Perfect timing! I need to go harvest a LOT of garlic scapes at some point this week. -Cara
Never thought about pickling garlic scapes! Great video 😊
We can only grow soft necks down here in Florida. Wish I could try this as I know people all claim they are so good. I did cut up a nice fresh red onion and put it in a quick pickle to eat over stir fried whatever was fresh from the garden but not enough to make a side dish. Turns out I love trombocino squash and the plants are very prolific. Trying new veg can be fun. I've also heard that some people like the seed pods from radishes more than the radish. That I didn't try but will next harvest. Tried Hammerhead spinach for the first time and turns out it is the best green of all time for me. I did try snails in garlic butter once. Even though the garlic butter was very delicious, I couldn't chew on the snail - that got tossed before I swallowed. My favorite way to have snails is to squish and toss them. They eat the sweet tip of a strawberry each time I let one ripen. Gave them beer but they rejected it for the berries!
Can you do this with the soft neck garlic leaves?
Great question......Soft neck varieties actually don't produce a scape. I have never tried with the leaves of softneck, though. In my experience, not much compares to the scape.
