It's strongly implied by the end of the season that Malvo is Lucifer incarnate. Besides that line, there is a reference to snakes, Malvo's temptation of Lester as if he is offering him the apple, the Biblical events, and the symbolism of the wolf, and Malvo's almost (?) supernatural ability to escape harm. There's even a shot of Malvo after he kills everyone in the elevator of blood sprayed out behind him like wings. As for whacking nobodies in a small town, why not? He just likes fucking with people, and if you're one of those nobodies, it sure doesn't feel to you
@@squamish4244 why are u fuckin spoiling the season on a episode 1 review I hate clowns like you like are y seriuis Man U can’t be considerate of others?
@@Benjii2k just a tip: for any show that has aired and you haven't seen all the eps, don't engage w any media of it online until you're finished watching it. The show came out back in 2014. People are allowed to discuss it openly. You should have avoided looking this up until you were done w the season.
Learnt about this last night, amazing, I loved Fargo and I love Martin Freeman so hell, awesome. Its gonna be annoying trying to watch it from England though.
themaypole haha... that's brilliant., so why do you love Martin Freeman? From watching tv im guessing. You can stream it online just now if you don't want to wait till Sunday.
I live near Bemidji, and my brother went to school there. It's actually pronounced beh-midji, not bee-midji. Is that how they say it in the show? I haven't watched it yet, but I plan to!
You guys didn't even mention Bob Odenkirk ... I'm most interested to see what his character does ... you don't bring an actor of his status in to have just the few lines he said ... I'm expecting him to have a major role in future episodes.
I loved the pilot!! Very well done!!!! And I didn't think they talk funny. But english is not my mother tongue so I don't think I can say a thing about it. Look foward to the show :)
Tv series of movies rarely works. Maybe if you haven't seen the film they might work. I have though and there is no replacing Buscemi. It's just gonna fall short without no matter what.
Indigocell Well there's La femme Nikita, highlander, Stargate, Ferris Bueller and more recently Agents of shield, which i don't care how big a fanboy someone might be, it's still just a weak version of the movies.
Well the Stargate series spawned a lot of shows that were successful in their own right, for the most part anyway. I don't really consider Agents of Shield to be a TV adaptation of a movie, more like a spin-off. Highlander was pretty terrible, and so was Nikita. However, the films weren't all that great either. Certainly nowhere near as popular or successful as Fargo was. I think it remains to be seen whether this adaptation will be terrible or not. So far it's pretty good. While we don't get Steve Buscemi, we do get some very dark comedy and that is all I'm looking for in this.
Indigocell Stargate was an awful th shows. I don't care how succesfull it was, it's still just a cheesy version of the movie. And you wanna call Agents of shield a spin-off, then be that big of a fanboy, but same characters as the movie and same alternativ univers. It's a show based on a movie, that doesn't have the same quality to it.
I liked it, I'll keep watching it, but, I do find the accents a bit distracting, which was not the case for me with the movie, so, I don't know what that's about.
Solarstar10 From some video I saw of some reviewer who saw more than the first episode apparently his accent gets better after the first episode...still a good show so far I think
I think the only reason Martin's accent is so distracting is because he's never really had to do one before, so to finally hear it is just jarring. Somebody said it gets better as it goes on, but I think that was just a case of getting used to it. I mean I rewatched the first two episodes with a friend this week and I barely even registered it.
Dan Brennan Yeah, It's Martin Freeman that's especially distracting, and it probably is just because I'm so used to his regular voice. I think it did bother me in the movie somewhat, but it wasn't distracting, I just found it to be a major part of the atmosphere of the movie and it was entirely new to me, so I think here it bothers me because it sounds like an imitation of the movie instead of a representation of a regional accent. simply because I've never heard it in any other context. But, whatever, I'm sure I'll get used to it.
I visited Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota and I definitely heard that unique accent of yours. Many people there denied that they had accents when I would tell them and said that I had an accent (I'm from SoCal). The point is, our accents are noticeable to people who aren't from your region.
...the moment Billy bob Thornton's character dissapeared from the basement, I thought to myself,"so, he is the devil".
herpderpmonkey Idk man, in the diner when he's talking to Lou he says "I haven't had a slice of apple pie like that since the Garden of Eden."
ColombianThunder So Lucifer is whacking nobodies in a small town in the winter? Damn, he sure has fallen.

