand.

My best friend and training partner has a ‘43 Colt gifted to him by an elderly customer who served in Germany in WWII. Gave it to him a few days before he passed away.

Bought a Remington Rand at 15 for cheap. Carried and trained with it until I was 21 and could afford other stuff. It killed coyotes, snakes, and plenty of other pests. The small irons were definitely a bit of a struggle to get good with. Love that gun, always will.

That’s not just a WW2 1911a1, it was used in Korea, Vietnam, Panama, Grenada, Somalia, Desert Storm, and even the GWOT in the early years.

I’ve been contemplating getting one once I got the money saved up. Because this is the cheapest way for me to get an original 1911.

I have an early WWII era COLT, it's a mix though, the frame is 1942 and the slide is 1943.

A well taken care of 1911a1 army issued pistol is more accurate than most people believe. Really it comes down to the trigger pull and the sights that give them a bad reputation. We all know that the 1911 platform is extremely accurate if the barrel is locking up in the same place every shot.

I'm fortunate enough to have one of the Remington-Rand pistols from before the shutdown. Even still has the blued finish and wasn't rearsenaled. I took it out to shoot for the D-Day anniversary but now I think she's earned a rest. Time to just take care of her so the generation after us can appreciate her in the same way you and I would.

@1776_duck I bought one of those Colt 1911 SE’s that you suggested in a video with 1911 syndicate, but alchemy doesn’t offer custom work?
    What am I to do??

Not to be confused with the Remington R1 made in recent years- 😢

Great video, Eli (@1776_duck). Educational and entertaining as always. Big fan of this channel. Do you have any experience with Les Baer 1911s? I'd love to see you do a video (or two or three or...) on a few of those pistols.

Got me a Colt M1911 1914 vintage. It still shoot like the day it was made the trigger is terrible. BUT let’s think about this for a quick second. My specimen was made 3 years after the 1911 began production. My M1911 is a true model of what John Moses Browning originally designed. AND my M1911 was being used when JMB was still alive and kicking. I have a true peace of firearms history!!!! idc what anyone thinks or has to say about there 5000 dollar 1911 variation. My firearm IS the actual real deal American war machine. I can’t tell anyone what my firearm has seen or been involved in. Because I don’t have the capabilities to do extensive research. But I will say this it’s definitely bad a$$ to own it and wonder what it’s been involved in since it rolled out of Sam Colts factory.

have my grwandmas Singer sewing machine she used during WW2 before going to an ammo factory, so its basically the same as a Singer 1911.. right?

Probably more authentic than most of the 1911s presented as being "Singer 1911s" over the years by the counterfeiters
