    I dig watching your reactions Ace. I appreciate your honesty when you don't like a song. I'm 59 years old and grew up listening to these great songs in Southern California. Brings back so many memories whenever i listen to these songs. Music is so powerful.

    Dude you totally put me in a party mood with your dancing and that's just mostly chair dancing! No, for real, you would be right at home on a dance floor in the 80s, or in the 70s, which the mid 70s was when this came out. You would be right at home, and really vice versa for me, although I could probably make it through like one song and then have to take a breather, laugh.
    I have a lot of favorite Doobie Brothers songs but this is definitely up there. It never gets old. I always hear slightly new details in it but the thing is, it just makes you want to dance to it and groove to it, and for me personally, it makes me want to play bass guitar to it.

    The train sound on the harmonica is actually called a freight train. It was my goal when I was learning to play the harmonica to be able to master the freight train.

    Be very careful when listening this while driving. LOL definitely funky. When I was a teenager in the 70's we would roller skate to all these hits, like Earth Wind And Fire, so much good music.

  • @SpiderMcGee

    This song was released in early 1973, but (and I seem to be the only one who noticed this), there are some similarities to the Led Zeppelin song "Trampled Under Foot" which was recorded a year later. Led Zeppelin has a reputation of being "inspired" by the work of others, so there's that.

    • @llusk6375
      @llusk6375 8 месяцев назад

      Immigrant song was released Nov 5, 1970, on 45 rpm. Hey, Hey What Can I Do was on the B side.

    • @mr.knowitall6440
      @mr.knowitall6440 8 месяцев назад

      I noticed this back in the 80's...
      I comment on it every time I watch a reaction to this song or Trampled Under Foot.
      Zeppelin basically took this song and Zeppelinized it. Much more than "inspired by", more like "borrowed"... in a good way.

    • @mr.knowitall6440
      @mr.knowitall6440 8 месяцев назад

      In the book "Hammer of the Gods", the author mentions something about Zeppelin hanging out in California with other musicians, and that during this period they did some "Doobie Brothers style" stuff.
      At the time I didn't know what he was talking about, but a few years later I had bought a Doobie Brothers Greatest Hits tape... Then one day as I was listening to "Trampled Under Foot" I realized that it was essentially this song. You're right, hardly anyone seems to realize this.

    That's why they used the harmonica in this to make those trains sounds.

    The song is called "Long Train Running ". The harmonica did add to the feel of a train moving down the track.

    Blues players on guitar, harmonica, and piano have musical ways of imitating trains. Watch the musical movie from the 80s starring Ralph Macchio (karate kid 1-3) and Joe Seneca, called CROSSROADS.

    I enjoy watching your reactions. Love them! I get as excited as yo🎉u when it comes to funk, I want to move when the beat is there. Michael McDonald had a successful career with the Doobi Brothers and on his own. Many, many artists have celebrated with Michael and he's a talented man. If you can will you react to the Live verson of Yah Mo B There featuring James Ingram. RIP
    Mr Ingram..we miss your music. 🫶🎤🎶🙏

    Love this song had to watch your reaction - you know I discovered a Genre of music that I couldn't stop moving too called Afrobeat and the Godfather was Fela Kuti (Like the Bob Marley of Africa) and his sons also continue his tradition. It moves! Look up Seun Kuti doing his fathers song "Opposite People" and you won't be sorry!
