In my experience, long wide-leg trousers work with coats if you do some tweaks to balance the proportions. It can be a combination of things like wearing a slimmer fitting short or medium length coat, cinching the waist with a belt, tucking your jumper just a bit to show the waist-line, wearing pointed toe shoes/heels, shoes in the same colour as your trousers to elongate the legs. The key is to not have excess fabric on any part of the outfit, as the video says.
While I generally agree w/Natasha, I would also add, that as long as you have a cropped, or fitted &/or tucked-in top, you can wear most lengths of coats w/your full length wide-leg trousers. While I think a cropped-style coat/jacket always looks chic w/wide legs, I also think the cut of he trousers can guide you. If you're wearing exaggeratedly wide straight-legs, or ones that have an almost ballgown-skirt shape to them, I think a full-length coat that is either the same length as the trousers, or that hits just above floor-length, is striking. It's also an interesting & unexpected option for a dressier occasion, esp. one for which you need to be dressed warmly. If the trousers are flared/bell shaped, I think a coat that hits you slightly above where the trousers start flaring, or that is floor length, is best. You don't want to be wearing flared trousers, w/a coat that flares, that both end at the same length. Your outfit will look off balanced & bottom heavy.
I came here to say the same thing. I don’t think the shoes went with the trousers anyway and wondered if you changed the shoes and wore a lighter jacket if it would make a difference?
Love yourrrr outfits Lydia. Just a small thing though, there’s been a fashion overhaul with gen z taking over as the new style setters. Baggy fits have become the new norm. I think that’s why a lot of young people have been commenting over and’ over about loose fits being better. It doesn’t change the fact that your style is insanely good, but it would be really helpful to incorporate the changing generational style if you want to 🥺
Genz are going for y2k trends. In the 2000's late 90's very loose trousers were super in, but even then they were designed for quite a younger audience ( you can se them in old TV series like Dawson creek or dark angel or something haha all featuring tenagers) it's trendy but not designed for women above their 27 ofc they can wear them but if people want to go for a smarter look they wouldn't go for that. I find lidya's channel features quite an elegant smarter type of look. ( sorry for the long text 😅)
