Elden Ring is going to be GOTY for the next 5 years for me :)
Eldin ring is a fresh design built on a well established gameplay loop that fromsoft has been working on for years. It is a very hard game to top. Lately my favorite game is always fromsofts newest souls like. The gameplay is just so smooth.
Elden Ring is the dream my Dragon's Dogma character has while sleeping at the campfire. He wakes up, puts a beast steak on the grill, and says "i dreamed last night of a place blackened and fiery like the depths of Hell...i slew a great black bird under the gaze of a giant golden tree"
😂
Elden's the GOAT and we all know it, but man, there's something about DD2 that's so brutal but janky in a loveable way? ALL the fights are group fights but the physics engine makes all the chaos so weighty and cool. Anyway, I think Capcom didn't fully believe in DD2 so Itsuno made the best janky-brutal-remake of his first janky brutal open world and it was finally a real hit. It was a hit because It knew what it was and what it did well and he fucking went for it. And so, I can't wait for DD3 when I think they'll really have the money and the scope to refine refine refine and expand expand expand. Also, no one does lighting like re:engine, and seeing an open world in this? Damn.
It's like comparing fastfood vs restaurant.
DD2 is great but it's not even remotely close to Elden Ring in terms of scope and executionl. But, that isn't really important because both games do not need comparing. Both are awesome and/or great on their own.
If someone wants one game to buy and have two options it makes sense to compare …
I enjoyed DD2 more, but objectively I think Elden Ring is a better game for a number of reasons. I really dont like souls games, never been a fan, and Elden Ring was even a 9/10 for me, the story and the exploration of the world, and how much there is to do IF you are willing was insane. I mean, there is these moment you just stare at the distant world and it looks like a painting, and normally in games it would be "backrounds" but in Elden Ring you can go there, you really can. It is hard to fathom. Now if you are a fan of that combat- I am now- then hands down I get why elden ring is a better game for most people, and sold like 5 times as much. With all that said, I dont ever wanna go back to Elden Ring, or the expansion while DD2 I would happily get an expansion. I just doesnt wanna put myself through that gameplay in Elden Ring again, or playing the same boss 2-3 hours to beat, it isnt for me. But I cant ignore the fact that if DD2 was in Elden Rings world, it would have been 10/10.
Bingo u need to combine both games to get 10/10
I have enjoyed dragon dogma more for some weird reason it was more schill after work and more guided and the combat I felt it was superior Elden ring world is way better but Elden ring main issue you focus the whole game on powering up that you miss the whole story and the quests all u care about is powering up and ruined the experience of enjoying the world
Short answer: No.
Long answer: No, it is not.
Its Elden Ring. Thats not a slight on Dragon's Dogma 2, it is a very good game but DD2 has so many minor annoyances that add up over time and drag down the whole experience. Not to mention, Elden Ring just has so much more in terms of Environmental detail, enemy diversity and actual challenge..
Eh ...elden ring is also extremely boring alot of the time. I mean it's a great game, far from perfect
Elden Ring is Beserk Dragons Dogma 2 Is Jason And The Argonauts
My ps5 has been solid since day 1 in dragon's dogma 2. I don't know why people have so many problems with ps5... I don't at all
Good video ! Made alot of good points.
I agree that Elden Ring would be the winner in that comparison… But my personal criteria would make them even in most of the categories, because some aspects are present in one and not in the other, and both are to my liking. Just for a simple example (and not the best one) in the weapon variety aspect, the variation of weapons really make ER shine in the compositions and tactics possible. In the other hand, in DD2 the variety of combinations of skills can generate in the same vocation so many different playstyles for the same weapon use, which is a completely different approach from Elden Ring where, yes, you can equip different types of bows and each one will have specific characteristics but at the end all of them will resume into 2 (max 3) styles of an archer gameplay. For me, Elden Ring and Dragon’s Dogma share a lot of similarities, but are the differences that make them complementary. I can not emulate the feeling of playing DD2 by playing ER, and vice-versa. And, at the end, I need them both feelings.
The result might seem obvious, but thanks for taking an objective look at comparing these games. Its fun to look back at these games anyway!
I got dragons dogma 2 the day it came out I’ve only got maybe 5 hrs into it
I'm 40+ hrs in & been absolutely loving my experience.. I hope you continue to enjoy the game a lot.
