Well said, half these "Johhny come lately's" know nothing about the history of our football club. David Seaman joined Arsenal when he was 27/28 he didnt reach his peak arguably until Euro 96 when he was well into his 30s. Ramsdale is 25, has lots of upside, and his best years ahead of him.
I've been an Arsenal fan for almost 40 years. Many highs and many lows. It's never easy lol
For me Ramsdale is potentially great and i love his personality and attitude but he's nowhere near his peak yet.
Agree Ramsdale is 25, goalkeepers don't reach their peak until they are 30. He makes mistakes yes, but so did Seaman and Lehman, some massive ones too. Seaman didn't join Arsenal until he was 29, and in his first season won the league title. Ramsdale has a massive upside, signing Raya would be a misallocation of resources and a kick in the teeth to Ramsdale. And I am not just saying that because of the statement he put out today.
But if Matt Turner is on the way out it only makes sense to strengthen the position. Injuries at a vital stage in any competiton can be make or break [🗣cough Saliba, Jesus]
So you suggest we hinder his growth
It’s not hindering growth, if he’s good enough he’ll come out on top, if he doesn’t we’re prepared, look at Martinelli and Trossard competition has made them both better players
@@daryllsmith No other big club has two first choice goalkeepers, why is that? I will tell you why because eventually one of them leaves. This is totally indulgent entertaining the transfer of a goalkeeper when our number one striker has just had a knee op.
excited for this transfer, but rambo is the guy, especially after his clutch moments. i feel he gets underrated quite a bit
He needs to improve on set pieces, get more involved in aerial duals, but yes he shows amazing potential especially in one on ones. I think he n Raya would make an excellent duo and raise earth others game.
You can either look at it in one of these 2 ways. 1: We are not being given a chance to fall in love with the players while we on our way to achievements.( invincibles era) or 2:Caring more about silverware a bit more like city where the disposition of players is high like it happened with players who fans loved like Sane, Jesus, Yaya Toure etc because they didn’t fit what the manager wanted from them and fast forward a few years later they have created an incredible standard by making such decisions.

You are not in competition with those at the club, but those of Ederson, and Allison and you are not there yet. If you are better than Raya you will play, so be better".....It is an evolution in the mentality of a club that for too long has been 'not so strong'. We too as fans must adjust to the transformation on all fronts that is taking place at Arsenal. It can be uncomfortable as a fan loyal to a player, but remember, Pep is never discomforted to make an upgrade in any position that he thinks can improve the team's performance. ....champion mentality! I have watched that dvd 1000 times and the one thing I always remember is how we blew it in the champs league against Chelsea and how we should have gone on to beat Porto considering the quality/confidence in the side..

I think its far more likely that Mikel is looking for two '#1' GKs to allow changes between league and cup games. And after last season being derailed by key injuries this also gives us a genuine 'next man up' approach. Given Ramsadles obvious mental strength (given what he suffered personally last year without any drop in form) this may well elevate him to the next level.

I had concerns about ramsdale last year and was heavily criticised for it. He’s not bad by any means, just not the elite GK we need yet. I’m glad we are looking at other options to bring competition to the position!

Strengthening an area of strength is a good thing, It'll also be nice to have a really good option if Ramsdale' form drops or he picks up an injury. I like Turner but we won't win anything if he has to have a run of games in goal but with Raya coming in we have 2 good players that will push each other to be better and from what we've seen of Aaron he'll relish the competition and support David if/when he gets a run of games

I'm really hoping that just having some competition breathing down his neck gets Ramsdale to a new level. He's shown a lot of very exciting attributes, but a lot of his goalkeeping stats leave something to be desired.
Emirates is basically the reasons why we suffered a lot as an arsenal fans. But also the reason we probably can be one of the biggest club itw in the future. I love interview of wenger blatantly said that he suffered a lot bcs of the stadium he once builted.
I agree with the ruthless thing. I hate to bring up Man U, but Erik Seven Hag and the whole Ronaldo thing was what I thought of when you said ruthlessness.