All these years later, I'm still impressed by how seriously Billy Bob Thornton takes the situation presented to is in Armageddon.
..and starring Billy Bob Thorton as Nyarlathotep.
Amazing premiere. great show. loved the episode
Malvo's ability to manipulate others to murder their family & neighbors, brings to mind Leland Gaunt from Needful Things.
+Brian Green exactly what i thought
Learnt about this last night, amazing, I loved Fargo and I love Martin Freeman so hell, awesome. Its gonna be annoying trying to watch it from England though.
Are you serious bro? Its on channel 4, they advertise it during every ad break.
I don't watch TV
themaypole haha... that's brilliant., so why do you love Martin Freeman? From watching tv im guessing. You can stream it online just now if you don't want to wait till Sunday.
From watching The Office DVDs since I was a kid and later Hitchhiker's Guide DVD, The Good Night, Sherlock Blu Rays, Hobbit at the cinemas, etc.
themaypole its called 40D, watch fargo on there..
Great episode. Looks like it will be more interesting than True Detective. Finally you guys are reviewing a show I watch!
Review for ep 2 not up yet??
Hannibal. Bates Motel. Now Fargo. Who would have guessed that there would be three great television shows based on movies?
@What the flck Are you gonna review episode 2
Ooooh,it's a mini-series, which makes sense why Martin Freeman appears. Hilarious installment.Looking forward to where this tale takes us.
I know nothing about this series only seen one trailer but it gave off a bit of a Twin Peaks vibe to me am I along the right lines?
the scene with colin hank was awesome, that's how you talk your way out of a ticket
im loving this show and im glad i let there be a few episodes to catch up on before i started watching. i hate waiting a week for it
They should review Continuum. It may be too late in the series. But it would be really cool if they did it.
Evan Smith SYFY
Evan Smith Ya it is a really good show. Right now it had a head start in Canada and you can watch seasons 1&2 on Netflix.
Yes!we do have Novelas/Soap Operas in the U.S haven't you watch Spanish TV networks like Telemundo,Univision,etc.. they are base here in the states.
i just feel like i will know exactly hats going to happen because it seems to follow all the major points of the movie
I'm enjoying reading all these old comments thinking this show was gonna bomb, when it turned out to be absolutely fantastic.
They say Bemidji wrong. It's more like "buh-mi-gee". The i in the middle is not pronounced "ee".
Actually 10 episodes so sweet like game of thrones, bates motel & from dusk til dawn length
I live near Bemidji, and my brother went to school there. It's actually pronounced beh-midji, not bee-midji. Is that how they say it in the show? I haven't watched it yet, but I plan to!
Yes they mispronunce Bemidji in the show im from Sauk Rapids, Minnesota so it bugged me lol you should watch it it is amazing
no it bə-MIJ-ee technically or bah-mid-jee.... GO BEVERS
You guys didn't even mention Bob Odenkirk ... I'm most interested to see what his character does ... you don't bring an actor of his status in to have just the few lines he said ... I'm expecting him to have a major role in future episodes.
Didn’t age well
STILL no review of episode 2 :-(
I'm Minnesotan. It's pronounced Beh-mih-gee... Emphasis on the first syllable, rather than the second.
Yup. Also, we don't all talk like that. Infact, most of us don't.
Oh thank god. I thought I was going to have to watch Afterbuzz TV.
the cast is great
loved the first show!
I loved the pilot!! Very well done!!!!
And I didn't think they talk funny. But english is not my mother tongue so I don't think I can say a thing about it.
Look foward to the show :)

Do you have an example of a movie adapted to a tv series that didn't work? I'm not familiar with any.
Indigocell Well there's La femme Nikita, highlander, Stargate, Ferris Bueller and more recently Agents of shield, which i don't care how big a fanboy someone might be, it's still just a weak version of the movies.

***** Sure it was, because you decide that right?
I liked it, I'll keep watching it, but, I do find the accents a bit distracting, which was not the case for me with the movie, so, I don't know what that's about.
Totally agree, everybody was great but Martin Freeman's accent felt really distracting. I think he should have kept his normal accent.
Solarstar10
From some video I saw of some reviewer who saw more than the first episode apparently his accent gets better after the first episode...still a good show so far I think

Good review.

its Bem-id-gee. You say the "id" sound the same way you'd say window. The name is native american in origin.

Mrs. Dana Duralde. Dana Smooth-Duralde. DS Duralde. Hmm..
Guy on the left looks like George RR Martin
Bils Gurung WTF
I couldn't make it through EP 2.
Alonso prefers this over the movie? Credibility gone
What's up with that shirt. It's creepy..