@@sikevillian I’m hoping I can get time to actually play it I was waiting till the patches after the initial release but hoping soon I can get back into it
@@AdamEmerson1420 nice I hope you do too! I picked it up almost a month after it released and it had like 4 patches before I got it on PS5.. my experience has been pretty smooth.. 😁
Dragons dogma 2 world is more lively. More story driven that alters the environment. Deagons dogma 2 is GOTY for me. Elder ring had their year already. Dlc will be dlc and dd2 has a dlc on the way.
Having played both, i absolutely love each game in its own way respectfully and cant decide between them really. Both have giving me that enthralling addictive feeling of combat & exploration that has me staying up way too late as a adult.. sure both do things a bit differently & some aspects are better but i truly love both.. cant wait for that Elden ring dlc and upcoming DD2 dlc would be keen. 🔥
Right now, DD2 isn't even better than DA-DD1. Elden Ring is a long ways off over the horizon, I'm afraid. I have maybe 100 hrs in DD2, and I have enjoyed it, but it's flawed in all of the ways that DD1 was without the quirks and depth that gave the first game its charm. I'm hopeful that an expansion can bring DD2 up to DA-DD1 levels, but it's not there right now.
Thank you for your honesty. You sold me on holding off on DD2. I’ll continue my month & a half long journey through the lands in between about to fight Mr. Fire giant!
eh i love both its where my created character is from only really care for boss fights and combat in both and since ima magic build it turns both in anime’s ngl only thing i was disappointed in was no multiplayer for dragons dogma 2 hopefully on pc theyll have a mod for that
Perhaps "Tech Dive" for the first section?
DD 2 should have been released as a demo.
Not a fair comparison. Elden ring is more vast but dragon's dogma 2 has better game play. Simple.
They're both great in their own way but obviously the clear winner is Elden Ring even though im more of a DD1 and 2 fan
Did dude just say take the npc out, a realistic medieval world with no people, how the hell
This can't be real.
No need for a video honestly. I wouldn't compare these but if you must.
I love both, am playing DD2 more right now,the character creation is about one of the few better things outright.
Character Creation.
Night time (Like as in its dark and enemies actually change).
Maybe graphic fidelity (Art style still goes to ER)
However Elden Ring is undisputably the higher quality product.
It’s Elden ring obviously. But I love dd2 a lot more. It’s more rewarding 2 me.
I wish it was DD2. Fabulous game that could have been soooo much better. DD2 had a crazy fun factor but.... No real ng+ or reason to keep playing. Game gets too easy as you level up, and zero of the Elden Ring epic boss flights
I feel the same, never been a FROM stan despite enjoying most of their games. I really expected a lot from DD2 but it was an utter disappointment.
@@jennyrebecca4daysold I actually Loved DD2. I wish it had the previously listed items so I could keep playing.
Elden Ring is in a whole different universe
I spent like 130 hours on dragons dogma 2 in the span of a month, platinumed it and did several playthroughs, I very much enjoyed that game and yet when I read this title my immediate answer was FUCK NO 💀 emphasis on the F, it’s really not close.
Neat.
The combat on dd2 is so much better the mechanics is so much better but yes the variety is not there but so many different combos. Dd2 is exploring and combat but elder ring in my opinion has everything else.
DD2 combat is a joke, it might look cool and fun on the surface but it has no difficulty or timing required. In Elden Ring you have to pay attention to the boss and time your dodges carefully, it's a dance and when you get into the flow it's amazing (like all FROM games, specially Sekiro). But in DD2 the bosses are essentially punching bags you can just attack non stop without a care.
It's like the difference between fightning a kung fu master vs a sack of sand.
@@SeekNeoyes, and some enemies from DD2 don't even actively try to hit or kill you, the last bosses didn't even try to hit me other than using magic, it was quite shallow and pathetic.
@@SeekNeohow skilled are u at the game? ive seen clips online which proves this comment about combat being a joke is cap, especially compared to elden ring lmaoo elden ring has nice combat but to say its better than dd2 is cap asf
@@capolean2902u didnt play the game tho so why give ur opinion?
@@KimKerjean i beat elden ring 4 times on ps4 and dd2 2 times on ps5 i played both bro
Dragon Dogma is new, of course it has more flaws. Elden Ring is the accumulation of FromSoft's masterpieces from Demon Souls, Dark Souls, Dark Souls 2, Dark Souls 3, Bloodborne, Sekiro into one game.
Both are the best action RPGs in my book.
In future, Dragon Dogma also can potentially surpass FromSoft's combat mechanic with the help of the Monster Hunter team.
I agree with this.
