My favorite Doobie Brothers song. It is nothing but fire. A great song to dance to.
My favorite Dobie Brothers songs ,"China Grove", "Black Water", Dark Eyed Cajun Women", "Taking It To the Streets" and many many more.
I don't really count the Michael McDonald Doobie Brothers songs. Tom Johnson as a lead singer is the Doobies.
More evidence of how lucky I grew up in the 70s!! Bruddah, these groups were the norm back in the day!! Still relevant...can't beat good songwriters, acoustic musicians, great vocalists!! Some of the originals here in their 70s and still kicking!!
Just recently inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.
Why? The Doobie Brothers should have gotten their induction years ago.
What a crazy system we live in.
They deserved so much more credit than they have gotten.
I love their music.
"Long Train Runnin".Top 10 on my list 2020
Boston and Kansas have never been inducted. Criminal
@@yaimavol Steppenwolf did not get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. What?
Thanks Wilburn!!! I hadn't seen this performance before. I was blown away too! Not bad for some 60 year old dudes! This performance was superb! The studio versions of the "China Grove" and "Listen to the Music" are truly great because the studios make everything so smooth and perfect!
They are older than 60! Most are in their early 70s. They’ve still got it though! Lots of energy.
Yes! 70’s! I know because I went to high school with Pat!
I'll be 74 in February and I definitely won't forget them
Listen to the music. It’s a song
Great band that has been doing it for a long long time. Saw them many times live and they never disappoint. Still going strong and still sound great. Give "Black Water" a listen.
This is REAL music. Lets see if one of the current pop acts can do something like this!
"Taking it to the Streets" is a wonderful song that is so effective today...
I totally agree!
Wowza, I've never heard ANYONNNEEEE get THAT kind of sound out of a saxophone in my LIFE!!! Man my band teacher in high school really did us saxophonists dirty with his favouring of the trumpet section and giving them all the cool stuff, I didn't know we were capable of more then than playing a backing dirge for a band.
I used to be so jealous of those trumpets players and all the cool stuff they got to do at the front there
How can anyone even think about comparing the music of the 70s to today. Good lord.
This song is almost 50 years old now! Let that sink in! The Doobie Brothers were _the hot_ rhythm band of the 1970s. We teenagers loved them and couldn't get enough of them. And they have so many hits--their catalogue is HUGE! Do some more! "Dark Eyed Cajun Woman" is them at their blues picking best. My favourite Doobies song! 🎸🎸🎸🎶🎙️💥💘
These guys were all in their 60s when they did this live version. They were one of the top Bands in the world throughout the 1970s. They were also a lot younger then, in their 20s. Great Band, even almost 50 yrs later.
Omg 50 years later and still rocking 😍. Love it!!
You do realise this song is 50 years old! The Captain and Me, 1973. Enjoy brother xx
My first concert! China Grove...Black Water...Takin it to the Streets...so many more 🎶🔥🎶
standing in front of the stage in the college gym, circa '73- they were awesome
Imagine, there a couple days past prime here and just killed it!!
Long Train Runnin' is pure FIRE and a VIBE!!!
We had tickets to see the Doobie Brothers last Sept but of course it was postponed due to COVID restrictions. It has been re-scheduled twice. I can't WAIT to see them! This tour is supposed to include both Tom Johnston and Michael McDonald -- I hope that's still true by the time the tour gets to actually happen. This is one of the best bands EVER. Over 50 years together!
Saw them last week live in Arnhem in the Netherlands as opening act to Eagles the long goodbye tour. They still rock, inclusief Michael McDonald
Great reaction!!! Please react to "Listen To The Music," "China Grove," "Black Water," "Dark Eyed Cajun Women," "Taking It To The Streets" and "What A Fool Believes" by the Doobie Brothers (Your Bubble will be glad you did!!!)...
Saw them in 1976, in a warehouse, in the summer, in SC. They said it was the hottest venue they had ever played. People were passing out left and right and we all thought we would die. They were so good, when the show was over, I went straight to the ticket window and bought a ticket for the next night. Everyone was so appreciative that they gave their all in this hell hall, bags of weed were flying through the air onto the stage. 😎
One of my fav bands......been going strong since 1970.......50 years !!!.......that should tell you something !!
My favorite from them is 'What a fool believes ' with all the original members 😊
Not all the original members. Tom Johnston had left, and the lead of that song was sung by Michael McDonald.
