This car is back in Coventry now ,I bought it in London and am working on it weekly, It will be resprayed soon along with lots of other small improvements,
Owned a 77' and used her as my daily driver for 6 years while living on the North Coast of Ohio (US).... the winter months made for some interesting driving.
My older brother had a 67 Spitfire in NE Ohio. Soon after he purchased it, off he went to good ole Viet Nam. I was 15 years old, but he told me before he left to take it out for a drive ocasionaly to keep things in tune. I would rip roar around town when my parents would leave for awhile. What a great time in my life. When he came home, it became know to have a bad axle, but we could not find one, so he sold it to get a new crappy American car.
In the early eighties i wanted a Spitfire as my first car, but only had £1k to spend and all the cars i looked at were rot boxes. Ended up saving a bit more cash and bought a 76 TR7.
I had a '71 Mk IV too. In the US the 1500 had a load of pollution crap on it, so it actually generated a bit less HP than the 1300 Mk IV. I loved that car, but then got married. The x-wife made me sell it...yes...x-wife.

Typical Brewer, he said Ed “stripped the whole engine down”… which is not true. Only the head was removed.
The engine has now been rebuilt Coventry classic engines

FROM 73 TO 80.

It seems like Mike never gets the money that he says he’s going to get, at the sale of the vehicle.
Curiously, the car seems to swap from left-hand drive to a right-hand drive. Hmm.