Dragon's Dogma 2s various systems (combat, pawn, character customization, no fast travel, vocation flexibility etc.) work amazingly well, for the most part. Next time around, if Capcom go with what works, addresses what doesn't, and are more ambitious with the game's scope, I really believe we're looking at the form that could well define the next generation of (J)RPGs the same way Dark Souls has done the past 13+ years.
For me, DD2 is more fun
Imo art style rules and I think elden ring did a better job there
First category u gave DD2 LOL HAHA 🤣
Dragons Dogma 2 has some incredible organic gameplay moments that matches elden ring but the vast annoyances, shitty story, bare bone enemy variety really drag it down after 25hrs. Elden ring has its problems too but Elden Ring is vastly better
40 hrs into DD2 I stopped playing cause gameplay loop and exploration became boring imo, back on a fresh ER playthru
I spend over 400h in Elden Ring.
I refunded Dragon's Dogma 2 after 1h
Bro sucks at the game
I personally like dd2 more. But I would agree it is about 80% of the way to bring a game of the year contender
Elden ring laps DD2 in all bot how the combat feels
DD launched poorly and though the game will get updates it won't fix the damage that they did by rushing it out DD3 might be good but DD# will be what DD2 should ave been any add ons they add to DD@ will be what DD2 should have been at launch.
They promised so much with DD@ for it to be delivered in it's current state.
that characters will all look different then did not add armor dyes and then most armors have class requirements stuffs we see is useless with the warfarer vocation. most armors are recycled from the original game so they were not above recyling assets and still they didn't add more monsters or more animations to the game.
elden ring devs said nothing of the game we all knew it was going to be good Itsuno got up there and lied left and right and then they deliver a half cooked game in the end, it's just so shameful.
Elden Ring is deeper but not as fun as DD2. Elden Ring to me feels like challenge fun, which is much different than emersion fun like DD2.
Dd2 combat is superior the rest goes to elder ring
Elden Ring is one of the best games ever made and DD2 is a 7/10 AA game that costs as much as a AAA game.
More like 5/10
Seriously? I like DD2 much better than Elden Ring. Shit wasn't even fun. I felt like I was doing taxes or waiting in line at the DMV.
capcom is triple a wym?
Elden ring monsters look ridiculous. That game is not for me. I choose DD1 and 2.
I was expecting this to be a debate, but I was bored with DD2 before I hit 20 hours. Elden Rings graphics, art design enemy design, enemy variety, open world design combat, weapons, armor is all the best I have ever seen. DD2 didn't do anything at a very high level. Elden Ring and BG3 are in different categories. DD2 isn't near those games in my opinion.
I like DD2 more in every way you've mentioned.
elden ring has shit graphics but art design is sum else
I hope this is a joke
Why?
Because dragon's dogma is not in elden rings league
@@JamesBrown-xb7yi
I prefer dragons dogma 2 over elden rings.
Believe it or not everyone likes different things for different reason bro 👍
@@BOREDFUI’m with you. I got bored of ER after 600 hours. I’m over 800 hours on DD2. It’s a smaller world but semi-random enemy spawns make it more fun to replay as you master each vocation. ER is identical on each grace reset. Boring after time.
@@rambull_how are u having fun after 800 hours u should be drastically overleved for literally every enemy nd have most items if not all. If u like runnin around with no purpose one shotting mob I guess I see ur point but still it doesnt make dd2 better
I have 300 hours in elden ring and 200 in dd2...dd2 Is fun but seriously lack challenge and more content.
Elden Ring would be the stronger title.
ERs presentation is excellent, and it's mammoth ambition and scale following it's predecessor Dark Souls titles is executed well (I still can't believe ER exists).
That said, I honestly much preferred _playing_ Dragon Dogma 2 than I did Elden Ring, as in a game where every enemy can 1-hit kill you, and with almost 240 bosses, ER was too large and too exhausting to attempt to 100%. Additionally, I'll add that I think Dragon's Dogma has some serious potential to it's mechanics and various systems (character customization, pawn, combat, no fast travel, vocation etc.)... DD-DA already had cult status, and while Capcom missed the mark with greater ambition to DD2 this time around, if they go all out in subsequent series entries we could well be looking at an RPG form that defines the next generation of RPGs much the same way Dark Souls has for over the past decade.
In the end though, both Dragon's Dogma 2 and Elden Ring are great games.
Please...
Lol! I really like dragons dogma 2. But what the fuck? Elden ring is way WAY better then DD2. It's not even close. The story alone way better, the weapons! World! Lore, build variety, combat! Boss fields . The bosses are terrible in DD2 compared to elden ring . Lol terrible video title . That made me almost throw up .
