While I feel some folks are worrying too soon about whether or not Snufmin is the endgame ship for the series, I will say that if the “Moominvalley” team decides to not acknowledge the subtext in the show in some way I’m going to be more than just disappointed in them, especially since they’re working with an openly queer woman’s characters and stories. 😞

I think it would be awesome if snufmin ended up canon, but even though tove was into girls, snufkin was based off of one of her exes. since moomin was based off of tove herself, and snufkin off an ex, then i'd understand why the crew wouldn't want it to be canon. maybe it's a respect thing, that might be the reason they would stop it being canon. although i did see a video of the cast and crew discussing snufkin and moomin's relationship, so i don't know what they're gonna do with it all.
yip yip There’s no “if” about Tove being romantically involved with women: she was life partners with Tuulikki Pietilä, the inspiration for the character Too-Ticky, and was also in a relationship with Vivica Bandler (plus there’s even a personal quote from Tove on the official Moomins website stating that she loved women and men).
@@Harukurochan I know that, what I meant was that even though Tove was into the same gender, the crew for moominvalley still might not make snufmin canon. If they decide not to, I'd understand why as moomintroll was based a bit off of tove and snufkin off one of her exes.

ok i wanna bring up that when i was first getting into this show i only knew what the characters were like from watching a few episodes of the 1990 show (so i basically got their main things down that get continued in most versions) and when i watched this episode i paid the most attention to the lyrics and dude its literally the perfect song for the snufmin ship some examples of lyrics that really tell me this:
"Just promise me this, that you'll give me all your kisses
Every winter, every summer, every fall" the most important part in my point with this lyric is this line:
"Every winter, every summer, every fall" okay we all know that a big big big thing in snufkins and moomins relationship is the seasons, moomin longs and waits for him to arrive in spring every year and then snufkin leaves in the winter which makes moomin a bit sad so its a big thing in the relationship and kinda the entire show, so what im getting at is that the lyric fits more in with the two characters whose relationship focuses more on the seasons than snufkin and a dragon he just really met.
then we get to :
"When we are far apart or when you're near me
Love me with all of your heart as I love you"
i think the first line is self explanatory to this, now the second line is kinda a stretch for me to make but imma try, its obvious moomin has some sort of feeling of love for snufkin (he literally ignores his girlfriend for this boy and even accidentally calls her by snufkins name but there are also a few very few times where he may seem to care for her more than he cares for snufkin so imma put his feelings for snufkin around the same or a teeny bit more as his love for snorkmaiden, i could also bring up this little line from an interview with one of the voice actors for misabel which totally explains this point easily "moomintroll will like snufkin more than he likes snorkmaiden and then sometimes he likes more about snorkmaiden "
so i can say moomin does feel a sort of love for snufkin so do what you will with this

Tl;Dr: I connect with this song (in a negative way) and snufkin's character in general.
Man this makes my heart hurt. I have really bad attachment issues stemming from abuse in my younger years, my last relationship lasted for 3 years until I couldn't take the pressure and ended up leaving them. I was going through a lot at the time but there was no excuse for it. I still love them, as I love everyone I've been with, and they're one of my best friends (but i keep unconsciously pushing them away, so I doubt it will stay that way.). I'm just sorry I couldn't be what they wanted me to be. I don't idolize snufkin's character, but I do feel like I understand it and I pity him really. I get really lonely at times but the thought of commitment terrifies me.
I even relate to him when he gives up the woodies, it's pitiful. My sister went through a lot and I've ended up taking care of her children for the past two years. She's getting settled again and plans to move them across country, which pains me a lot. I have no real reason to argue with her and I'm glad they're going back with their mom so I'm not entirely sure why I'm sad. I never liked or planned on having children in the first place. It's all confusing honestly.

It's hard to explain. It had moomin and snufkin at the same time (it wasn't romantic at all, but that was enough for literally all the comments being "snufmin is official!1!1!1!").
But Snufmim is official, it only takes reading the comics to find that out. Its not subtext, it's made clear

man, the moomin franchise means so much to me as a whole. my dad introduced me to it when i was really young, and i grew up with it. i stopped seeing him when i was around 10, which was quite hard for me to deal with, and the thing i always came back to as comfort was moomin. i'm so happy to see that the fandom has grown, and that the franchise is finally beginning to get the recognition it deserves. i still have nearly all of the original books in my room. i just love it so much. the characters, their relationships, the stories of they adventures in moominvalley. the new series is easily my favourite. especially with the soundtrack. thank you tove.

@@Geniscan Yes the song was meant for the dragon but in the episode where Snufkin wanted Moomintroll to let the dragon go and not keep it as a pet Moomintroll did but like right after that Moomintroll went back to Snufkin to wanting him to stay longer and longer in Moominvalley even though Snufkin explained before why he couldn’t keep the dragon as a pet. I suggest you to look into the series farther than the 2019 version. Yes he can like Snorkmaiden but don’t ignore that he could possibly like both they talk about this in an interview with the creators.

@@isaacisaac1130 usually I would agree with this statement but Moomin is based off of the creator Tove Jansson and Snufkin is based on her fiancé. They were intended to be in a relationship but during the time period that the books came out being gay wasn’t accepted. It’s also confirmed by the show’s creators that Moomin likes Snufkin more than Snork Maiden. But in all honesty, who cares what people ship? It’s only a cartoon.

In the older one they seemed like good friends, but in the 2019 one I feel like they kinda shifted their relationship. I watched a video about the director's and other staff talking about the show saying something about one of them learning about their own feelings. Like they said a lot hinting toward their relationship with each other, but idk. I think it's cute but I wouldn't call it canon since its seems like all new. Also snorkmaiden is suppose to be his mate, but in the new one he doesnt really seem to care about her as much as he does with snufkin.
