I think he is a very good drummer and musician, he is very good playing and of course on time, but i know some drummers that make clinics and play his musics with metronome, this could be the case, but i really dont know. Well, the point is that he is a monster, he is amazing with playalones and live musicians.
The secret is practice so much the song with a click track (metronome) then performing the song including some imrpovisation is so much easy, specially because of counting the meassures ...
EvilAlbear nope, just my comment.. Because that's what all the great drummers do. In one video I saw he mentioned to always count out loud when drumming (he provided an example with a "chit" sound), so I think that's what he's done to internalize the tempo.
Hahahaha, am fan of other kind of cymbals too. Benny use dark and trashy cymbals that i will never use, but for his style of playing and music i think it's works fine.
Yeah, I love Benny, but that 18" crash sounds like a you're hitting a trash can. 😂 It's not the cymbal though, but the stack he made. I think there's a china under it. His signature Sand cymbals actually sound pretty good.
I've never seen a Benny Greb video that didn't leave me smiling. What an awesome player and we are lucky to have him.
