Elder Mediation

A demonstration of the mediation process. The video depicts an elder father and his adult children. The three of them disagree about how best to care for Dad. Created in collaboration with the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

This is so sad. I get both daughters concerns. But it’s frustrating hearing the daughter who isn’t there everyday judge and the other daughter is who actually there every single day! I have zero judgments about the one daughter not being as involved but the second she judges without actually knowing the full story is frustrating. I totally empathize with the father. Getting old sucks… giving up certain independence sucks but sometimes you just need help!

This is not a good example of a skilled mediator. Great acting by the parties, though!

I feel so bad for the caregiver sister. No one shows gratitude. Just name calling. Why is the mediator allowing this?