Boss fights! Auto correct.. after u hit level 40 in DD2 or even before the game is way to easy, also the boss, enemies all play out very similar. There just isn't enough variety in DD2 .
Surely this debate is satirical. Surely.
This whole video is kinda stupid, it’s like comparing magic the gathering with Dungeons and dragons two completely different games with two different fans
No
DD2 is extremely mid. It's an absolute joke comparing it to ER, they're in a completely different league.
No it isn’t, video over
Dd2 for me is really close to my play style. I like to explore but while doing quests. And the difficulty is normal for me. I don’t need to die like 10 times in one minute. I admit that Elden ring is way better In boss creation and not graphics but it’s too difficult and empty at the same time for me.
People are missing the story of DD2. The pre-endgame story is scripted and supposed to feel forced by God forcing his narrative. The player takes that narrative in the endgame and that is where Arison gets to be the storyteller.
yep... still a very lame way to justify the fact that the story telling and quests completly suck. Seriously I don't know of any other game doing it just as bad as dragon's dogma. The gameplay is really good, that's what this game got, but that's it. And even then, I actually think it was much better in the first one. They made excuse that they didn't have budget to finish properly the first opus, DD2 was supposed to be what the director truly envisioned, but in the end they just remade a game with the exact same issues, and even took a step backward on the gameplay like by removing double jump, lowering the number of special attack slots, and so much more. I still enjoyed it, but it is defitly a huge desappointment considering that it has all the basics to be a really great game, but they only went for "ok, could be worse"
@@DanteAngelito be fair it was the same way in ddda the story wasn’t the best but only combat and boss fights is where it reigned supreme and bitter black isle
@@capolean2902 yes i agree, but DD2 feels like a big step backward in every way appart from graphics and pawn A.I, they already had a great gameplay, what I think most poeple wanted was some good quests to go with it, just this time they don't have any budget excuse like the first one. there's less to do in the second one, the enemies are mostly the same, the equipment are mostly the same too, and the quest really feel like they couldn't be bothered to even try to make them interesting. A 4 years old kid would do a better job at story writing. Feels just as unfinished as the first one.
It 50/50 for me. if dd2 had mounts i 100% say dd2
Ha ha ha no it's not😂
This is stupid
DD2 is a garbage mess
DD2 feels so bland and uninspired. 4 instead of 6 skillslots and no weaponswapping makes creating fun builds with a little variety impossible.
In 100 hours I killed 1000's of goblins and equal fodder. Yet the monsters, which are only 5 or 6 variants, I can almost count on 2 hands.
I cannot fathom the dev teams of Monsterhunter and DMC created such a husk of a sequel.
Elden Ring at first was too massive for me. I prefer the corridorstructure of Bloodborne and previous Souls titles. But the bestiary is massive and the buildvariety aswell.
So DD2 should have put more emphasis on bestiary and build/combat/gear systems instead of hiding seekertokens and other useless crap across the world 😅
Rubbish
*seeing as Elden Ring has the stiffest controls for an open world game I've ever experienced, DD2 wins by default* 👍
That’s ironic considering how clunky dd2 is🤣
@@glockjngr6480 *I haven't even played DD2 but I'm VERY SURE its nowhere near as stiff and unresponsive as ER* 💀
@@ThousandairesClub maybe your controller sucks
Tell me you didn't ride Torrent without actually telling me you didn't ride Torrent. The actual first time I felt like mounted combat felt even remotely fluid in a game was Elden Ring.
to me they are not really comparable. I did love Elden Ring for many reasons, but indeed the gameplay is too stiff, slow and heavy, whereas DD is just great. Gameplay is the ONE thing DD did get right. But Elden Ring wins on any other level. Although I do hate the atmospere in ER: there is just no life at all, only monsters and psychopaths. a nice little city or even a village with a dude telling a joke or two to release a bit the pressure is what's really missing for me in that game. So even though ER is definitly much more beautifull and fun to explore, I do prefere the world of DD which feels a bit more alive.
From software games always are the same game with a different coat of paint. Lacks the ability to play as a magic user because magic sucks in that game. Dragons dogma 2 is a power fantasy but a very bad power fantasy. They both suck.
10:35 Man the combat sucks in all souls games, why they are so popular?
YES! DD2 IS BETTER THAN ELDEN RING
Don't even Compare elden ring to that joke of a game
