Setting sprays are designed to be more skin friendly so if your putting hairspray which is something that basically dries down and locks your hair in place on your skin you’re gonna regret it. Hairspray may contain alcohol and lacquer which are a big no for your skin, it’ll leave it dry and irritated. If it does work for you I think your probably doing a full coverage look hence why it isn’t in direct contact with your skin
I’ve been using hairspray as setting spray for like two years now bc I found out that’s what makeup artists use for underwater shoots. Makes it waterproof! But it shouldn’t be a daily thing. I just do it for nights out or a day I really need my makeup to stay
When my grandma used to spray 360° around my head after getting me ready she would always say “ it locks in the look“ I didn’t know that’s what she meant lol I thought it was just blatant justification for spraying me in the face😂
The person in the first clip used Got2B glued which is a REALLY good hairspray that is strong and holds out for ages, i use it for wigs, and have also used it to protect/set my facepaint for millie !! It does work, you just need the correct hair spray that will do the job
Yes! When i run out of fixatif i use it! Or, sometimes i use hairspray first then fixatif when im COMPLETELY done, because i fine if u get a medium hold hairspray, its a little more workable. Saved me in uni when i couldnt afford fixatif!
OMG, do you remember that one time that Andrew sprayed James with hairspray for his make up challenge? Looks like Andrew actually knew what he was talking about. edit: ty so much for 100 likes
My mum always used to do this to my face for dance competitions but I then got dermatitis and exma on my face (not bc of this ) so I have really sensitive skin so now I use setting spray but this is amazing
not just any hairspray ofcourse though. that guy in the clip usedd Got2b glued spray, that's also being used to glue down wigs so ofcourse it works. you used another one.
as someone who does color guard, this is what we do for parades when its super hot and our makeup melts!! definitely wouldnt do it on a regular basis cause it might irrate the skin, but its great for performances.
"Every thing is gona feel rly sticky, rly dry, and rly tight BUT thats the point" if i ever hear this sentence out of this video, i wont be thinking of hair spray iykwim😅
I love your videos and you should do some lip colors like you could put glitter on your lip gloss and then it looks literally and you can put extra glitter on it. What does using your hand and then I will look really pretty. I love your❤
Personally for me and my skin type I wouldn’t use hair spray, I have skin that can easily brake out from the littlest things, so hair spray would just personally make me brake out more, I used to use a lot of hair spray for school and cheerleading, and some would get on my forehead and my whole forehead would break out, so I say it could work but it may be bad for some skin types
TIP : spray the bottle super far from your face so your getting a light misting of the hairspray on your face. you only want to do this once your done with your makeup and have used other setting sprays beforehand.
But James are you using the same hair spray as him😏, I saw the bottle i believe he’s using the “Got2be” freeze hair spray you should try it with that one then see the difference ☺️
I do this when I have dance competitions cause setting spray doesn't keep it still and safe when we're stretching, dancing, or even just on the car ride down there
Yeah we'd do it all ll the time in theatre. Helps avoid getting the makeup on your costumes during quick changes or needing to reapply as much throughout the show. But its not magic and you'd still sweat off your makup. I remember the hairspray always made my skin breakout. But this was before setting spray was really a thing.
Hairspray also makes a waterproof effect on non-waterproof mascara, and prevents smudges too 😊
But how would you put it on?
I’m def not spraying my eyes💀
I genuinely want to know how tho
@@devonchocimski6831Me TOO! 😅
Use a spoolie omg think before you write
@@Cokeandcakes it’s gonna mess up the spoile💀
Calm down
@@devonchocimski6831not if it’s disposable ones…
Man I can’t imagine what this does to your skin. I’ll just stick to setting spray 😊
Yeah
Right 😭😭
i’ve used it for 2 years and honestly nothing has happened 🤷♂️
Everyone’s skin is different I would imagine my pores would get super clogged 🥴
Used it for 3 years, hasn't done anything bad to my skin.
Not only will you look good you will also be extremely flammable
😂😂 underrated.
That's what they used to do back than but it's horrible for your skin, which is why we now have setting spray😂
Looks like the original used Göt2B Glued. That is HEAVY duty hairspray
Yeah, that hairspray holds anything, I use it for cosplaying when i style my wigs and it works like a charm😻
This was gonna be my comment too.😊 That stuff is heavy duty!!😂
ok but is it safe to use on ur face 😭
@@iheartjheneaikoo 😭🤣 who knows, but at least your makeup won’t move for the day!
That's not hairspray. It's cement in a can.
✨the makeup is everything✨
I’ve been doing this years but I don’t do this anymore though as it’s not good for your skin
Eh it doesn't do anything to my skin
It's also super dangerous for your lungs
This literally came at the perfect moment. I just finished my setting spray.
Don't.
GIRL NOOOO!!!!! You’ll damage your skin 😭