Great performance, seen them, when I was younger, awesome doobies, one of my favourite bands, with steely dan, say no more 🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶🎵😄👍👍
Original record was a GREAT radio singalong when cruisin with ur friends. They still sing great
Why hasn't this popular band been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame yet.
This is with their early years best lead singer when the band rocked out!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
It is fascinating to me that this tune has the exact same minor blues chord progression as John Coltrane's "Equinox", Miles Davis "All Blue" and BB King's "The Thrill Is Gone" but is a totally different vibe.
This is also when they are older and they are still doing a great job. One Doobie Brother you might have heard before is Michael McDonald. He had some solo hits and duets with Patti La Belle and Aretha Franklin. Your dad might have played some of his songs. I don't believe he was in this video, but as you listen to more Doobie Brothers you see him on keys and singing lead sometimes. His solo song "I Keep Forgettin' " was sampled on the rap song Regulate by Warren G. I learned that from another channel.
Doobie brothers best song is real love. I think it's a forgotten song. Even I had forgotten about it till I came across it on youtube.
Good ole hippies doing the real music of ear;ier days...The Best
My first time hearing this live version....oh ya! Tons of music like this from the Doobie Brothers.
You hit the Gold Mine.. You've been Doobied.. Still great after all these years
My first time viewing your channel. It's great to see a young man with good taste in music. I am a huge fan of the Doobie Brothers and have followed them from the beginning. I like many types of music and collect Vinyl. I have somewhere around 4000 albums and probably 1000 cd's. I look forward to watching more of your videos.
The song wasn't quite over when you stopped it, but I really appreciate your reaction and comments to this live version of the Doobies best song.
Unique...Americana group...something about them always lifts you up. So talented! 😎👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 The Allman Brothers also use two drummers!
Covered a few of their songs in bands I've been in over the years. Such a great, solid band. Never disappoints. The Allman Brothers always used 2 drummers too.
You should have seen them in the '70's. I saw them for the first time in 1975. Hirsch Memorial Coliseum in Shreveport, Louisiana. Bachmann Turner Overdrive opened for them. Fantastic show for my first car date. If you thought they had energy here. Take 46 years off then put them on stage. Heard a lot of great music that night including Long Train Running, China Grove and Listen to the Music.
If you haven't heard the Tedeschi Trucks Band I think you would love them. Derek Trucks is an amazing slide guitar player and his wife Susan Tedeschi has a very powerful, bluesy voice. She is a pretty good guitar player too. And I believe they have two drummers.
Big Doobie brothers fan !...Watch their live concerts
This is a fairly recent live show -- the camera phones in the audience alone will tell you that. Tom Johnston's voice still sounds supple and strong. This is one of the best songs of the Doobies' initial rock or country-rock phase (the others being "China Grove" and "Black Water," with a little "Listen to the Music" or even their cover of "Jesus is Just Alright" on the side).
Several years after this song was released, the band shifted into a substantially different sound, with "blue-eyed soul" singer Michael McDonald primarily fronting the band. They had singles that were as big or even bigger hits (e.g., "Takin' It To the Streets,","It Keeps You Runnin'" and of course, "What a Fool Believes") which were fine, but did not appeal to me as much as this earlier phase of the band, which rocked harder.
I went to a concert of theirs in Austin TX in 1979, awesome!
Interesting. This band is phenomenal. In the middle of the song one of the
guitarists played a lick from the song “Fly Like an Eagle” by Steve Miller band.
Your face says it all , like a kid in a candy store unsupervised you want all of this 👍
The 70s were loaded with great musicians and songwriters from rock, folk and Motown. Today it's all artificial music, poets and WORDSMITHS. Wonder if that will still be playing 50 years from now ??
My favorite group since I was 12. I'm 60 now. Lots of people don't realize how great a live band they are, even though they are now in their 70's. Check out Mother's Finest (Live - Baby Love). My very close second favorite band.
Music we had when we were kids was phenomenal
Doobies with Michael McDonald are great too. He’s one of the greatest soul singers and pianists ever. “ Takin’ It to the Streets” a song for NOW.
They need two drummers because they are *SOOO FUNKY.*
That opening scream was straight outta James Brown! That was AWEsome...
Also: the Bubble of Fantastic-ness is an excellent sentence :)
Tom still energetic and killin it👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️
Long Train Running...my all-time favorite Doobie song! This band is iconic in classic rock! I bet you'll be surprised at how many of their hits you will recognize. Great reaction! 😉
Them young fellows seemed like they knew what they were doing! Great performance first time seeing it!
