thanks for this video bro. my old build is like 2015-16 its a asus b150m pro gaming motherboard and then i got the gtx 960 2gb and that was crap out of the box then i got a gtx1070 and thats lasted me years and i still love it. i have i5 6400 cpu and 8gb of fury hyper x ram and a 970 evo plus 1tb ssd and evga g2l 850watt psu. i have now ordered new parts for a new build which is gigabyte aero z790 motherobard because it looks nice and clean and the 5x m.2 slots is great. i also ordered a gigabyte aero 4070ti gpu and that looks great too. i also ordered corsair dominator titanium 7200 2x16gb ram that look nice too. i also received my new case which is a hyte y70 and its an amazing case in white. i cant wait to start building this. but my theory of gaming be creator or cheap motherboard is the fact u gain a few more frames with gaming and less with non gaming but i havent speculated this or know its true. like u can get 4070ti cheapest one and then u can get asus strix top dog gaming 4070ti and it will be much better. not a little better. like i have asus b150m pro gaming motherboard it really helps and gives me good frame rates. i just hope this creator build im choosing does do good gaming for me with 3440x1440p

    • @akuma_soul

Long story short, a creator motherboard is built to house more storage and external drives, etc. to enhance artists amd creators needs. More space to upgrade, less gamy look and some neat additions like the usb c on the ProArt. Otherwise, there is no difference than maybe personal preference. I'm currently building a new Rig with an Asus ProArt x670e for the sake of being able to upgrade storage and having all the connectivity I might need to work with it 🤙

Thanks that's actually really helpful. I am a creator but I don't necessarily need massive amounts storage for my work. Even so I do have about seven terabytes for various purposes. Although uploading photographs and video is a regular workflow activity it's not critical that it upload at an extremely fast speed. I've been doing fine with USB 3.0. But I do need it to run Photoshop, lightroom and Premiere pro.
I've built my PCs with gaming motherboards because I thought I'd get the best performance out of them. I utilize the AI overclock feature to squeeze out a little more performance from the hardware.
Do the creative-centric boards have these features?

It does not even matter if a motherboard has more connectivity. Cause the real usability is limited by the lanes that the CPU and the Chipset has. minus 4, cause those are used in the CPU - Chipset interaction.

    • @lilunchengsmiles

The only question is : are they cheaper thanks to the abscence of pointless RGB ?
    If so, it's a homerun.
Only drawback is lack of OC capabilities, but even in gaming MB, unlike in 2011 like thr asus ramoage IV extreme: you can't get an affordable OC Capable MB with a bunch if useless stuff. Hell, quad channel doesn't even exist anymore ...

If you buy a workstation motherboard, there are further platform costs associated with that too. Motherboards for Xeon/Threadrippers/EPYC would be more expensive, and so would the CPUs (and even for fairly heavy editors, the CPUs that populate those motherboards might be overkill). In some cases, you also have to get ECC ram, which just adds more costs. Factor in all of that and you're looking at a significant amount of extra money needing to be invested for what will most likely be overkill in terms of PCIe lanes for the vast majority of people and even creators.
Also, the wonderful RUclipsr who posted this mentioned that some creators need Thunderbolt for their workflows, a feature that you'd be hard-pressed to find on most server/workstation boards.
For heavy data center-type work, or if the work that someone is doing is extremely heavy (3D Modelling, VFX, etc.) the extra cost for a workstation motherboard and CPU might be justified, but I think for 90+% of people, what GigaGeek pointed out is more than enough

your pretending like you cant do heavy editing on the gaming board because of a few expansion ports? the proart is nice, but having 2 extra sata plus a faster usb port isntg a huge advantage@@GigaGeek, its a totally made up reason to give the creator motherboard an advantage. so on my gaming MB, if im using up all 6 SATA for Storage plus the M.2 storage ive maxed out my system with 30TB of Storage for video, your telling me because im not using those extra few plug on the ProArt.. its not suitable.,. lets be honest.. there is hardly a difference here.. you can game on both, edit on both, its really no different. its the same chipset. there are probably over features on the proart that give it an advantage. perhaps its using better components so its more stable. supports more ram or whatever.

    • @GigaGeek
      @GigaGeek  5 месяцев назад

I never said that you can’t do heavy editing on the gaming board. It’s that the proart gives more features towards heavy editors such as the display port in’s, thunderbolts and 10Gbe which are all common on creator boards. You can do both on both boards, the proarts/creator boards give more features for editors.

yes the main advantage over gaming baords is the 10GBE and Displayport passthrough
@@GigaGeek you did say "you can game on a creating motherboard but creating on gaming mb might be a bit difficult
depending on what you do " also "if your a hardcore video editor and you need alot, to transfer alot of files a a creator motherboard is where you should go."
you should cover more about what actually makes this board twice the price.. is it the components quality? or is it just a money grab., is it actually more reliable? has better warrenty?. its funny you know people use to say the same stuff about much older harder.. if you are hardcore editor you need 16gb ram,....lol. the lowest end PC of today is 5x faster than the fastest most hardcore PC of 10 years ago.

@@adamfilipowicz9260 Creator boards are meant for hardcore video editors and it might be difficult to create on a gaming motherboard as I've experienced in editing my videos. 32Gb is the minimum Id go for if you are a video editor. And yes, the PC of today is much faster than the fastest PC 10 years ago but softwares have also gotten more demanding.
