Great video. I'm from sorsogon BTW. The pili capital of the world.
Pili truly symbolizes the Bicolano characteristics especially the Pili Tree of being resilient
we also have plenty Pili here in Camiguin and we call it Kapili😊
The exterior nut pulp is another potential product which, with sugar added has strong pili flavor locals call "tampuyak". Someone should research how to prolong shelf life to be sold commercially.
lagi ako nakain netoh sa catanduanes ughh miss ko na to
I used to climb pili tree to gather nuts when i was a child,.we would put them in hot water for a few minutes and remove the outer skin.
After they are dried i would sell them, there comes a time na nauumay na ako kasi sa dami kung nakakain but now that i am here in The US miss na miss ko sya.
Maria. it is put in a warm water (if hot it the outer meat will get harder). the process is called paglanta. you can eat the outer meat either plain or dipped in sugar as dessert or dipped in patis as viand which is my favourite.
sorry there is an error in the preceding. Hot water makes tne outer meat harder
I just saw this but on a good expo today am intrigued and interested ahhaha, they sell it as a really premium product and they make it easier to open
Proud bicolana here🙂🖐
Oh my, those way of cracking the Pili nuts require experience and precision to open the hard shell without splitting the nut. I guess Bicolanos really know how to handle them.
the angle of the bolo should be approximate 30 degrees with the tip hitting the wooden chopping board evreytime you strike. arog kayan an pagtilad mga nene asin nonoy

Deferent from Dabai in Sarawak, Malaysia
Where to get pili nuts in Malaysia ?
Alam kona kung bakit sa bicol tumobo ang maraming Pili kasi gusto pala niya ang Bagyo mas namumunga siya pag binabagyo. Kasi sa bicol madalas daanan ng Bagyo
My favorite NUT 😀💗💗💗
I know how to crack it without damage the nuts. I'm proud to say I'm from bicolandia.
Sa catanduanes barato yan
It's time to rebrand this product in a climate of food lifestyle conscience consumers. It's one of the lowest-carb nuts known which is a major plus if you're living a very low-carb or "keto" way of life.
Wow! There's money in PILI...
What about the PILI leaves ? The nuts have once source of nutrition but the shell although hard has a entirely different chemical composition
What happens to the outer shell after oil is extracted from the hard shell?
Yummy salad!
In brunei we use to boil the fruits and eat the outer flesh. Bruneians like the rich n fatty taste of its outer flesh. Expensive as its cost B$10.00 per kilos. That is equivalent to almost peso 370/ kilos.