I’ve been using hairspray as setting spray for like two years now bc I found out that’s what makeup artists use for underwater shoots. Makes it waterproof! But it shouldn’t be a daily thing. I just do it for nights out or a day I really need my makeup to stay
We did this in the 80's for sure. Aqua net extra super hold ftw ❤😂❤
James you should’ve done, setting spray on one half, and then hairspray on the other! And saw which one lasted longer!
This is what we did in dance recitals and cheer comps and it works great
I used to use hairspray back in the 90s for my makeup. Worked soo good. Maybe even better then some setting sprays today
LOVE THE HACKKK! Thank you for sharing with us this!! Looks so fun and finna try soon!! Excited! Can’t wait to see more videos from you sisterrrr!!
THE LAUGHS LOL
YOU LOOK SO GOOD
When my grandma used to spray 360° around my head after getting me ready she would always say “ it locks in the look“ I didn’t know that’s what she meant lol I thought it was just blatant justification for spraying me in the face😂

Btw hairspray sets everything

Brings back dance memories when my mum used to spray my face with a heap of hairspray
i’ve done this plenty of times 😂😂 but only when i need it
My mum always used to do this to my face for dance competitions but I then got dermatitis and exma on my face (not bc of this ) so I have really sensitive skin so now I use setting spray but this is amazing
Just don’t get to close to the flame 😂🤭
How do you have such clear skin? 🤩
I Wish I looked that good❤
Back in late 2000s/early 2010s when we always used hairspray instead of setting spray
At least he’s honest
not just any hairspray ofcourse though.
that guy in the clip usedd Got2b glued spray, that's also being used to glue down wigs so ofcourse it works.
you used another one.
I used to do that technic before I figured out about setting spray 😂
Love that he’s showing the fail parts aswell I’m a fan now
Thats what we done in the 00s in school😂
Classic high school cheer move😂
I have tried it and it works btw your gorgeous ❤
I used to do this all the time back in middle school lol. My dry skin is crying watching this.
I love that he’s so honest
I love how honest he is lol
I learned this hack in Theater 😂 i love that you added that lil history
Isn’t that how makeup setting spray was invented? Or rather, derived? Aren’t the ingredients the same, or very similar?
as someone who does color guard, this is what we do for parades when its super hot and our makeup melts!! definitely wouldnt do it on a regular basis cause it might irrate the skin, but its great for performances.
I love that James always smile
"It's going to bereally sticky, really dry and tight". My perverted mind - that's what she said
Wow, what an amazing results 😮
If I did this I would probably break out in zits 😅😅 my skin is so sensitive to hairspray
The best artist hack is spraying your work with hairspray if it’s pencil. It won’t smudge up the paper anymore. I’ve been doing it for a long time.
the first thing that came to my mind✨acne✨
Love your nails!
Oh and it’s Flammable 🔥🔥🔥🔥
QUEEN 👑 SLAY
Yes! I do this in cheer knowing you have to be in a sweaty place all day lol
That's what my mom told me❤
ur amazing
"Every thing is gona feel rly sticky, rly dry, and rly tight BUT thats the point" if i ever hear this sentence out of this video, i wont be thinking of hair spray iykwim😅
Love u James wish I can meet u ❤
You gotta do it from a good distance bc it will get shiny and stiff looking if it hits too much in a spot.
Love your videos
You are a very positive person ❤
But don’t do this on the Fourth of July-
🔥
For theater and weddings !
i need you to try baby powder as a setting powder i wanna see if it works
Girl. I’ve been doing this since 2014 😂I was just embarrassed to tell anyone. NOW YOURE TELLING ME ITS A TREND. tip: USE IT ON YOUR BROWS!!!!!
N spolier alerte......U CAN!😂

This is what I do for dance competitions and plays it work rlly well

you should try doing a full face of makeup only using blush!!
His nails is so beautiful
Girl this is all star cheer
TIP : spray the bottle super far from your face so your getting a light misting of the hairspray on your face. you only want to do this once your done with your makeup and have used other setting sprays beforehand.
The alcohol in hairspray is SO bad for your skin! No sense in having any anti-aging products if you do this regularly
My mom taught me to do this lol! She would do a bit of makeup and set it with hairspray before school picture day!
But James are you using the same hair spray as him😏, I saw the bottle i believe he’s using the “Got2be” freeze hair spray you should try it with that one then see the difference ☺️
I just love the laugh
DO NOT DO THIS
If you have acne, you've just dug your own grave at this point, plus it can irritate your skin to a point it's uncontrollably itchy 😭😭😭
How cute of Charles to use Nikkie’s Fan from Nimya 🧡💙
I do this when I have dance competitions cause setting spray doesn't keep it still and safe when we're stretching, dancing, or even just on the car ride down there
When I was very young, we only had the hairspray option. It worked VERY well!
Yeah we'd do it all ll the time in theatre. Helps avoid getting the makeup on your costumes during quick changes or needing to reapply as much throughout the show. Oooooo okay James need to compare with hairspray and setting spray for finishing makeup look
Aquanet. Was the holy grail for my nana & mom . 🤣😂
Yes I used to use hairspray to set my makeup. It always worked really good my mom taught me
That's something I've been doing all my life lol I'm now 32 lol
