Evening capt..just wondering if you have some tutorial on your fishing setup I mean the leader, the knots all that stuff.. I'll be more than happy if you respond to this..BTW thanks for cheering us.. You're my biggest inspiration
That's the biggest Mangrove I've ever seen. Ya'll are exactly the type of personalities I enjoy fishing with and watching videos of. When the video started, I said why would ya'll put forth the effort & time to go off shore without some sort of bait? But...Johnny Jigs put the smack down on em! Love it, love it. Nice job gentleman.
It was a hoss for sure! Thanks for tuning in, glad you’re enjoying the content. We’ve made several trips offshore with nothing but Jigs. It’s nice not to have to worry about messing with bait from time to time
OK first I didnt even need to make it past the into to give it a thumbs up and second DAMNNNNN Monster Mangrove and doubled up on jacks. Looks like a hell of a day. Excellent video as always Capt.
Glad you enjoyed it, and glad to hear the longer videos are doing better. I’ll definitely being doing more especially for offshore trips, there’s just so much action I hate to not put it all in the video
Loving the offshore content. Gotta take advantage of these calm winter days, they don't come very often. Sadly there isn't much we can keep off the reef other than scamps and mingos
We've been catching a lot of vermilion snapper and Lane snapper as well as the dreaded Red snapper off Daytona Beach Florida. Inshore lots of Red and black drum and of course sheepshead
Another great video as always, I really enjoy the videos when you are out fishing with your buddies, you are always laughing and having a good time, keepup the good work
Awesome trip, Captain. Unrelated question: I think your VHF radio is a Garmin(?). What antenna do you use? My 22 Seahunt is about to be equipped with vhf radio/antenna. I won't be going any more than 30 miles offshore. Unfortunately, I don't have a T-top and will be mounting the antenna on the console rail. Any recommendations?
I honestly can’t remember, I think it’s just a 3 or 4’ Shakespeare antenna. I rarely use it because I have my garmin in reach to communicate when I don’t have signal
@Capt.Collier Some very good pointers in this vid! I live around the corner from u I’m in Irvington let me know when u want to go catch som more I got the gas! Lol
@@CaptCollier we also had a multiple species day , lane snapper , sheepshead , bluefish , Spanish mackerel , cobia and your favorite remora and the tax man , forgot about mangrove snapper cause there weren't no 10-12 pounders
I loved the video you did with Brad Beach bum and Freddy at the new tackle store as well. Keep up the great work and I'm definitely looking forward to the next catch and cook
I picked up a goo fish with your discount. Thanks. Caught my first fish slow pitching on Sunday. Love it Question on drifting or spot locking over reef? Didn’t look like y’all were using spot lock over the pyramid. What’s the best approach?
Awesome! great to hear. And i dont ever like spot locking when im jigging. Always good to cover area. unless ofcourse youre over a pyramid catching snapper you could, but its not ideal
This great stuff, just subscribed to the channel. I just bought a 186 triton Sea Hunt. Any advise of taking that boat offshore? and any tips or places to fish for Red Snapper along Pensacola Fl?
Thanks for the sub! And congrats on the boat. Main thing to watch for is the weather, don’t risk going out on windy or stormy days. As far as spots go, there should be public reef coordinates online that you can download to your chartplotter that will hold fish. I’d start there
Going to start slow pitch jigging this summer in our area. What rod, reel, and jig would you suggest best? This would be for a beginner primarily over reefs
It’s much better to drift along and cover area while jigging IMO, unless your over one small piece of structure you could spot lock down. I’ll just stay at the helm and hold the boat with the main engine if we run over some good fish
Hey Brandon or anyone willing to chime in. What is yalls go to deck boot for fishing in our area. I'm worried about these neoprene boots getting too hot.
Ive used Muck boots, Huk boots, an Pelagic boots so far and I would say the Pelagic boots are the most comfortable. Huk is a close 2nd. I wear thin ankle socks with mine even in the summer time and they don't get too hot. I will swap them out with flip flops some days though just to let my feet breathe from time to time.
for our slow pitch setups we were using 20-30lb braid for our main line and about 10ft of 40-60lb flouro tops shot leader. On my beefier fast jigging setup I was using 50lb braid to 80lb mono
Thank you! And usually that's what I do, I personally don't think it matters that much as long as they do get bled out. If you had a salt water/Ice slurry to throw them in while they bleed out that would be next best.
I have a garmin In-reach. You can’t make calls with it but you can send text messages and the subscription plan is through garmin as well. Well worth it if you make these types of trips occasionally. The g3 vision card you can purchase from their website as well. I have a video I did on it on my channel from about a year ago
On the blue rod setup I was using that was an accurate valiant 300. The setup that I was fast jigging with was an Avet JX. Super strong , we’ll built reel. I’m happy with it, it’s a work horse
@@CaptCollier we caught a hugh amberjack over 100 pounds and a couple of 80 lb yellow fins on those reels.I love it strong no nonsense reels.Good luck Capt
First time to your channel and yes subscribed I will book a trip with you lol don't even have to put me on the biggest Mangrove snapper in the gulf coast. That was a beast Just like to get our arms broke.
Please tell me how in the world do you go offshore fishing that far in a bay boat. Do you bring extra fuel or what. I have a 24 ft bay boat and the farthest I've been is 20 miles. How do you judge it without running out of fuel.
My boat has a 53 gallon tank. I average 3.5mpg most trips. I fill it up before I make a long run. That gives me at most 180 mile round trip, which I never do. Usually 100-120 miles round trip. Something will bring extra 5 or 10 gallons for peace of mind
The one I was using in the video was a 6’6 blue goofish rod paired with an accurate valiant 300 with 20lb daiwa j braid. 10ft leader of 50lb flour tied to the main line with an FG knot
Thanks for stopping by! And the one I was using in this video was the goofish blue 6’6 paired with an accurate valiant 300. 20lb daiwa j braid. It’s an extremely lightweight setup
@@CaptCollier your videos are awsome. We always say we are going to take the go pros with us when we go but get to excited and get on a good bite and dont turn them on lol. My coworker has his own personal reef he won off of facebook. Its a shipping container they dropped 22 miles offshore out of daulphin island. We catch huge red snapper off of it
Should we go tuna fishing with poppers next?
Yes, yes and YES!!!
Absolutely!
Yes sir
Heck yeh!!!

Thanks! I was definitely surprised to see it was a mangrove and not a red lol
Really enjoying your videos. Love the mood on your boat. Going to have to make a drive over to Alabama. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.
Nice grocery run. Good work Cap'n. Thanks for sharing
Love it y'all! Keep it up! Ain't nothing better than getting food that day and eating it the same night from your own hands ❤️👍
TWO jacks at the same time! And that mangrove! GEEZ!

I don’t know what it is, but there is something real special about catching those big mangroves. Congrats
Great offshore action!!!

Double B-liners....killing it.
