  • I decided to revisit an old sidewalk that i've kept my eye on over the years. I always thought the city would get them cleaned up. However, as you can see, it has never happened! Out of curiosity, I decided to check the old google maps photos of this corner. I was shocked to find out that these sidewalks, along with the ones around it, have not been touched for over 15 years. I'm not too sure what was on this land before, but I assume by the stairways, it could have had 3 homes on it, or a possible park? Not too sure. Either way, they both will look like new soon. Hope you enjoy this one! The other side will get done as well. Have a great day, and be a blessing to your community :)

      Great question
Public property is supposed to be the ‘communities’ responsibility
However- where I live I take care of walkways and boulevard- trees are left to be trimmed by the wind

Another awesome video, Fill. Speaking as someone who works for a city, we don’t have enough employees to take care of our own property, like all the parks, cemetery, airport, and ditches. Historically, in the summer we hire seasonal maintenance workers for all the extra work like nuisance properties when people won’t mow and take care of their own. We can’t get enough full-time people let alone summer help now. In our city sidewalks are the homeowners responsibility. Unfortunately that kind of thing falls to the bottom of the list when it comes to what’s the most important thing to do for our city.

We have a problem with old ordinances and laws. As our city has developed and expanded with new neighborhoods, they now require sidewalks. They didn't used to. So now we have a bunch of "sidewalks to nowhere ". They don't connect. It's still not fixing the issues for the disabled, or another forgotten bunch, the people for whatever reason that don't drive. I like your power broom. It seems faster and more directionally precise than the blower. Better than blowing dust every time. Nice to have that choice.

My son worked for landscaping companies for 12 years and never saw one of those wire brushes. What an awesome tool for your 'arsenal' ! I love these videos of city properties being cleaned up and the 'guesswork' of what used to be there. I vote for mansion--one of those big square ones with all the gingerbread and the 'widow's watch' at the very top!! Also-I don't know what the garbage collection is like in that city, but we have regular trash and recycling with those giant plastic bins that get emptied with a truck. Well, on garbage day, they go around on their route and eventually they have to dump the front bin. When it lifts up, if there is any wind at all, a bunch of stuff blows all over the place. That is the source of alot of our litter in my city. Maybe there, too.
The square metal item you found is a cigarette roller. The top has lost its arm.

Way back in the early 70s they ran a PSA on TV that featured a Native American named Iron Eyes Cody and came to be known as 'The Crying Indian'. It was an anti-littering campaign and it was very effective. I wish more people were aware of the impact of their actions in that regard. Once again, great work. Keep it up. That looked like an old antenna box for the top of the tv, up step up from the old rabbit ears. That power broom sure does a great job with those packed down leaves and dirt. The trash is a maddening, I live on a main road and try to keep my property nice, never fails that folks driving by seem to delight in throwing trash out the window for me to clean up.

That brush attachment was cool! Great that you picked up the trash, littering irritates me as well. Greetings from Sweden!

Excellent One Man Clean up Crew versus the City Officials. There no such thing as "Free" when citizen pays their Taxes for City Officials to clean up and upgrade Sidewalks and Public Parks; yet, one Local man end up doing it because it's the responsible way to do for his community well being. Kudos.

You did such a good job and it looked so hard. God bless you and what you do. My brother used to go out in his wheelchair with a grabber and pick up stuff from the street in front of his house. He got stuck one day and two women came by and helped him get out

Totally understandable. I've always despised littering. Even when I was younger. I just don't understand why people can't get their trash in the trash! This earth is not for us to make a mess of 🤦‍♀️ so I truly applaud you for the work you've done, with the sidewalk & the cleanup 🙏

My city does nothing in my sixties I had two feet of snow did my sidewalks took about six hours because he couldn't see the curb when he turned he covered my sidewalk. I have a corner lot. The city threaten me with a ticket for not doing the corner. You do wonderful work. Your electric broom works a treat.