Terrific live performance and I only noticed two of the Doobies who, were on the original recording. They can sure as hell put together a band can that hold their own with the original. Reaction was spot on!
The best dual drummers are Jai Johanny Johanson (or just "Jaimoe") and Butch Trucks from The Allman Brothers...I saw them many times, and just complimented each other so well.
You saw it with your own eyes they were so tight and funky.
You won't forget them after hearing this
I didn't know Mark Hamill played bass for the Doobie Brothers!
Black Water is cool. Very different easy-going vibe.
I watched it again.... really nice.... I agree!
Doobie Brothers was the last concert I saw before the pandemic. These guys were great & very humble too
"Listen to the Music," "Black Water," and "Clear as the Driven Snow" are essentials. For 'Michael McDonald on lead vocals' era, "What a Fool Believes" and "Minute By Minute" are excellent.
hey, that's a little Soul Vaccination at the start from sax player! go TOP!
The 1973 studio record is fab...
The Doobies. Great musicians and vocalists. I see you have listened to a few. Would to have you take a listen to “Black Water”
I like your reaction style man. I was 14 when the original version came out.
How about Three Dog Night? Try a little tenderness on 1975 Soundstage! Otis would be proud!❤️🎶
You can't beat the 70s rock and roll bands
Never saw this live rendition, awesome!! Please tell me when this was recorded? Thanks, great choice!
You must also check out the studio version of Long Train Running. You know how concert performances can be different from the studio and how that can change the mood of the original piece. This is such a case.
Listen to this song performed by the Doobies in a live concert, Santa Barbara 1982-ish, I believe. The late Clarence Bumpus (sax, organ) does the vocals, along with Michael McDonald. The whole concert is a total jam.
Now that we have got your attention, listen to "What a Fool Believes" and "Diamond" by The Doobie Brothers.....The songs will take you down the Rabbit Hole!!!! lol
You should always listen to the original studio version first, and definitely not something that's many years later
Go back and listen to the original cut of that song and watch the video of that song I'm a black guy who grew up in that era where we jammed on the Doobie Brothers The Doobie Brothers is the s***
Love the Doobie Brothers, one of the soundtracks of my youth. Try singing the harmonies on 'Black Water' with your buds after having a doobie, lol! Ah, memories...
Love it! Awesome!
Great song along with Black Water!
My favorite was black water. Awesome vocals
Damn, they are just so good.
Often times, I put my Raycons in my ears and fall asleep to these guys. They are one of my favorites.
They were here in Nashville in October but I didn't get to go. Ugh 😩😩
Next Doobie suggestion: China Grove!
Meu Deus que coisa linda ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️
Yeah man I used to roll for the Doobie Brothers
I was ready to see them this year for their 50th Anniversary Tour. Cancelled due to Covid 😢
I will catch them when this is all over! I’ve seen them a dozen times from San Jose State U, to Days on the Green in Oakland, to our local Concord Pavilion with ALL past & present members. Awesome shows!!!
Their favorite album is The Captain and Me. Lots of early hits on that one 💗
Hey kids. This is what music can be.
Doobie Bros."Black Water"Great record.
So many layers.Great sound.
They're still Takin it to the Streets. Bless the Doobies.
Another group that used two drummers on stage was ABBA. Their 1979 Wembley Arena concerts are a great example of this.
The Allman Brothers had two drummers also
amen
2 drums? Oh you gotta check out the Tedeski Trucks Band - Anyhow. Great song plus it's got the 2 drummers your into. Check it out, I guaranty you will love it. Plus it's got horns too!
GREAT SONG!!!
If you only concentrate on 70's bands......you're gonna need a MUCH bigger bubble.
I'd have well over 50 bands of elite status in MY bubble mate just from that wonderful decade alone.
You should watch this song live in budoken the drums are amazing in that video
Get blind sided by Joni Mitchell's "Woodstock" or Ray Charles "If You Go Away" or Leon Russell's "Song for You"
Good Harmonica solo....but I do believe the solo on the album version was better. Thumbs up on the sax solo.
This is great though you want beyond great then try reacting to The Allman Brothers longer live version at Fillmore East of the song Whipping Post. It daze and amaze you!👍🏻❤️😀
Allman Brothers use two drummers (and two lead guitarists).