Another point to add which I heard on ArsenalVision from Clive was, this could affect the morale as he is Goalkeeping coach's favourite and speaks the language etc. Hopefully it doesnt turn things sour. I personally don't think Raya can actually be our number one but he will definitely push Ramsdale. I also liked the point you made that Raya will increase his value and can be sold outside England. So It is definitely, a good move. Ramsdale actually has higher ceiling from what I have seen of both, he can pull off miraculous saves. Lets see how it goes.
I agree with your first point but since we might have to buy Raya for 40 mill, I find it hard to belive we can sell Raya for more than that fee, but the market is inflating so never say never. I think Ramsdale could be sold for a very high fee.

hopefully some of the transfers we've completed + raya aren't entirely relying on outgoings, I still have some hope that if we shift out some players starting soon (flo, pepe, cedric, nuno, sambi) we can push for a forward late on in the window

A really good video, he says a lot of what Arsenal fans are thinking about our club going forward. A very good insight into Raya. I like ramsdale, but if I am honest he's too easily distracted and takes too many chances, but will improve with competition from Raya. Bring it on.
I love your content! Please do a video on our striker options. I feel like Nketia is not good enough for us. Could be the star at a mid table club but just not good enough for winning the PL - too wasteful, sub par positioning. With injury prone Jesus and ‘not really a 9’ Havertz, we either need a big signing (could be an older player, who would come cheap) or we need to adapt Martinelli (who was on fire vs Monaco) or Trossard (also looks in great form) to the role.
PAIN. I love Ramsdale but he is prone to unforced errors and just desnt have that bite a Schmeichel or Lehmann hae in the box

I am an Arsenal fan, let's be honest, Ramsdale is a good GK, his distribution isn't too bad, he has made some amazing saves but that's what keepers are paid to do. Ramsdale shot stopping is below the bar and penalties too. Raya is a big upgrade, I don't care who gets hurt and leaves, I just want trophies, I have suffered enough as an Arsenal fan.

great video, maybe turner just wanted to leave to be number 1 at forest, so we needed another keeper, arteta and the gk staff seemed to have liked raya for years ,so I guess now is the time. Competition will be good for ramsdale

If we just think about this coming season… if we make a splash at striker and another one in midfield and shore up the defense… then this is a move a championship caliber team makes to insure their best shot. Otherwise, it’s just a move that may or may not work out. COYG!
I love having the competition, but honestly if we're gonna be ruthless that way I'm not sure I like that. Obviously not at the expense of losing titles, but the club should maintain a sense of family and a sense of it being a team, not a well oiled machine designed to win titles no matter what.

talk about those XG numbers, Leno is better than Raya. I dont think we need him, I think Ramsdale is good enough. he was good enough to take us to 2nd, he can take us all the way. There's nothing wrong with Raya really, but he is too good to be second best, so is Ramsdale. A too big squad will be difficult to manage.

Look at it this way. Last season we "lost" it because of injury, getting an keeper with equal to better or how you see Raya, doesn't hurt anyone. This could just be to make sure that 1. Ramsdale doesn't get injured. 2. His wage and how much value he will bring for a salary increase 3. Having different playstyles, using Ramsdale in some and Raya in others, better suited the way we want to win or setup for each game as they come, as everyone is flexible to play almost whatever position in different playstyles.

Every year, every year there is unhappy players on the bench at big clubs. This has to become our mindset, players coming in going out but keeping the squad as strong as possible. This season our squad will be able to carry an out of form keeper or an injury which gives an advantage over a lot of our competitors. This might last a year and let the best man win period.
Maybe Mikel want Raya to play in the champions league, for me Ramsdale has been fantastic and I stil believe he is on his way to being an arsenal legend
This may be a negative outlook but i think it’s worth mentioning: When Arteta had both Leno and Ramsedale at his disposal, and Leno was on poor form (if i remember that correctly), Ramsedale replaced him quickly, and for the rest of the games. Leno (still a great goalkeeper) wasted away and i think barely played again. What if that were to happen here? And should that be something to worry about?

This is totally unrelated to the video, but finding out Arsenal have the highest net spend over the last 5 years was pretty wild. 680M compared to Man City’s 262M!
United are close at 676M, Tottenham at 508M, Chelsea 448M, Newcastle 432M, Aston Villa 337M and Liverpool at 255M. Whilst Barcelona and Madrid don’t even crack the top 10!
It’s the outgoings that make up a chunk of the bad business Arsenal does..
Net spend, as above implied, doesn't exist - or more truly, is a lot more complex. Wages, agents fees etc. are far from negligible! Ben White is not costing Arsenal more than Varane is costing United, nor will Havertz cost us more than Haaland cost City, for instance.

This potential goalkeeper transfer sets the tone of the club. No one is indispensable. If you want to play for arsenal and win trophies, you need to perform at the highest level at all times. And if you are not up to those challenges, you cant play for arsenal week in week out.
